Ahead of the 2026 Oscars, Timothée said in an interview with Matthew McConaughey for Variety, "I don't want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it's like, 'Hey, keep this thing alive, even though like no one cares about this anymore.' All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there."

Oscars 2026: Watch Miles Caton, Raphael Saadiq, and More Perform “I Lied to You”

Sinners star Miles Caton and Raphael Saadiq performed their Best Original Song-nominated number “I Lied to You” live at the 2026 Academy Awards. They were joined by a stacked lineup including blues legend Buddy Guy, Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes, Shaboozey, ballerina Misty Copeland, and more. Watch it all go down below.

For their live rendition of “I Lied to You,” both Saadiq and Caton played guitar while framed by the interior of Sinners’ barn set piece, complete with string lights hanging above. Dancers dressed in period-accurate clothing twirled around to recreate the juke joint scene from the movie as a number of other musicians took the stage to sing or play guitar alongside them—including Guy, Howard, Eric Gales, and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram—while figures from different generations of music and culture entered the frame. Like in the now-famous movie scene, the camera wove between people onstage to recreate the dizzying effect of being on a crowded dance floor.
