    Sydney woman pleads guilty to 'macabre' manslaughter of husband

    A Sydney woman has pleaded guilty to her husband's manslaughter in a case police previously described as "bizarre".

    Nirmeen Noufl was due to face court in a murder trial this week, but a judge was told the matter had "resolved", subject to agreement.

    A Sydney woman has pleaded guilty to manslaughter over the death of her husband in a case police previously described as "macabre" and "bizarre" due to how they suspected she had disposed of his remains.

    The 62-year-old had not been seen since May of that year.

    Sydney woman admits killing and dismembering husband, escapes murder conviction

    A woman who killed her husband told a confidant she “had enough” of his endless abuse after stabbing him to death with a tool, dismembering his corpse, and distributing it in bins around the city.

    Nirmeen Noufl, 56, was charged in October 2024 with murdering her husband, Mamdouh, at their Greenacre home.

    Mamdouh Noufl, 62, was reported missing by friends in July the previous year after vanishing months earlier.

    Nirmeen Noufl dialled in to the Supreme Court’s King Street complex on Wednesday morning from a small, grey prison room wearing a white veil.

    She was formally arraigned on a charge she murdered her husband about May 3, 2023 at Greenacre.

    Sydney wife accused of butchering husband admits to killing

    A woman accused of killing her husband with kitchen knives, dismembering him and disposing of his body in bin bags, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

    Nirmeen Noufl was due to stand trial in the NSW Supreme Court after pleading not guilty to murdering her husband in May 2023.

    But the trial was delayed at the last moment and, on Wednesday, the 55-year-old pleaded guilty to manslaughter of 62-year-old Mamdouh Noufl.

    She had a blank expression, sitting in a custody cell which beamed into the courtroom before pleading not guilty to murdering her husband.

    Teacher guilty of sexually abusing and murdering adopted baby

    A teacher has been found guilty of sexually abusing and murdering the 13-month-old baby boy he adopted with his partner.

    Preston Davey died in July 2023 at the hands of Jamie Varley, 37, who took a year off work to adopt him.

    Varley, from Blackpool, told police Preston had accidentally drowned in a bath, but a post-mortem examination discovered the child had suffered 40 injuries.

    His partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, 32, has been found guilty of sexual assault, child cruelty and allowing the death of a child. The pair will be sentenced on Thursday.

    Preston was adopted by Varley and McGowan-Fazakerley, a financial sales manager, in April 2023 and in the next four months he suffered sexual abuse and ill-treatment, the trial at Preston Crown Court heard.

    A schoolteacher described as a “serial manipulator and a serial liar” has been found guilty of sexually abusing and murdering a baby he and his partner had adopted.

    Jamie Varley, 37, of Staining, Lancashire, had denied being responsible for the death of 13-month-old Preston Davey but after an eight-week trial was found guilty of the baby’s murder, as well as two counts of assault by penetration, five counts of cruelty to a child, grievous bodily harm and sexual assault of a child.

    Jamie Varley denies murdering his adopted baby son Preston Davey

    A former teacher who abused and then murdered his adopted baby son told detectives he would "fight them to the day I die" while protesting his innocence.

    Jamie Varley, now 37, was arrested after the death of 13-month-old Preston Davey on 27 July 2023 and taken into custody for questioning by Lancashire Police.

    Varley, described by Det Ch Insp Andy Fallows as a "manipulator", denied killing the little boy after inflicting months of sexual and physical abuse.

    Varley, from Blackpool, was convicted on Monday after an eight-week trial at Preston Crown Court.
