    ‘I’m OK’: Daley hoses down health concerns after concerning report

    Laurie Daley has hosed down concerns about his health and says he will make an announcement on his coaching future in due course.

    A News Corp report on Tuesday night claimed health issues will be a factor in the New South Wales legend stepping down from his role as Blues coach, following a State of Origin series win earlier this month.

    Fellow league legend Paul Vautin dropped a bombshell on a podcast on Monday when he revealed Daley has already told him he plans to quit the job.

    Daley, 56, refused to confirm as much on Wednesday morning. He also moved to allay any concerns about his wellbeing.

    I know plenty of former Blues legends are telling everyone to get off Daley’s back and trust the process.

    But seriously, after watching NSW get completely mauled in Melbourne, I’m getting a headache trying to comprehend a number of Daley’s decisions for the State of Origin decider at Suncorp Stadium on July 8.

    In fact, if I was rating this squad on what we saw in Origins I and II, as well as the NRL form leading into the series decider, I’d struggle to give it more than four out of 10.

    NSW coach Laurie Daley has made five changes as the Blues bid for one of the biggest upsets in recent Origin history at Suncorp Stadium, with NSW mainstay Brian To’o the most notable casualty of a backline shake-up.

    To’o, Kotoni Staggs and Tolutau Koula have all been dropped from the Blues’ game two backline, with Dolphins flyer Jack Bostock handed an Origin debut on the left wing as Stephen Crichton and Bradman Best also come in.

    Bruising back-rowers Liam Martin and Haumole Olakau’atu have also been given the nod as NSW chase just the fourth Blues win in a decider on Queensland soil on July 8.

    Blues ring in the changes as To'o dumped for decider

    Coach Laurie Daley has wielded the axe on his NSW team ahead of the State of Origin series decider, with Blues mainstay Brian To'o and Brisbane star Kotoni Staggs among four players dropped.

    Needing to defy history to reclaim the shield, Daley made a series of changes for game three on July 8 in Brisbane, headlined by Canterbury's Stephen Crichton returning to the centres after missing game two with a shoulder injury.

    Crichton replaces Staggs in the No.4 jersey after the Brisbane centre had a tough night in the Blues' 44-24 capitulation to Queensland at the MCG on June 17.

    Blues coach Laurie Daley has swung the axe, making wholesale changes to his team in a bid to shift his squad’s fortunes and win the Suncorp Stadium decider.

    Daley has made the brutal decision to drop five players, with Brian To’o, Victor Radley, Kotoni Staggs, Api Koroisau and Dylan Lucas not named after featuring in NSW’s Game II loss at the MCG.

    Across the 19 players, a total of six changes were made by Daley in one of the most significant Origin team shake-ups in recent memory.

    Jack Bostock has been named on the wing in To’o’s place, while Stephen Crichton and Bradman Best make up the centres.

    Moses, Katoa named for NSW in State of Origin II squad

    NSW coach Laurie Daley is rolling the dice on the fitness of Mitchell Moses after recalling the Parramatta captain to his Blues side for game two of the State of Origin series.

    Moses was named in Daley's squad on Monday despite having failed to play for the Eels since he was ruled out of the May 27 series opener in Sydney less than 48 hours before kick-off.

    The Parramatta playmaker suffered a minor hamstring strain in the lead-up to game one and was replaced at five-eighth by Canberra's Ethan Strange.

    ‘I’m ready’: Katoa primed for Origin debut if Moses fails to prove fitness

    Isaiya Katoa has emerged as NSW’s playmaking insurance policy as all eyes turn to Mitchell Moses and his hamstring for the start of Origin II camp.

    Moses was named on Monday in a 21-man Blues squad aiming to wrap up the series with a victory against Queensland on Wednesday week.

    One player expected to be ruled out of camp as early as Tuesday morning is Stephen Crichton because of an AC joint injury that has required him to receive painkilling injections each week.

    It remains to be seen how fit Moses is. The Parramatta playmaker pulled up with hamstring tightness two days before game one, ruling him out of the Eels’ clash on Monday against the Bulldogs. Moses underwent another solid training session early Monday at Parramatta’s Kellyville headquarters as part of his recovery.
