Milton Fire Department launches campaign for new ladder truck
Milton Fire Department is launching a capital campaign to help fund the purchase of a new 107-foot ladder truck.
The campaign, referred to as Reaching New Heights, would replace the department’s existing ladder truck that has been in service for more than 30 years. Deputy Chief Johnny Hopkins said the current truck has a lot of mechanical issues and has outlived its lifespan. The existing truck could reach heights of 75 feet, but the new one would be able to go to 107 feet, which Hopkins said is advantageous in fighting fires in developments where cars may be parked in the way.
Pink Punters blaze 'accidental' as suspect released
A fire that broke out at an LGBT+ nightclub in Milton Keynes was believed to have started accidentally, police said.
The blaze took place at Pink Punters in the Bletchley area of the city at 02:00 BST on Sunday and caused significant damage to the venue.
Following a joint investigation between Thames Valley Police and Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (BFRS), "no evidence of criminality was found".
A 51-year-old man arrested on suspicion of arson has been "eliminated from inquiries", the force added.
Supt Emma Baillie, from Thames Valley Police, thanked the community for supporting the investigation.
"We understand that an incident like this can be concerning for the local community, but I want to reassure people that following a thorough joint investigation with BFRS, we have found no evidence of any criminality," she said.

Owner of Pink Punters vows to reopen club as police call on the public not to speculate
A man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life after a fire at an LGBTQ+ nightclub, police have said.
Officers have called on people not to speculate about why the fire may have been set at Pink Punters in Fenny Stratford, near Milton Keynes, saying it is too early to tell. The club’s owner said he was relieved no one was hurt – and vowed the club would reopen.
“Whilst I am devastated to say that the building itself has been completely destroyed, I am deeply relieved, grateful and proud to confirm that no staff or customers were harmed, and everybody went home safely,” said Frank McMahon, whose family has run Pink Punters for more than 25 years.
