‘Wouldn’t have been my choice’: Farage praises Hanson, but breaks with her on right-wing podcast

London: One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has been backed by British right-wing populist Nigel Farage after they met at a closed-door political gathering also attended by mining billionaire Gina Rinehart.

Farage, who is leading the polls with his Reform UK party, heaped praise on Hanson for her staying power in politics, but he took issue with her decision to sit down for a podcast with far-right activist Tommy Robinson.

Hanson and Rinehart arrived in London to attend the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), where the One Nation leader was given a front-row seat to hear Farage address the summit on Friday afternoon (about 1.30am on Saturday AEST).

Farage lauds Hanson as she and Rinehart attend UK conservative pow-wow

London | Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has sung the praises of Pauline Hanson as the two right-wing populists put aside a tough fortnight to meet each other at a major conservative political gathering in Britain.

Joining Hanson at the Conservative Political Action Conference in London on Friday was Australia’s richest woman Gina Rinehart, after the pair were photographed earlier this week having a poolside meeting at luxury Italian resort as well as attending a Dolce & Gabbana fashion show.

Hanson laments end of White Australia policy on Tommy Robinson podcast

Pauline Hanson believes that, after the end of the White Australia policy, immigrants came to Australia "purely for the welfare system". (ABC News: Ian Cutmore)

Pauline Hanson has singled out the end of the White Australia policy as the beginning of migration issues in Australia.

In an interview with convicted felon and far-right activist Tommy Robinson, she suggested without evidence migrants came to Australia "purely for the welfare system".

Senator Hanson also revealed she believed her daughter, Lee, had the "potential" to be a leader of the party.

One Nation leader Pauline Hanson has blamed the end of the White Australia policy for migration issues in the country during a controversial podcast appearance with a far-right activist in the UK.

Nigel Farage resigns as MP for Clacton, triggering by-election which he says he will stand in

Nigel Farage says he will resign as an MP for Clacton, triggering a by-election which he will stand in

"This will be a people versus the establishment by-election," he says in a video statement, adding "the people of Clacton should be the judges of my actions"

It comes amid a row over his financial support, after the Sunday Times reported he had not declared benefits, including staff and security, received from long-time ally George Cottrell – Farage says he has done "nothing wrong"

The Reform UK leader has also faced questions about a £5m gift from Christopher Harborne in early 2024 which he did not register – he said the money was for his personal security

Why Farage is quitting as an MP amid scrutiny over gifts – but will stand again

Reform UK leader is to force a byelection in his Clacton seat as he reveals he faces a second parliamentary inquiry

Nigel Farage has said he will resign as the MP for Clacton, and fight the resulting byelection, as scrutiny over his finances continues.

The Reform UK leader revealed that he was under a second investigation by the parliamentary standards watchdog over undeclared gifts.

Farage has been the subject of a standards inquiry after he did not make public a £5m gift from the crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne before the last election, as revealed by the Guardian in April.

He said on Tuesday there was now another inquiry over allegations that he was financially supported by the crypto gambler and convicted fraudster George Cottrell, who is a close friend.

Britain's Nigel Farage has announced a high-stakes gamble that could end his political career.

Mr Farage, the leader of Reform UK, said he would resign as an MP and recontest his own seat in the subsequent by-election.

The 62-year-old is facing intensifying scrutiny over his finances and donations, and a big win in the seat could help him shore-up support.

Nigel Farage, the far-right political leader riding a surge of support in Britain, has announced he will stand down as an MP and recontest his parliamentary seat.

Farage under mounting pressure to prove Russian hack claim

Reform UK leader claims ‘counter-espionage experts’ suggest state-sponsored hackers are behind disclosure of £5m gift

Nigel Farage is under mounting pressure to provide evidence for his claim that a state-sponsored Russian hack was behind the disclosure of the £5m gift he received from the crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne.

Reform UK claimed over the weekend that analysis of Farage’s phone by “counter-espionage experts” suggested that “Farage’s phone, email and bank accounts were compromised by hostile actors, almost certainly linked to Moscow, using spear phishing tactics”, before the Guardian revealed details of his undeclared gift last month.

Farage told the Mail on Sunday that the alleged Russian activity was “deeply concerning” and highlighted the “threat they pose to British security”.

Nigel Farage was issued with court judgement for £9,400 debt

Reform UK leader Nigel Farage failed to pay a debt of £9,400 and had a County Court judgment imposed against him in 2024.

The judgment, which is publicly available on an official national database, shows that the County Court Online service made the finding against the Reform UK leader almost two years ago.

The basic facts of the ruling do not include who made the claim, how it came about or whether Farage ever contested it.

Reform UK has said Nigel Farage will appeal the judgment because he had not been aware of the claim.

A spokesman for the party said it had been sent to the wrong address.

Five questions over Nigel Farage’s £5 million donation

Questions about a £5 million gift to the leader of Reform UK Nigel Farage from a crypto billionaire simply won’t go away. As someone who spends their life thinking, writing and talking about money in politics, I’ve been left with at least five questions that remain unanswered. These centre not just on the donation and Reform’s financial arrangements, but also on what it says about the system of political finance in the UK.

It appears so. It was reported in late April that Farage had received the cash from Christopher Harborne. This was shortly before deciding to stand in the seat of Clacton in the 2024 general election, which he subsequently won.

Jenrick defects to Farage's Reform UK | The Latest

Robert Jenrick has been sensationally sacked from the shadow cabinet and suspended from the Conservative party after Kemi Badenoch said she was presented with ‘irrefutable evidence’ that he was planning to defect.

The shadow justice secretary was Badenoch’s leadership rival and had long been said to have been prepared to do a deal with Reform UK’s leader, Nigel Farage.

UK Conservative Party leader Kemi Badenoch has sacked one-time leadership rival Robert Jenrick from her senior policy team and suspended him from the party, saying he was plotting to defect.

Nigel Farage, the leader of the populist Reform UK party, said the two men had held discussions about him joining the party.

Jenrick lost to Badenoch in the 2024 contest to lead the main opposition party after their crushing general election defeat and was then, in an effort to reunite the party, given the role of justice spokesman.
