Nathan Cleary has defended Phoenix Crossland against online abuse, saying the tackle that broke his leg was a "complete accident".

Crossland has been referred straight to the judiciary over the tackle, with a hearing set for tonight at 6pm AEST.

Nathan Cleary has leapt to the defence of Newcastle hooker Phoenix Crossland, pleading with fans to stop peppering the embattled Knight with social media abuse as he prepares to plead his case to the NRL judiciary tonight.

'Massive shoes to fill': Graham out to honour close mate Phoenix

The pain of seeing his close mate miss out on an NRL grand final is driving Harrison Graham as he prepares to replace Phoenix Crossland for Sunday's clash with the Roosters.

Crossland has been referred straight to the judiciary for a hip-drop tackle on Nathan Cleary in last weekend's preliminary final and is expected to be suspended for the decider.

Graham stepped into the No.9 duties when Crossland was sent off last week and played a key role in leading the 12-man Knights past Penrith in a stunning upset.

The 25-year-old has been heavily favoured to start at hooker in the grand final and knows exactly where to turn to for advice.

Gruesome images in D4vd hearing are 'worst nightmare' for Celeste Rivas Hernandez's family

Gruesome images of a teenage girl's dismembered corpse have been shown in court before her horrified parents on the opening day of a preliminary hearing in the murder case against the singer who performs under the stage name D4vd.

Prosecutors presented graphic crime scene photos showing 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez's body when it was found last year inside a Tesla registered to singer David Anthony Burke in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

A homicide detective testified that Burke, 21, had ordered a body bag, chainsaws, an inflatable pool and a shovel online in the days after Celeste's death.

Burke has pleaded not guilty to charges of murdering and sexually abusing the girl.

LA prosecutors present gruesome evidence in murder case against singer D4vd

Prosecutors seeking to try musician, born David Anthony Burke, for murder over death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez

Prosecutors began to lay out gruesome evidence on Tuesday as a hearing began to prove there is probable cause for singer D4vd to stand trial for the murder and sexual abuse of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, a minor whose severed body parts were discovered in his car.

Prosecutors have accused the musician, born David Anthony Burke, of stabbing Hernandez to death at his Los Angeles residence last April to silence her from divulging the sexual nature of their relationship as his career was on the rise , according to court documents. The state says the sexual abuse began in November 2023, when Burke was 18 and Hernandez was 13.

Grisly photos of the dismembered corpse of a teenage girl were made public Tuesday morning at a preliminary hearing in the murder case against the singer D4vd, who prosecutors say used a chainsaw to mutilate the body of Celeste Rivas Hernandez after he killed her to cover up years of alleged sexual abuse.

Hernandez’s body was found in September 2025 in Hollywood inside the trunk of a Tesla registered to the singer, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke. The case immediately drew international headlines, but details of the crime scene had only been described in writing until the hearing against Burke began Tuesday morning.
