    Fitness coach dies after collapsing during high-intensity endurance HYROX competition

    The global fitness community is in mourning following the sudden death of a well-known gym owner and trainer who collapsed during a high-intensity endurance competition in Thailand.

    Leroy Saunders, a 41-year-old South African-born fitness coach based in Bangkok, tragically died after losing consciousness while competing at the BYD HYROX Bangkok event, which he ran from August 13 to August 16.

    The tragic incident occurred at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, where event staff and medical personnel rushed to provide CPR and emergency assistance on the spot.

    Saunders was transported to a nearby hospital but was later pronounced dead.

    His family and team confirmed the news in an emotional statement published on his personal Instagram account on Tuesday, August 18.

    Local police and Protective Service Officers were called after reports of a highly agitated man at Clayton railway station about 7:10pm on Sunday, and arrived to find the man armed with a knife.

    Police say the man was pacing the concourse before moving onto the tracks near the platform.

    The area was cordoned off, and trains were halted, as officers attempted to negotiate with the man.

    The 38-year-old’s terrified son and daughter watched in horror as their mother screamed for help.

    The brave youngsters — aged just 11 and seven respectively — desperately tried to save her.

    A man has died following a shark attack near Hull Heads in Far North Queensland.

    Emergency services were called to the Hull River boat ramp, 160 kilometres south of Cairns, just after 12pm, after receiving reports of a shark attack.

    A 39-year-old man is understood to have been attacked while at Kennedy Shoal, a reef site, before being retrieved from the water.

    Queensland Police said a report will be prepared for the coroner

    It is the second fatal shark attack in Australian waters in as many weeks, after the death of a 38-year-old Perth man off Rottnest Island on May 16.

    Australian hiker dies in Peru after fall on Inca Trail: reports

    An Australian tourist hiking the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu in Peru has died after falling down a ravine, according to state-owned online news agency Andina.

    Cusco Police Region Chief General Virgilio Velasquez said the man, named as Matthew Cameron Paton, 53, had tripped and fallen up to 400 metres on Wednesday afternoon (Lima time) while walking with a group of tourists and a guide.

    Andina reported that the body of Paton, who is believed to have worked as an instructor with Victoria Police, had been found in an abyss along the trail by members of Cusco’s High Mountain Rescue Unit (USAM) on Thursday afternoon (Lima time).
