    Hope, Dodgers' No. 2 prospect, smacks grand slam to continue hit streak

    The Dodgers’ No. 2 prospect (MLB No. 24) blasted a grand slam on Sunday for Double-A Tulsa, helping power a 7-2 win over Springfield. The big fly was Hope’s second career grand slam and his second home run of the young 2026 campaign, with his first coming just one day earlier on Saturday.

    The Dodgers were 3-0 after rallying in every game of their opening series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. They nearly pulled it off again, scoring two runs in the bottom of the ninth off closer Cade Smith, who had two wild pitches.

    But their offense mostly went cold, with Shohei Ohtani, Kyle Tucker, Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman combining to go 3-for-16.

    Roki Sasaki handles pressure in 2026 debut, holds Guardians scoreless for 4+ innings

    Rōki Sasaki silenced doubters last night with a dominant debut. The 24-year-old right-hander held the Cleveland Guardians scoreless for over 4 innings, striking out four batters in his highly anticipated 2026 regular season debut. After a disastrous spring, Sasaki proved he belonged on baseball’s biggest stage.

    Nobody could fault skeptics for worrying about Rōki Sasaki. His spring training was genuinely terrible, posting a 15.58 ERA across four starts. In one outing, he recorded zero outs while allowing four earned runs. Dave Roberts openly acknowledged the struggles.

    Yet the Dodgers manager remained confident in the young Japanese pitcher’s potential. Roberts gambled on Sasaki for Opening Day, despite available alternatives. That faith paid off spectacularly in Monday night’s game against the Guardians.

    Parker Messick beat the Dodgers 4-2 and pitched six shutout innings, with no walks, five strikeouts and allowing only five hits. This dude is a GAMER, folks:

    Jose Ramirez was chasing badly all game. He got a first inning single and a stolen base… then couldn’t come through. However he did make a great play, turning a double-play on a nice pick.

    The offense came on an Austin Hedges (!) double and a Steven Kwan double in the 3rd. Angel Martinez sac bunted in between those two, but it was against a RHP so I’ll reluctantly allow it.
