HOUSTON — — Reed Sheppard made a career-high seven 3-pointers and scored 28 points, Alperen Sengun had 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, and the Houston Rockets beat the Sacramento Kings 128-97 on Wednesday night.

Kevin Durant added 21 points for the Rockets in their most-lopsided victory of the season. Houston has won two in row since blowing an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter at New York on Saturday.

Russell Westbrook scored 22 points for Sacramento, but 17 came in the first quarter. DeMar DeRozan added 15 on a night he moved ahead of Paul Pierce into 20th place on the NBA's career scoring list.

The Kings were coming off a victory over Memphis that snapped their franchise-record 16-game losing streak.

Rockets' Alperen Sengun: Delivers triple-double vs Kings

Sengun generated 26 points (9-13 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 7-8 FT), 13 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals and three blocks across 32 minutes of Wednesday's 128-97 win over Sacramento.

Sengun stuffed the stat sheet Wednesday night, notching his third triple-double of the season while also racking up five combined steals-plus-blocks. Although scoring efficiency hasn't been an issue for Sengun recently, he has been quiet as a scorer. Sengun averaged 15.0 points in the eight games leading up to Wednesday. He's averaging 20.5 points per game this season.

Collin Gillespie had 15 points and Grayson Allen scored 14 as the Suns lost for the fourth time in their last five games. The Suns played without their top two scorers, Devin Booker (right hip strain) and Dillon Brooks (left hand fracture), who combined average nearly 46 points per game.

Jaylen Brown injury update: Celtics rule out star guard vs. Suns due to knee contusion

The Boston Celtics won't have star guard Jaylen Brown when they take on the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday. Brown was ruled out of the contest due to a right knee contusion, the team announced.

Brown's injury came to light Monday, when the team listed him as questionable on the injury report due to the issue. Upon further examination, Brown will be held out Tuesday.

He did not show signs of an injury during Sunday's game, which the team won 111-89 over the Los Angeles Lakers. Brown played 36 minutes in that contest, scoring 32 points, which led the Celtics.

Brown, 29, is in the midst of his finest season as a pro. Through 51 games, Brown is averaging a career-high 29.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game.

Kawhi Leonard shrugged off an ankle injury to score 37 points and Bennedict Mathurin added 21 points and nine rebounds off the bench for the Clippers, who are 4-5 since Feb. 2. Mathurin missed a 3-point attempt to win the game at the buzzer.

Leonard exited Friday’s loss against the Los Angeles Lakers with an ankle sprain. Mathurin was playing in his fifth game for the Clippers after he was acquired at the trade deadline from the Indiana Pacers.

Magic escape Clippers in 111-109 victory

The Orlando Magic were already facing an uphill battle when they entered Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Clippers inside Intuit Dome.

Not only was Orlando at a rest disadvantage playing on the second night of a back-to-back at Los Angeles, but Jamahl Mosley‘s squad was also without Franz Wagner (left high ankle sprain injury management) and Jalen Suggs (back spasms) for a second game in a row.

But after falling by three points in double overtime Saturday night at Phoenix, the Magic didn’t let the excuses stop them from digging deep late and capturing a 111-109 victory.
