Grace Tame says a speaking engagement in Hobart this morning is her last for the year at this stage, blaming a "smear campaign" against her.

It comes three weeks after the Australian Jewish Association attempted to have her appearance at an event in Bendigo cancelled, after she led a chant of "globalise the intifada" in Sydney last month.

Last week, Ms Tame said she had lost three speaking engagements on the theme of child safety since the Sydney protest.

Speaking at the No to Violence conference in Hobart on Thursday, Tame said, “this is my last presentation for the year … due to an ongoing national smear campaign”.

Her appearance at the event by the national organisation and sector leader working with men to end violence against women went ahead despite demands she be removed from the program.

Candice Bergen Reflects on Life Lessons from Her Father Before Turning 80

Candace Bergen signed off as the infamous Murphy Brown nearly 40 years ago — but that doesn't mean she hasn't kept busy on the small screen since.

The most recent example is a guest appearance on season 3 of Shrinking, with her episode premiering Wednesday, March 11. And as Bergen's 80th birthday fast approaches this May, the five-time Emmy winner opened up in a new interview about her career and helpful advice she has received along the way.

That includes her father, who recognized at a certain point that Bergen was making the rest of the world double-take at her stunning looks.

"He encouraged me to develop my other abilities," Bergen told AARP's Movies for Grownups in an article published Tuesday, March 10. "He said, 'Candy, don’t rely on your beauty, because beauty goes. Develop your gifts. Develop your photography, develop your writing, develop other things and interests, because it makes for a richer life.'"

Grace Tame: Australia PM apologies for calling sexual abuse survivor 'difficult'

Australia's prime minister has apologised for calling a former Australian of the Year and sexual abuse survivor "difficult", saying it was only in reference to the hardships she has faced.

During a one-word response game, Anthony Albanese used the adjective to describe Grace Tame, who was named the 2021 Australian of the Year for her advocacy for child sexual abuse survivors.

Tame, 31, said the description was "misogynist's code for a woman who won't comply. History tends to call her 'courageous'."

It prompted Albanese to apologise "if there was any misinterpretation" and that Tame "has had a very difficult life, but she deserves great credit for turning that into a benefit for others".
