Influencers go it Alone for SBS

SBS took a novel approach to promote its upcoming season of Alone Australia by inviting a group of influencers, including Inspired Unemployed‘s Liam Moore, to spend 24 hours in the bush, denied their creature comforts (except those pesky phones for filming!).

Given the lowdown from survival and bushcraft expert Gordon Dedman, participants built their own shelters, sourced and purified water, fished and foraged for food and learnt essential survival skills before spending the night alone in self-built shelters.

There were some reports influencers who had RSVPd cancelled when they realised what was being asked of them, but SBS looks to have secured a committed bunch in these pics.

SBS sends creators bush for ALONE AUSTRALIA bootcamp

Ahead of the new season, which premieres next Wednesday 15 July, SBS sent a group of comedians, adventurers and social media personalities into the bush for a 24 hour survival bootcamp to discover just how quickly creature comforts disappear.

With audiences already flocking to SBS for its FIFA World Cup 2026 coverage, the broadcaster will be hoping to keep plenty of them around for the return of Alone Australia, arguably its second biggest event of the year.

Deadly then, deadly now, deadly always: SBS & NITV ignite NAIDOC Week 2026 with 50 years of Deadly

SBS acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of Country and their connections and continuous care for the skies, lands and waterways throughout Australia.

Celebrating the NAIDOC Week theme of 50 Years of Deadly in 2026, SBS and National Indigenous Television (NITV) invite all Australians into a powerful week of First Nations storytelling, culture and connection across television, streaming, audio and digital platforms from Sunday July 5 to Sunday July 12 on SBS, NITV and SBS On Demand.

As both the home of National NAIDOC Week, and the principal media partner, SBS and NITV continue to bring Australians together through storytelling that is authentic, accessible, and deeply meaningful – creating space for audiences across the country to experience, understand and engage with First Nations voices, cultures and perspectives. The 3-year media partnership supports the ongoing visibility and impact of NAIDOC across the country and reflects a longstanding relationship between NAIDOC, SBS and NITV in championing First Nations storytelling and community leadership.

City of Darwin is pleased to announce the successful recipients of its NAIDOC Week 2026 and Reconciliation Week 2027 Grants Program, supporting a diverse range of community-led events and initiatives.

The NAIDOC Week and Reconciliation Week grants aim to assist community events and initiatives taking place during NAIDOC Week 2026 (5 – 12 July 2026) and Reconciliation Week 2027 (27 May – 3 June 2027), helping to celebrate First Nations culture and strengthen community connection.

Lord Mayor Peter Styles said the program continues to play an important role in supporting meaningful community-led celebrations.

“NAIDOC Week is a time to recognise and celebrate the history, culture and achievements of First Nations peoples, and Reconciliation Week is an opportunity for all Australians to reflect on our shared history,” Mr Styles said.
