Gallen warns clubs against signing Luai as left-field option emerges
Paul Gallen has warned clubs against signing the PNG-bound Jarome Luai for 2027, declaring they would be opening their doors to the Chiefs′ “No.1 recruitment officer”.

Benji Marshall has slammed "bull**** rumours" claiming a fractured relationship with Jarome Luai contributed to the star five-eighth's early exit from Wests Tigers.
Marshall insisted the shock decision to farewell the four-time premiership winner after only two seasons was due to the club's long-term success and next generation of talent in mind.
The coach also confirmed Luai would remain the Tigers' first-choice five-eighth for the remainder of the 2026 season even though they look less and less likely to feature in a fairytale return to finals.

‘Best interest of the club’: Marshall explains decision to release Luai
Jarome Luai will play for Parramatta next season after having agreed to leave Wests Tigers at the end of the year.
Luai has come to terms with the Eels, which will be his home for 2027 before he switches to the PNG Chiefs the following year. It’s the second successive year that Parramatta has gone for a stop-gap playmaker after signing Brisbane-bound Jonah Pezet from the Storm for this season.
Luai will partner Mitchell Moses in the Eels halves, a combination that has netted three wins from as many games together for NSW at State of Origin level. By only signing for one season before joining the Chiefs, Luai won’t block the pathway of promising Parramatta playmakers Lincoln Fletcher and Lorenzo Talataina.
