    Adam Elliott announces retirement from Rugby League due to injury

    Rabbitohs forward Adam Elliott has called time on his 11-season career in the NRL, announcing his retirement from Rugby League due to an ankle injury suffered during the 2026 season.

    Elliott played 180 NRL games over 11 seasons, scoring 76 points from 18 tries and two goals, making his NRL debut in 2016 for the Bulldogs. He played six seasons with Canterbury-Bankstown before shifting to the Canberra Raiders for the 2022 season. Elliott then joined the Newcastle Knights for three seasons before one final year with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in 2026.

    Elliott, a proud Wiradjuri man raised on Yuin country, represented the Indigenous All Stars on two occasions in 2019 and 2024 as well as representing Country Origin in 2017 and NSW Residents in 2015.

    NRL fans are sending tributes after South Sydney Rabbitohs forward Adam Elliot called time on his career after an ankle injury he suffered during the 2026 season. Elliot joined the Rabbitohs from the Newcastle Knights in 2026 after looking for a new team.

    The Rabbitohs gave Elliot a chance, but his season was interrupted after a brutal injury. The 31-year-old injured his ankle in Round 12 after he ruptured a deltoid ligament in just his third game of the season for the Rabbitohs.

    Elliot needed surgery and was believed to be out for the season. Although the lock surprised fans having made a return in Round 22 and played four more games for the Rabbitohs with the club knocked out in the NRL finals. Although the ankle injury he suffered has seen the 180-game NRL star call time on his career. The former Knights, Bulldogs and Raiders player said he lived out a dream playing in the NRL.

    McRae buoyant about Hill return as Collingwood confirms debutant

    Collingwood coach Craig McRae has hinted at a potential shorter-than-expected return-to-play timeline for livewire small forward Bobby Hill.

    Speaking for the first time since the 2023 Norm Smith Medalist returned to training after an extended period of personal leave, McRae was reluctant to put an exact timeline on his return, but spoke of the positivity about his return.

    “To see Bobby smiling is encouraging for all of us,” McRae said.

    “To see him fit and well and healthy, he worked really hard inside, we're conscious he's in pre-season mode now but to the eye I think he's a bit fitter than what we thought he would be, so we're excited to have him back."

    THE PERFORMANCE | Every time we think we've got T.L. pinned, Sam Elliott shows us a new facet of the "Landman" patriarch, and we're captivated anew. Such was the case in Sunday's episode, during which Elliott briefly lifted some of his character's emotional armor and offered a peek at a yearning softness beneath.

    "With my knees and my hip, I can't f—— stand right now," T.L. explained as Tommy took off his boots, readying to help his formerly-estranged father.
