Wireless festival cancelled after Kanye West banned from entering UK

Rapper had been booked to play at festival in London, prompting outcry over his past antisemitic remarks

The Wireless music festival has been cancelled after the artist formerly known as Kanye West was banned from entering the UK amid a deepening political row over his previous antisemitic statements.

West, who is legally known as Ye, made an application to travel to the UK via an Electronic Travel Authorisation on Monday and it was blocked by officials.

A spokesperson for the festival confirmed it would no longer go ahead in July and said refunds would be issued to customers who had already bought tickets.

The UK Home Office has barred Kanye West, officially known as Ye, from entering the country.

He was scheduled to headline three nights at the Wireless Festival in London's Finsbury Park in July, in an announcement that has caused controversy.

Rapper Kanye West has been barred from entering the UK after he was announced as the headline act of a major London music festival.

West, whose stage name is Ye, previously made a string of antisemitic remarks which he later blamed on a bipolar disorder diagnosis, and was scheduled to play at the Wireless Festival in July.

NASCAR for the Streets of Adelaide this weekend

Whiteline Racing, the winners of Round 1 of the Touring Car Masters series, are making a swift transition from their recent Sydney victory to their hometown streets of Adelaide.

The team is set to compete at the Adelaide Motorsport Festival with two Chevrolet race cars: Scott Cameron’s Touring Car Masters race and round 1 winning Camaro and team owner Bob Middleton’s historic Chevrolet Monte Carlo NASCAR.

Laneway Festival begins at Western Springs in Auckland, New Zealand today, and before this year’s highly anticipated event began, organisers unveiled the festival merch designs and prices.

The merch designs and prices were revealed in a social media post yesterday (4 February), with Melbourne pop band Blusher modelling the options. Note that the merch revealed so far is only Laneway Festival related – acts on the bill will likely bring their own merch, too, but those designs haven’t been shared yet.

Merch this year is colourful and fun, with some shirts inspired by headliner Chappell Roan’s gothic fairytale spectacle theme. Punters can get their hands on Laneway Festival singlets, oversized soccer shirts, white, black, pink and yellow t-shirts, bandanas, hoodies, caps, and bucket hats, plus tote bags and keychains.
