With fascinating insights, they reveal the highs and lows of filming the series during a truly exciting moment in television history, when global jet travel and colour filming were still in their infancy. Along the way, the crew encountered multiple challenges, including a coup in the Comoros, being shot at in Rwanda and threats from Saddam Hussein’s army in Iraq.
Choir celebrates Sir David Attenborough with song
A climate choir and conservation art group gathered on Plymouth Hoe to film a video ahead of Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday.
Members of the Plymouth Climate Choir sang a song called Natural World earlier with the hope it will be included in a worldwide chorus set to be released ahead of the broadcaster's birthday on 8 May.
Versions of the song have been filmed all over the world, supported by musicians Pete Townshend and Brian Eno.
Rebel Botanists, a Plymouth-based environmental conservation organisation, also drew a large design on Plymouth Hoe in chalk to celebrate Sir David's work.
Founder of the organisation Elizabeth Richmond designed the artwork and said Attenborough meant "everything" to her.

To celebrate this incredible milestone, the BBC has announced a week of special programming featuring both classic and new works by the iconic presenter. Among them is a new documentary, Making Life on Earth: Attenboroughâs Greatest Adventure, which offers a behind-the-scenes look at the groundbreaking Life on Earth series which first aired in 1979.
