'Fallout' Star Ella Purnell Reveals the One Fitness Class She'll Never Take Again

Given that she plays the lead role in a mega-popular video game-turned-TV show, you would think English actor Ella Purnell had to endure an ultra-crazy exercise regimen to prepare for the project. Not so, says the 29-year-old star of Prime Video's Fallout (now in its second season).

"I've never had to do a workout routine for a role before," Ella admits to Women's Health in the latest episode of the video series Well Said. "I feel very lucky—I know a lot of people have faced a lot of pressure to do that."

However, that isn't to say Ella (whom you may also recognize from Showtime's Yellowjackets) has never felt pushed to her limits by a workout. "I did do reformer Pilates once, and let me tell you, that was no joke. I will not be doing that again."

Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters: Everything we know so far

Rumours about Fallout 3 and New Vegas remasters keep swirling as Season 2 of the hit Prime Video TV series continues to release.

Fallout 3 was the first game in the series by developer Bethesda and the first 3D one too, releasing in 2008 and going on to scoop a number of Game of the Year gongs. Fallout New Vegas was developed by Obsidian and published by Bethesda, releasing in 2010 to critical acclaim.

Neither have been officially confirmed by Bethesda but have been heavily rumoured for a number of years, especially since official documents revealed a remaster of Fallout 3 has been in the works.

With the highly anticipated season two finale of Amazon Prime Video’s Fallout series landing on February 3, 2026, the internet has been ablaze with speculation about what Bethesda might have up its sleeve. Fans and industry watchers alike have been dissecting every clue, every trailer, and every cryptic Steam listing, all in hopes of confirming the biggest rumor in gaming this winter: that Bethesda is preparing to stealth-launch a remaster of Fallout 3, and perhaps even Fallout: New Vegas, to capitalize on the show’s success. Yet as the dust settles after a week of frenzied rumor-mongering, the facts suggest a more complicated—and perhaps more tantalizing—situation for fans of the post-apocalyptic franchise.

Well, this was a classic penultimate episode of television: a lot of setup, new twists placed on a simmer, and a little self-contained action to make the whole enterprise worthwhile. Most curious of the handful of late-stage reveals we get in this episode is probably around Steph’s pre-war ordeal as part of the Canadian resistance; in Fallout lore, Canada was annexed by America some years before the world ended. In the cold open, we see her escape an internment camp alongside another woman — I think it’s supposed to be her mom, going by the “raised you Catholic” line — and they’re almost caught before a fellow freedom fighter suicide bombs the power-armoured grunt who threatens to wrangle them up. Steph’s mom is hit with shrapnel, and before she dies, leaves her with chilling advice: “Don’t think of them as human beings. Think of them as Americans.” Something has always been more than a little off with the overseer of Vault 32, and this episode provides a clarifying window into her air of sociopathy. It stands to reason that if she doesn’t think of the vault dwellers as human, it would be a breeze for her to subject them to Vault-Tec’s experimental misdeeds. It makes sense why they hired her.

‘Fallout’: Amazon Says Season 2 Is Tracking As One Of Its Top 4 Returning Series, But Won’t Release Viewership Stats, Yet

Fallout returned to Prime Video with its second season last month, prompting questions about the sophomore installment of the video game adaptation over the course of the last six weeks. With just two episodes left to go, the streamer is finally pulling back the curtain (just slightly) on the Season 2 audience.

As it stands, Amazon said Season 2 of Fallout is the top-performing season on Prime Video since Reacher Season 3, which debuted in February 2025. The streamer added that it is also currently the No. 6 TV season of all time on Prime Video. It falls behind both Seasons 1 and 2 of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Reacher Seasons 2 and 3, and the first season of Fallout.

Fallout Season 2 is Prime Video's sixth most-watched series of all time

Over half of viewers are outside the US, biggest audiences residing in UK, Germany, and Brazil

Fallout season 2 has already become Prime Video's sixth most-watched series of all time in four weeks.

As reported by Deadline, Fallout's second season ranks behind both series of Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Reacher seasons two and three, and the first season of Fallout.

Looking at just the returning seasons chart, Fallout ranks at No.4 behind Reacher and Rings of Power.

Fallout season 2 premiered on December 16, 2025, with episodes airing weekly as opposed to its first season in 2024.

Amazon has yet to release the full viewing figures for Fallout season 2, but has shared some interesting stats including that a sizable chunk of its audience reside in the UK, Germany, and Brazil.

Streaming Ratings: ‘Fallout’ Falls Off With Change From Binge to Weekly Release for Season 2

The Nielsen streaming stats for the season two premiere of Fallout are significantly smaller than those for season one in 2024 — but that’s hardly the complete picture.

Fallout accumulated 794 million viewing minutes on Prime Video for the week of Dec. 15-21; season two debuted on Dec. 16. In raw numbers, that’s way down from the 2.9 billion minutes of watch time for season one’s opening week in April 2024, which stands as the best premiere for a series ever on the Amazon-owned platform.

There are a couple of big differences between the seasons, however, that help account for the disparity. Prime Video released Fallout season one as a binge. In season two, the streamer opted for a weekly release, and it dropped only one episode on Dec. 16, rather than two or three as it has done for a number of other series.

Walton Goggins and Justin Theroux light a fire under Fallout's ass

Fallout has never been a show that’s especially interested in plot. Yes, it doled out a few mysteries over the course of its first run, some even extending to season length (especially the question of who Lee Moldaver was and what she wanted with whatever was kicking around in Michael Emerson’s increasingly grody severed head). But the nuts-and-bolts story of the series has mostly forgone elaborate puzzle box shenanigans in favor of hewing pretty closely to a classic hero’s journey, the better to let the show spend the bulk of its energy on building out the world of the Wasteland, navigating its ongoing tightrope between bitter drama and black-as-pitch comedy, and fleshing out the souls of its leading characters. Scrape away the excess, and the story was simple: The bombs dropped, war doesn’t change, and people stay people even after everything has “ended.” ‘Nuff said.
