Throughout the season, Luka Doncic has been overshadowed by the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic.

That said, the Slovenian star has certainly entered the MVP conversation amidst the Lakers' impressive run.

Entering Tuesday's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Lakers had won 12 of their last 13 games, including a 19-point win Monday against the Washington Wizards.

To begin Tuesday's game, Doncic finished the first half with 20 points and now has 35 at the end of the third.

Not everyone is excited about the NFL’s historic Australian fixture later this year – and San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan is top of the list.

The 49ers mentor was quizzed about the opening game of their season, in which they will play rivals the Los Angeles Rams in a first-ever regular season clash at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in September.

PHOENIX — Kyle Shanahan isn't thrilled that the San Francisco 49ers will open the 2026 season with a trip to Melbourne, Australia, to play the Los Angeles Rams.

Speaking at the annual league meetings Monday morning, Shanahan was asked if he sees any positives in taking a 19- to 20-hour flight to play the Rams in Week 1 for the NFL's first regular-season game Down Under.

"I don't see any pro," the Niners coach said. "It's cool for the league to play globally. I think that's awesome. But as far as the team doing it, no, there's not much benefit to it. Sometimes it's nice to get a bye week after but doesn't happen in Week 1."

Young Aussie exposes horrific comments she copped over eight-second clip: 'Cruel'

A young Aussie has revealed the horrific amount of cyberbullying she received in just a 14-hour window on social media.

Chloe Pink, who is married to North Melbourne Football Club’s Toby Pink, put out an eight-second clip on Instagram of her hugging her husband, and it was seen by more than 10 million people, many of whom had no idea who she was.

All they seemingly knew about the 25-year-old was that she is a size 14 to 16, which is the average size of a woman in Australia, and was married to a footballer.

But Chloe told Yahoo Lifestyle her short video opened up a barrage of nasty comments about her appearance and allegations that her weight was stopping her from getting pregnant.

Daniil Medvedev: “People don’t see the toll” tennis puts on top athletes

The former world No. 1 became the latest to speak out about the challenge of travel and ever-changing routines after a first-round win at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships.

Daniil Medvedev joked at the Australian Open that he wasn’t ready to launch into podcasting just yet, leaving the former world No. 1 to make the most of the press conference format to achieve the same effect.

His latest turn behind the mic at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships saw him monologue about the state of the game and the ever-increasing challenges top athletes face to achieve elite levels of consistency.

Only grand slams and masters tennis tournaments should have ranking points: Medvedev

Daniil Medvedev says dropping smaller events like Hong Kong Open would ease pressure on players to play 11 months of year

Daniil Medvedev has called for a streamlined ATP calendar with only grand slams and masters 1000 tournaments offering ranking points, though the Russian concedes such reforms would be difficult to implement.

Top players are obligated to compete in the four majors and eight masters events, with the world rankings breakdown reduced from ‌19 to 18 tournaments in 2026 after the men’s body removed an ATP 500 commitment.

World No 11 Medvedev said that if smaller events, such as the Bank of China Hong Kong Open, did not count towards the rankings it would ease the pressure on players who have criticised the 11-month calendar.

    Medvedev’s Solution to Streamlining Schedule

Daniil Medvedev suggests trimming tournament ranking points to streamline the schedule.

Speaking to the media in Dubai, Medvedev said he sees one way to shorten the schedule: make the four Grand Slams and ATP Masters 1000 events mandatory and strip ranking points away from all other ATP 500 and 250-level tournaments.

“In general, yeah, I would say make four Grand Slams, I don’t know, 11 Masters, and that’s it,” Medvedev said. “The other tournaments, maybe make them without points or something. Not like exhibitions, but without points or something.

“Because what happens is last year, like, Holger [Rune] got injured in Stockholm, everybody was like, Yeah, but you don’t have to play it. If he wants to be in Turin, he has to, even if it’s not a mandatory tournament. That is where it is borderline. Players don’t even know.”

Tasmania's Rob Wilkinson is confident he will get his career back on track against "cocky" Englishman Luke Trainer in Dubai on Sunday (AEDT).

Wilkinson, 33, has had nine months to stew since his last fight, a TKO loss to Phil Davis in Orlando.

And Trainer, a 29-year-old who calls himself 'The Gent,' has fanned the flames ahead of the much anticipated showdown.

v, because like I said he might knock me out in the first minute," Trainer said.

"I think I'm going to put him out in the first round. I think if he shoots on me, I'll strangle him. If not the second, if not the third. I believe I will put him away."

Luke Trainer believes title shot next with big win in return at PFL Dubai

Luke Trainer hopes a big performance at PFL Dubai gets him a championship bout against Corey Anderson

Luke Trainer is ready to remind people who he is after a lengthy layoff, and hopes to parlay that into a championship opportunity.

Trainer returns to action for the first time since September 2024 to face former PFL season champion Rob Wilkinson this Saturday at PFL Dubai. Trainer enters the bout a winner of four straight, and eight of nine, as he makes his first appearance in the PFL SmartCage after a seven-fight run with Bellator.

“The Gent” was hoping to face a different opponent, but he’s thrilled to face a dangerous and seasoned fighter like Wilkinson.

Road to the title: Rob Wilkinson’s dream of being a two-time PFL champ

Always within arm’s reach of the world title and never one to cherry-pick opponents, ‘Razor’ Rob Wilkinson returns to the cage with a burning fire in his eyes and championship gold on his mind.

In a sport full of endless highs and lows, not many fighters can say they reached the pinnacle of MMA and became a world champion, let alone an Australian from Tasmania who defied the odds. Rob Wilkinson (19-4-0) etched his name in the history books in 2022, becoming the PFL light heavyweight champion —  and he plans to make history again.

Almost one year since he last fought in May 2025, Wilkinson, the number-three-ranked light heavyweight, is set to take on number-six-ranked Luke ‘The Gent’ Trainer (9-1-0) on Saturday, Feb 7, 2026, at PFL Dubai: Nurmagomedov vs Davis.

Don Lemon arrested after covering protest at Minnesota church

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon was arrested on Friday and accused of violating federal civil rights law in connection with his coverage of a protest at a Minnesota church earlier this month.

Lemon was arrested along with three others and charged with conspiracy against the rights of religious freedom at a place of worship and injuring, intimidating and interfering with the exercise of the right of religious freedom at a place of worship.

He was released on a personal recognizance bond on Friday and appeared outside a downtown federal courthouse several minutes later.

“I have spent my entire career covering the news,” he said. “I will not stop now. There is no more important time than right now, this very moment, for a free and independent media that shines a light on the truth and holds those in power accountable.”

The arrests of Don Lemon and Georgia Fort are a danger to all Americans | Theodore J Boutrous Jr and Katie Townsend

We are witnessing a dangerous escalation in the Trump administration’s attacks on the press and a clear threat to first amendment freedoms

The extraordinary arrests of the journalists Don Lemon and Georgia Fort last week are a dangerous escalation in the Trump administration’s attacks on the press and pose a clear threat to first amendment freedoms. Mere weeks after federal law enforcement executed a search warrant targeting a Washington Post reporter, the justice department is now pursuing criminal charges against two independent journalists for reporting from the scene of a protest in Minnesota citing – ironically – federal laws intended to protect the exercise of constitutional rights. These indictments are an affront to the first amendment of the US constitution.

Who is Don Lemon, the ex-CNN anchor arrested over a Minnesota church protest?

Don Lemon, the former CNN anchor, was arrested late on Thursday on charges that he violated federal law during a protest at a church in Minnesota earlier this month.

Abbe Lowell, a lawyer for Lemon, said that Lemon was “taken into custody by federal agents last night in Los Angeles, where he was covering the Grammy awards”.

“Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done,” Lowell said. “The first amendment exists to protect journalists whose role it is to shine light on the truth and hold those in power accountable.

Don Lemon says Nicki Minaj should 'get a life' after she calls for his arrest

Don Lemon criticized Nicki Minaj after she called for his arrest over covering an anti-ICE protest at a Minnesota church.

In a post on X, Minaj called Lemon "disgusting" and referred to him with an anti-gay slur after the former CNN anchor livestreamed an anti-ICE protest at a church in St. Paul, Minnesota on Jan. 18. A group of protesters interrupted a service over claims that one of the church's pastors works for ICE.

Former CNN anchor Don Lemon had time to address Nicki Minaj‘s homophobic social media post about his coverage of the anti-ICE protests in Minnesota.

“People have been asking about responding to Nicki Minaj’s unhinged, homophobic tweet about me,” he began in his Instagram video posted on Monday (Jan. 19). “I usually don’t respond to this stuff, but let me just say this. Nicki Minaj, stop talking about sh-t which you know nothing about. This is out of your depth, by the way. And you are a homophobic bigot…She doesn’t understand politics. Kevin Durant on Thunder's physicality: I don’t think they do too much, anything extra

Clemente Almanza: Kevin Durant on OKC’s physicality: “No, no, no different than any other group. They play with physicality for sure, but that’s what championships organizations do. I don’t think they toe the line or anything. I just think they just play swarming basketball; they all rush to the ball. They play physical off the ball. They got great hands. They got good block shot blocking center. I don’t think they do too much, anything extra. I just think they play together and know how to swarm the basketball.”

Kevin Durant Defends Thunder Defense Amid NBA Criticism

The Oklahoma City Thunder are making headlines across the NBA, not just for their winning ways, but for the fiery debate swirling around their defensive identity. With a five-game winning streak under their belts and a reputation for relentless, swarming defense, the Thunder have become the talk of the league—sparking both admiration and controversy. But as the chatter intensifies, it’s none other than former Thunder superstar Kevin Durant who’s stepped up to defend his old squad, offering a perspective that might just shift the narrative.

On January 15, 2026, Oklahoma City delivered a commanding 111-91 victory over the Houston Rockets, marking their fifth consecutive win and further cementing their status as one of the NBA’s premier defensive units. The win, orchestrated under the watchful eye of head coach Mark Daigneault, was a showcase of the Thunder’s trademark physicality, crisp rotations, and competitive edge. Their style—often described as a throwback with a modern twist—has drawn both praise and criticism, with some opponents and fans accusing them of crossing the line into overly physical play.

Kevin Durant shockingly defends Thunder from one of their biggest criticisms

Over the past few years, the OKC Thunder have built up a reputation of being a highly physical group that, as Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch put it, fouls "all the time."

Earlier this week, Spurs phenom Victor Wembanyama continued peddling this widespread belief when he told reporters, "I'm going to be sore in a few places tomorrow for sure," following their January 13 matchup.

However, in a rather shocking turn of events, the Sooner State's own Benedict Arnold, Kevin Durant, has publicly taken a stand in opposition to this narrative.

After being bested by the Thunder via a 111-91 blowout on Thursday night, the Rockets' star was asked by members of the media whether he believes OKC is "more grabby and foul-prone" than other clubs in the league.
