‘Kangaroo tasted good once’: US superstar’s Tszyu warning… and potential NRL link

American superstar Keith Thurman has expressed his interest in a blockbuster showdown with hyped Australia prospect Nikita Tszyu, declaring: “Kangaroo tasted good the last time … so I could see myself taking another bite”.

On the eve of Tszyu’s IBF world title eliminator against Ben Mahoney, both Thurman and Team Tszyu have officially confirmed interest in fight that could potentially take place in Las Vegas either late this year or early in 2027.

Thurman also stressed he was also still interested in a potential showdown with Tim Tszyu.

No Limit has long had interest in trying to make a card on the same weekend as the NRL’s incredibly popular season launch in Sin City, with Nikita Tszyu-Thurman an obvious headliner should that happen.

One of Nikita Tszyu's vanquished opponents has revealed the little-known soft side to Australian boxing's most sadistic slayer.

As Tszyu prepares to square off with Ben Mahoney in an IBF world title eliminator on the Gold Coast on Wednesday night, the youngest son of a gun is for once trying to keep his masochistic thoughts to himself.

Tszyu is notorious for issuing chilling warnings to his rivals, famously stating before his last fight against Oscar Diaz that he loves boxing for "the ability to just hurt someone legally" as a "loophole in my psychopathic kind of desires".

Good Things Festival Teases First Act Ahead Of 2026 Lineup Drop Tomorrow

Sound the klaxons, dust off your battle vest and prepare to absolutely obliterate the group chat: the Good Things Festival 2026 lineup is officially dropping tomorrow.

After spending the past few weeks drip-feeding us details and politely asking everyone to “put down the pitchforks” while we wait for the actual goods, organisers have now confirmed this year’s full lineup will finally be unveiled on Tuesday, 11th August at 10am AEST.

And it looks like they may have already slipped us our first artist.

Good Things announced the impending reveal via a social media video soundtracked by The All-American Rejects’ immortal 2000s emo-pop banger ‘Dirty Little Secret’.

MCR Out? Limp Bizkit Surges to 97% as the Blunt Meter Revs Up Before Good Things 2026

For months, My Chemical Romance have been the internet’s favourite Good Things 2026 theory.

With the Good Things 2026 lineup finally arriving at 10am today, our final pre-announcement read has moved harder than at any point in the rumour cycle.

And no, that isn’t because another fake festival poster landed on Reddit.

The My Chemical Romance theory was never stupid. In fact, on paper, it made a lot of sense.

Australia was missing from the band’s wider 2026 world tour plans, while their current Asian run finishes in Jakarta on November 22. That leaves enough room to get to Australia before Good Things opens in Melbourne on December 4.

The Sydney leg of this year’s Good Things Festival has found a new home.

Ahead of the Good Things 2026 lineup dropping next Tuesday 11 August, organisers have revealed the venues for this year's festival.

Arguably the best travelling heavy, alternative and punk festival in Australia, Good Things takes over the East Coast this December.

Kicking off in Melbourne on Friday 4 December, the festival returns to Flemington Racecourse, followed by dates at Sydney's Showground on Saturday 5 December and Brisbane Showgrounds on Sunday 6 December.

All venues remain the same as last year, with fans keen to be kept in the loop regarding the lineup urged to sign up to the Good Things mailing list and follow their social accounts on Instagram and Facebook.

Derryn Hinch has been remembered for his long and memorable career as a broadcaster, as well as his outspoken but likeable personality, at a state funeral service in Melbourne.

Today his friends, family and colleagues remembered him as "brave and brash, with an ego that could light up a small city".

Australian broadcaster and former senator Derryn Hinch has been remembered as a prolific journalist with a kind heart.

Hinch died aged 82 on July 10 after several years of declining health.

At a state funeral service in Melbourne today his family, friends and colleagues from the entertainment and media realms remembered a rich life, lived to the full.

Former colleagues, friends and associates of the late Derryn Hinch have begun arriving at the state funeral service for the former journalist and senator.

The media personality died earlier this month after a long battle with poor health.

Greg Evans, Ray Martin and Denis Walter have been spotted arriving at the Timber Yard in Melbourne for the midday service.

Derryn Hinch state funeral as it happened: Legendary journalist farewelled in Melbourne

Well, that brings proceedings, and our blog, to a close. We hope you enjoyed it, and whether you were a fan of Derryn Hinch or not, found reason to pause for a moment and acknowledge his big, bold, impassioned, principled, messy and marvellous life. I know I did.

They don’t make them like Hinch anymore. In truth, they never did make many of them like Hinch, ever. He was an outlier, and in his determination to grasp life by the horns and ride it like mad, you can’t help but find something to admire.

It’s time for us to join Hinch in the valediction he bestowed on himself during a television interview late last year as he contemplated his own imminent demise while sitting on his balcony on St Kilda Road. “Goodnight nurse, goodbye world.“

‘Good times never felt so good’: First look at Neil Diamond musical rehearsals

Will Swenson has been preparing to play Neil Diamond almost his entire life. “I listened to him so much as a kid, and I was playing Neil Diamond songs on the guitar when I was in eighth grade,” he says.

So playing a young Neil in A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical is a dream come true for the Broadway star. Opening early next month, the show traces the shy Jewish kid from Brooklyn’s journey to becoming a hit-making machine with sold-out concerts around the world and 140 million album sales to his name.

Like Diamond, Swenson is a baritone, so he nailed a nifty impression of the artist who penned countless hits, from singalong anthem Sweet Caroline to the number-one hit Cracklin’ Rosie.

Video: Watch the Final 'Sweet Caroline' From A BEAUTIFUL NOISE First National Tour

A Beautiful Noise: The Neil Diamond Musical officially closed its First National Tour in Kansas City, MO. The production posted a video of the final "Sweet Caroline", featuring Nick Fradiani as Neil Diamond, on their social media. Check out the video!

Plus, read the reviews for the tour of A Beautiful Noise here.

Nick Fradiani plays ‘Neil Diamond – Then’ in the national tour directly from playing the role on Broadway since October 2023. He won the title of “American Idol” in 2015 and has since released his debut album “Hurricane” in 2016, featuring the hit single “Beautiful Life.” “Past My Past,” Fradiani’s second solo album, was released in 2022. Joining Fradiani is Tony Nominee Robert Westenberg (Neil Diamond – Now), Hannah Jewel Kohn (Marcia Murphey), Lisa Reneé Pitts (Doctor), Michael Accardo (Bert Berns/ Kieve Diamond), Tuck Milligan (Fred Weintraub/ Tommy O'Rourke), Kate A. Mulligan (Ellie Greenwich/ Rose Diamond) and Tiffany Tatreau (Jaye Posner).

    Theater Review: "A Beautiful Noise"

To say Neil Diamond was important in our house when I was growing up is an understatement.  My mother, Rose, was, and still is, quite possibly his biggest fan.  She maintained that the song “Cracklin’ Rosie” was about her.  She would pay A LOT  of money every time Diamond came to Chicago so she could be in the front row.  She made him shirts, which she had sent backstage.  Let me put it this way:  I lived in Baltimore for thirteen years.  She came out to visit me twice, coincidentally at the same time Diamond was in the area.  In 1994 she called me all excited.  “Did you hear,” she asked, “Neil and Marsha are getting divorced.”  I asked who Neil and Marsha were and she replied “Neil Diamond.”  I asked, “Mom, did he ask you to marry him?”  “No.”  “Maybe next time.”

Dame Penelope Keith: The Good Life's funny and formidable star

'Globalise the intifada' chant is racist, says Starmer

Sir Keir Starmer has called for police to prosecute people chanting "globalise the intifada" during demonstrations, calling it an example of "extreme racism".

Speaking after two Jewish men were stabbed in Golders Green on Wednesday, the prime minister said the chant, based on an Arabic word for uprising, had left Jews feeling "scared, intimidated, wondering if they belong".

He added that the government was also looking at what "further measures we can take on protests", as it responds to concerns over rising antisemitism.

Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley told BBC Breakfast that people using "globalise the intifada" are "likely to be arrested".

In his speech announcing, for the millionth time, that he’s had it with anti-Semitism, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said the following:

“We will strengthen the visible police presence in our Jewish communities. We will increase our investment in those Jewish Security Services. We will introduce much stronger powers to shut down charities that promote antisemitic extremism. We will prevent hate preachers from entering our country, bar them from our campuses, our streets, our communities. Work with our justice system to speed up sentences on antisemitic attacks so there is a stronger deterrence factor as we do with riots.

Too good to lose: Why Moores wants Maxwell

Glenn Maxwell's BBL coach believes the Melbourne Stars icon has more to give amidst speculation regarding his international playing future

Melbourne Stars coach Peter Moores is adamant Australian allrounder Glenn Maxwell remains a pivotal "driver" in the organisation's pursuit of a maiden men's Big Bash title.

The third-highest run-scorer in BBL history re-signed with the Stars in January, knocking back significant interest from rival clubs by committing to a fresh two-year deal.

Despite scoring just 76 runs across 11 matches last season, Moores told cricket.com.au in February that the 37-year-old is still a key figure in his squad for next summer.

A day after Peter Moores reiterated Glenn Maxwell's value to the Melbourne Stars, the Australian all-rounder has exploded back into form to help set up a knockout clash against Steve Smith's Multan Sultans in the Pakistan Super League.

Maxwell belted 70 off 37 in a knock including eight boundaries and three sixes.

His rapid fire half-century helped power Hyderabad Kingsmen to 6/244. Fellow Australian star Marnus Labuschagne scored just five runs.

Storm star Cameron Munster admits his side have plenty to work on to rejoin the winners circle but has belief they are the team to break a well-known rugby league hoodoo.

Coming into their Round 6 match against the Warriors having lost three games in a row for the first time since 2022, Munster said the players had to take accountability for their string of poor performances.

"We're all kicking ourselves and pretty down in the dumps", Munster said of the 50-10 loss last week at the hands of Penrith.

“We've been probably below par the last three weeks and individually, you probably still have to look in the mirror, but to Panthers credit, they played a perfect game and put a lot of pressure on us.
