With a spot in the Top 5 on the line, it’s fair to say each and every contestant was feeling the pressure in the MasterChef kitchen as Level Up Week kicked off.

Throughout the week, each judge will take their turn to set a challenge for the contestants, and food writer and critic Sofia Levin was up first. Tasked with a one-ingredient Mystery Box challenge, the contestants could choose between onion, yuzu, beetroot, or almonds to create a dish worthy enough to score them immunity ahead of the next elimination.

There are now only six contestants left on this season of MasterChef, and fans are invested after watching weeks of challenges and eliminations.

What started with complaints about the judges’ outfits and general hygiene in the kitchen has now firmly landed on the contestants themselves, and one in particular is copping the heat from fans during Heat Week.

Luke — the youngest contestant on the show aged 20 — was a fan favourite at the start, but now, there is online sentiment that he’s survived one too many times, with claims he’s been “too risky” in the kitchen.

Who is Congo's goalie? Meet Lionel Mpasi, who is making England's life miserable

The Democratic Republic of the Congo was heavy underdogs against England in the first World Cup knockout game in the nation's history.

To stick around, Lionel Mpasi would have to be a giant in goal.

That included multiple unreal saves, including a stop with his midsection of Harry Kane just before halftime, as DR Congo clung to a 1-0 lead.

He was born to Congolese parents, and so he represents the country of his heritage at the international level.

His appearance in Wednesday's World Cup match is his 33rd cap for his country.

In his club career, Mpasi suits up for Le Havre in France's Ligue 1.

‘It’s a penalty!’ Kane accused of simulation as England desperately try peg back DR Congo lead

Harry Kane was ruled to have dived after he appealed for a first-half penalty against DR Congo in the FIFA World Cup Round of 32 clash in Atlanta.

England were desperately trying to peg back a first-half deficit against the African outfit, who took a stunning seventh minute lead through Brian Cipenga, who fired past Jordan Pickford.

After a pulsating first-half from DR Congo, a desperate England were trying to chase the game and find an equaliser before the interval.

Kane surged into the box to chase a through ball and was felled by Lionel Mpasi in a rare lapse of judgement from the brilliant DR Congo goalkeeper, who plays for Le Havre in France.

Whole-life order given to UK teacher who sexually abused and murdered adopted baby

Jamie Varley jailed for life and partner John McGowan-Fazakerley jailed for 25 years over death of Preston Davey

A secondary school teacher has been jailed for life for sexually abusing and murdering the baby boy he was adopting with his partner.

Jamie Varley, 37, was sentenced to a whole-life order on Thursday for abusing and killing 13-month-old Preston Davey. It means he will stay in prison for the rest of his life and will never be eligible for parole, the judge Mr Justice Turner said.

Varley’s partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, 32, was jailed for 25 years for sexual abuse, child cruelty and allowing the death of a child.

The twisted life of teacher who killed his adopted son

In the months after he adopted Preston Davey, Jamie Varley's social media pages painted a picture of a loving family life but the reality was far more twisted and sinister.

Preston was subjected to months of horrific physical, sexual and emotional abuse at the hands of Varley, who was trusted to take care of him.

After an eight-week trial at Preston Crown Court, Varley, who claimed Preston had accidentally drowned in the bath, was found guilty of murdering him.

The 37-year-old teacher, who was also convicted of sexually abusing his adopted son, was given a whole life order earlier.

This means he will never be released from prison, except in exceptional compassionate circumstances.
