    Today star Sarah Abo departs show early for maternity leave following health scare

    Today star Sarah Abo has left the breakfast show early to go on maternity leave, the hosts announced on Wednesday morning.

    Presenters Sylvia Jeffreys and Charles Croucher provided the update directly from Abo, saying the presenter had suffered a few health scares and following medical advice, decided to take leave early.

    “We have a little news to share with you at home this morning, because, of course, many of our wonderful Today show viewers have been wondering where the beautiful Sarah is,” Jeffreys said.

    “She wanted us to share that while her little man isn’t here just yet, last week she received a bit of a curveball with high blood pressure, and she’s been in and out of hospital.”

    Say Goodbye to the Panama Canal: A New Ocean-to-Ocean Route Just Shipped 900 Vehicles in Just 72 Hours

    Hyundai just proved the Panama Canal is no longer the only fast route to the U.S. East Coast. And the timing could not be worse for the canal.

    A single shipment of 900 vehicles crossed southern Mexico by rail in roughly nine hours this spring, moving from the Pacific to the U.S. East Coast in about 72 hours. The operation, run by Hyundai and its logistics arm Hyundai Glovis, marks the first major international test of Mexico’s Interoceanic Corridor of the Isthmus of Tehuantepec. This 303-kilometer rail route is taking shape just as climate pressures threaten the reliability of the Panama Canal.

    Foreign minister says court ruling must not be used as leverage against Panama’s merchant fleet as ship detentions mount

    Javier Martinez-Acha Vasquez said on Monday that the lawmakers should relay a clear message to their Chinese counterparts on Panama’s behalf.

    “I can only suggest that you convey that Panama respects China, but Panama first respects the Constitution of our country, and that therefore a court ruling must be obeyed and must not be used as a basis for any kind of economic coercion against our merchant fleet,” Martinez-Acha said.

    The remarks came as seven members of Panama’s National Assembly travelled to China as part of a parliamentary friendship group.
