In case it was ever in doubt, Jacob Elordi is a ‘dog person’

“You know, dogs for me are easier for me to act with than people,” says Jacob Elordi, who plays opposite a dog for a good portion of Sir Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars.

Like all his answers, this one is slow and considered; Elordi doesn’t do throwaway lines.

“Because they never lie,” he goes on. “This dog is incredibly well-trained. Her sole job is responding to me, so it was kind of an easy task. [And] because her focus is entirely on me, she’s entirely dedicated between action and cut. The word ‘Action’ makes her spring to life and ‘Cut’ is when she knows she gets a reward. So in the scene, she’s probably the truest scene partner I’ve had.”

VIDEO: Jacob Elordi and Ridley Scott speak on ‘The Dog Stars’

Jacob Elordi worked with one of Hollywood's most successful film directors, Ridley Scott, whilst making 'The Dog Stars'. They speak with Sarah Ferguson.

Fans of The Morning Show have flocked to support its daily contributor Karen Ledbury, after the star revealed “life is the toughest it’s ever been”.

The popular presenter – who fronts the show’s advertising segments alongside her commitments hosting on Sydney Weekender – sparked concern after sharing a post on August 6 as she looked forward to a much-needed vacation in Las Vegas with a friend.

“Not gunna lie.. Life is the toughest it’s ever been… But a short break with a great friend will leave memories I will never forget and fill my soul ready for another round on my return,” she wrote.

Ebola outbreak on track to be deadliest ever, WHO chief says

The current outbreak of Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo is on track to surpass the deadliest outbreak of the disease ever, the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO) has said.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told reporters that the 2026 outbreak, "at its current pace", would "eclipse" that of the 2014-2016 occurrence, which killed at least 11,000 people.

The outbreak this year, declared on 15 May, has seen at least 4,300 cases and caused more than 2,000 deaths.

The WHO said on Wednesday it hoped to reverse the spread of the disease within three months but warned that this meant bringing transmission under control – not ending the outbreak entirely.

DR Congo Ebola outbreak set to become deadliest on record, WHO warns

Outbreak to eclipse West Africa’s Ebola outbreak of 2014 to 2016 if it continues at current pace, WHO chief says.

The Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) is spreading faster than health authorities can contain it and is on track to become the deadliest on record, according to the World Health Organization.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on Wednesday that at its current pace, the outbreak is on track to eclipse the West African Ebola outbreak of 2014 to 2016, a crisis that killed more than 11,000 people and accelerated the push to develop a vaccine.

The outbreak in eastern DR Congo has killed more than 2,000 people out of more than 4,300 recorded cases, making it the fastest-moving Ebola outbreak on record. It was formally declared on May 15, though genetic sequencing later revealed the virus had actually begun circulating in February.

‘The greatest arms I’ve ever seen’: Matt Damon’s muscular female stunt double Devyn Dalton

Canadian stuntwoman is only 4ft 6in and stood in for star to make the giant Laestrygonians appear even bigger

A 35-year-old stuntwoman is one of the great unsung heroes of Christopher Nolan’s new blockbuster The Odyssey – standing in for Matt Damon and displaying what the actor called “the greatest arms I’ve ever seen”.

Canadian Devyn Dalton was the Hollywood star’s stunt double in a pivotal scene in the film where Odysseus (Damon) and his men are confronted by the Laestrygonians, giant armoured cannibals.

In order to make Damon and his crew appear dwarfed by the group of goliaths, the actors doing stunts needed to be small. Dalton is 4ft 6in (137cm) and her rippling, muscular arms were perfect to represent Damon’s own biceps.

Australian police have seized 2.7 tonnes of cocaine – the country's largest ever such bust – from an underground bunker system in western Sydney.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of A$816m (£433m, €500m), were found on Friday in compartments concealed beneath false floors in three shipping containers at a property in Londonderry.

Two men aged 21 and 25, who allegedly attempted to flee from police, were arrested at the scene and charged with possessing a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported border-controlled drug.

Police say the cocaine was smuggled into Australia via the small town of Midge Point in North Queensland on the orders of an organised crime group.

‘Have you ever been around someone you just know is evil?’ Melinda French Gates on meeting Jeffrey Epstein, giving away billions, and her post-divorce peace

The philanthropist always saw Epstein for who he really was – despite his meetings with her then husband Bill Gates. Now carving out a life on her own terms, she explains why she’s focused on the fight for women’s health

Melinda French Gates has entered a new phase of life, and it is “beautiful”, she says. It is five years since her painful, public divorce from the Microsoft founder Bill Gates, and two years since she stepped down from their charity, the Gates Foundation, to focus her full attention on Pivotal, the philanthropic organisation she founded in 2015 to promote women’s empowerment. Her three children have all left home, she goes by “Nonna” to her two granddaughters, and as an empty nester she finds herself in the strange position of having time on her hands.

The ‘worst trade ever’ made them an NFL laughing stock. Now they could win it all

Just two years ago, the Denver Broncos were the laughing stock of the NFL.

Now, they’re one win away from securing the No.1 seed in the AFC and a real shot at Super Bowl glory.

It’s a remarkable turnaround for the organisation guilty of the worst trade in NFL history – signing veteran quarterback Russell Wilson “for a King’s ransom” in 2022.

Wilson failed to live up to his Seattle hype in his first two years in Denver, and was unceremoniously dumped in a move that saw the Broncos eat $85 million in dead cap space across 2024 and 2025.

Broncos clinch West, ending Chiefs' 9-year reign

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos won their first AFC West title in a decade Saturday when the Houston Texans beat the Los Angeles Chargers 20-16.

That means the Broncos will host their first playoff game since January 2016. They can wrap up the AFC's No. 1 seed as early as Sunday, if the Patriots, Jaguars and Bills all lose or tie their Week 17 games.

The Broncos' division title ended a nine-year stretch by the Kansas City Chiefs (6-10), whose run of seven consecutive AFC Championship Game appearances ended during an injury-riddled season that included a serious knee injury to Patrick Mahomes.

Broncos clinch AFC West, Texans clinch playoff berth with Houston's win over Chargers

The Houston Texans essentially handed the Chargers two losses on Saturday.

By defeating Los Angeles, 20-16, Houston simultaneously clinched a spot in the playoffs and allowed the Denver Broncos to clinch an AFC West title, ensuring the Bolts will be a wild-card team.

Houston is no stranger to earning a postseason triumph against L.A., having beaten the Chargers last season in the AFC Wild Card Round. With another win in a playoff-like atmosphere, DeMeco Ryans and C.J. Stroud notched their third postseason berth in three seasons as a head coach-quarterback duo.

It's been Ryans' defense that's been the lynchpin for the Texans' success and in-season comeback.

Big News: First Ever XRP ETF Cleared for Nasdaq Listing This Week

The Canary XRP ETF has officially been approved for listing on the Nasdaq, becoming the first ever XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) to get SEC registration. According to reports, the ETF was automatically approved after the issuer filed a Form 8-A with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

The filing, signed by Canary Capital Group CEO Steven McClurg on November 10, 2025, confirms that the ETF’s shares are registered under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and will trade under the ticker “XRPC.” This means the long-awaited XRP fund could begin trading in just a few days.

According to the SEC document, the ETF’s shares are registered under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, with the Nasdaq designated as the official trading venue. The registration refers back to the Form S-1 filing submitted on October 24, 2025, which outlined the trust’s structure and investment approach.

XRP Surges 12% as 11 ETFs Land on DTCC Website

While DTCC inclusion doesn't guarantee regulatory approval, it confirms the trading infrastructure is operational.

Canary Capital announced Friday that its XRP ETF is coming soon. Geraci speculated the product could go live by week's end, potentially becoming one of the first XRP investment vehicles available through traditional brokerage accounts for both institutional and retail investors.

The 21Shares fund would become the first XRP exchange-traded product and fourth altcoin ETP launched under the Act of 1933. Spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs received approval under the same framework but were listed under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934, which requires different exchange oversight.

At least 16 crypto ETF applications await approval, all delayed by the 40-day shutdown. The resumption of regulatory review processes is expected to accelerate decisions, potentially unlocking multiple new digital asset investment products.
