North Melbourne is the leading contender for former Bomber Elijah Tsatas.

Seven’s Xander McGuire reports the Kangaroos have “emerged as Tsatas’ most likely home for 2027” after he was let go by Essendon at the end of the season.

McGuire reported earlier this week that multiple clubs had explored offering a potential lifeline to the former No. 5 pick in the aftermath of the trade period.

Frontrunner emerges as clubs eye delisted Tigers ruck

North Melbourne is interested in delisted free agent Samson Ryan as the club looks to bolster its ruck stocks

NORTH Melbourne has its eyes on former Richmond tall Samson Ryan as a delisted free agent.

The Roos are on the lookout for another tall to add to their ruck stocks and are understood to have Ryan on their radar.

Ryan was delisted by the Tigers earlier this month with a year to run on his contract.

However a number of clubs have enquired about Ryan since then, with North frontrunner to land him once the delisted free agency window opens in November.

Delisted Essendon midfielder’s ‘most likely home’ for 2027 revealed

Delisted Essendon midfielder Elijah Tsatas' hopes of a second chance in the AFL, with North Melbourne named as the 'most likely home' for the former Pick 5 selection.

Tsatas was cut from the Bombers' list at the cessation of the 2026 season after just 22 games in four years with the club, which he joined as their top pick via the 2022 AFL Draft.

The inside-outside midfielder managed a career-high seven games in 2024 and just six this year before being delisted by the club.

Given Tsatas' upside, interest in his services has risen, with the midfielder, who turns 22 on Sunday, in the sights of multiple clubs.

West Coast premiership coach Adam Simpson is reportedly a contender to watch for Brisbane’s coaching vacancy.

Seven’s Mitch Cleary reports that Simpson will meet with Brisbane in its search to find Chris Fagan’s successor as the club begins to canvas options.

“Adam Simpson is one contender to keep an eye on for the vacant Brisbane job opened up by Chris Fagan’s retirement,” Cleary said.

Replacing Fagan: Lions set to meet with 10 coach options

The Brisbane Lions will this week ramp up its coaching search, speaking to as many as 10 candidates about the position.

Despite suggestions the Lions would favour an internal replacement for departing triple premiership coach Chris Fagan, the club is set to scour the market.

Members of the selection panel will tomorrow begin a series of “coffee catch-ups” with prospective coaches from across the competition.

From there, a shortlist will be formed for formal presentations and interviews.

Lions assistant coach Cameron Bruce will proceed directly to the presentation stage.

Bruce – an assistant in both the Hawthorn and Brisbane dynasties – is still seen as the strong favourite to take what is arguably the most coveted job in football.

There was no love lost between England and Argentina in their FIFA World Cup semi-final, with off-the-ball incidents and brutal challenges from the opening whistle in Atlanta on Thursday (AEST).

The referee had his hands full as neither England nor Argentina took a backward step in pursuit of a place in the final against Spain on July 20 (AEST).

There was a contentious moment inside the first three minutes after Argentina’s Enzo Fernandez went through the back of England star Elliot Anderson.

Fernandez appeared to strike Anderson in the back of the head as England players – led by Jude Bellingham – reacted angrily to the challenge.

Watch Jude Bellingham slap Argentina player in the head after blowing World Cup semifinal

England's emotions were at a new low following their heart-wrenching 2-1 World Cup semifinal loss to Argentina, but emotions appear to have gotten the best of Jude Bellingham.

While Argentina celebrated on the pitch near the Real Madrid star, who was standing still and pensively looking onwards in an effort to come to terms with what had just happened during the match, Bellingham was caught walking up to a young Argentinian player and hitting him on the back of the head.

At the current time, it is unclear whether or not 21-year-old Valentin Barco said anything to Bellingham that provoked a reaction.

Awkward Hynes reality emerges after gritty Sharks victory

Nicho Hynes is one of the glamour boys of the NRL but the question has to be asked – are the Sharks a better team without him?

Hynes was missing in Saturday night’s gritty 10-8 win over the Warriors.

Nicho Hynes of the Sharks talks to referee Ashley Klein. Getty

And it proved to be the Sharks’ 11th win in their last 12 games without their classy halfback.

When Hynes is out, the under-rated Braydon Trindall gets free rein with the ball and so it was in wet and slippery conditions in Auckland as the Sharks carved out a gutsy win.

'I want to bring another World Cup home': Mulitalo's Kiwis goal

Cronulla flyer Ronaldo Mulitalo is eager to take another step towards regaining his place in the New Zealand squad as he eyes unfinished business at this year's World Cup.

The winger returned to Auckland for the Sharks clash with the Warriors eight months after he tore his ACL in the Kiwis’ Pacific Championships win over Samoa at Go Media Stadium.

Mulitalo made a rapid recovery from the serious injury and has hit the ground running for Cronulla since returning to the field during Magic Round.

The 26-year-old has relished the chance to return home and is using the trip as further motivation to represent his country later this year.
