Kaylee McKeown had one of her world records broken. It could be a blessing in disguise

Olympic great Kaylee McKeown has revealed she won’t race internationally for the remainder of the year and says losing her 50-metre backstroke world record has lit a fire inside her ahead of a historic quest for glory at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The 25-year-old, who missed the recent Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and Pan Pacific Championships in California due to glandular fever, is prioritising her health and will sit out World Cup events in October, as well as the World Short Course Championships in China in December.

McKeown, a five-time Olympic gold medallist, said earlier this month she hoped to be back racing on the world stage later this year, but she and her coach, Michael Sage, have agreed to instead target next year’s longcourse world championships in Budapest.

‘Hungrier than ever’: Star’s vow after health scare

Real Housewives, spring cleaning and three dogs – that was Kaylee McKeown’s recovery before targeting an unprecedented LA28 backstroke three-peat.

Under Armour Launches New Brand Platform Centered on Commit, Spotlighting the Growth and Rewards Found in Sport

SINGAPORE, Aug. 21, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Under Armour today launched "Commit", its new brand platform that brings to life the commitment stories and moments of athletes who keep showing up for the sports they love.

The platform reflects Under Armour's belief that what draws people back to the track, the court, the gym and the field goes beyond results. It is the strength, growth, freedom, joy and fulfillment discovered when they truly commit to something they believe in.

While sports narratives have long spotlighted championships, records and breakthroughs, Under Armour is turning its attention to what happens before the outcome: the first breath of cold air at the start of an early run, the instinct to take one more rep after training ends, the courage to get back up after a fall. For Under Armour, commitment is never a decision made in a single moment: it's written into the stories of showing up, again and again.

Roz Hervey had hours left to live. She asked her family to press record

As she looks down the barrel of the camera, Roz Hervey faces her imminent death with composure and determination.

"I am ready," the Adelaide-based dancer and artistic director states calmly as her husband Geoff Cobham and children Tilda and Huey Cobham-Hervey watch on.

"It is so, so important that people have the opportunity to die with dignity. I get to choose my beautiful surroundings, people who I love around me and dying in a calm, beautiful, and graceful way."

Having dedicated her life to making art that provoked thought and discussion, Roz, 58, approached her death with the same intention.

In the final hours of her life, Roz had one last creative mission to enact, one that motor neurone disease (MND) had not robbed her of being able to deliver. She asked her family to document her video message.

    Australian Story: Aug 17

Australian Story profiles the story of Tilda Cobham-Hervey’s mother Roz, dying with dignity.

It was a mother’s dying wish. When dancer Roz Hervey was diagnosed with motor neurone disease, her daughter, actor Tilda Cobham-Hervey, stepped behind the camera to record her story. Roz dedicated her life to making art that pushed boundaries. She faced death in the same way.

In her final hours, she made an impassioned plea. “It was a call to arms for us to get the information out there about voluntary assisted dying,” Tilda tells Australian Story. After being diagnosed with MND in 2022, Roz was determined to “seize the day”.

Why Ricky Stuart had every right to publicly blast Corey Horsburgh

Ricky Stuart was well within his rights to give Corey Horsburgh both barrels at Sunday’s press conference.

Forget the nonsense about the Canberra coach “gaslighting” his forward – who had been sin-binned for striking Dane Gagai in the closing stages of Canberra’s 30-24 loss to Newcastle, which ended their slim finals hopes – as claimed by Corey Parker on SEN radio. Forget the rubbish about how Stuart should have kept his thoughts to himself, or that any reprimand should have taken place behind closed doors.

For what it’s worth, Stuart did blast Horsburgh in the sheds straight after full-time. Horsburgh did not appreciate it, and hit back.

Unpopular move to save Fozball; why Dragons have to rethink call on young gun

No wonder Ricky Stuart didn’t waste his energy trying to defend Corey Horsburgh’s latest brain explosion.

Go back and watch the replay that led to Horsburgh’s controversial sin binning.

Watch every game of every round of the NRL Premiership LIVE with no ad-breaks during play on FOX LEAGUE, available on Kayo Sports | New to Kayo? Join now and get your first month for just $1.

You will notice Dane Gagai is lashing out with his feet as Horsburgh has him pinned to the ground.

And whatever it was that Horsburgh was doing with his left hand positioned around the centre of Gagai’s buttock’s region, the optics certainly didn’t look good.

Ariana Grande has had enough of body comments, but 'scrutiny' will linger

Three years ago, Ariana Grande made a plea for people not to comment about her body.

Responding in a TikTok video to comments about her weight and figure, the pop star and actress told fans there were "many different ways to look healthy and beautiful".

Three years on, and the social media speculation about her body and her health has continued. After "endless, ongoing public scrutiny", the star's spokesperson released a statement saying she "will be taking a step back from visibility" at the end of her current tour.

"She looks forward to finishing the tour and ending it on a high note, both healthily and happily," the statement stressed, "and then taking a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny."

Ariana Grande breaks silence amid growing fan concern: ‘I want to be very, very clear’

Ariana Grande has spoken out for the first time about her decision to take a break from the spotlight amid growing concerns about her health.

The 33-year-old singer shared an emotional message with fans on Monday during the first night of her Eternal Sunshine tour, revealing that while she is “healing” she wanted to “clear the air”.

“So basically, the announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing,” Grande told the crowd.

She said the decision was planned and one she “had quietly made a long time ago”.

Ariana Grande expands on decision to ‘step back from visibility’, telling fans it was ‘not reactive or impulsive’

Singer and actor, whose world tour ends next month, told audience in Chicago that she had been quietly planning the move for a long time

Ariana Grande has expanded upon her recent decision to take “a step back from visibility” when her tour ends next month, as a result of what a spokesperson called “endless, ongoing public scrutiny”.

On Monday night during the first show of a three-night run in Chicago, the 33-year-old musician and actor read from notes as she told fans: “The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It is something that I had decided to plan quietly, a long time ago.”

We had the origin of more than 200 tomato products tested. The results were shocking

One of Australia's biggest tomato brands and two major supermarkets are selling products that independent scientific testing shows do not match the country of origin stated on their labels.

Forensic testing conducted for Four Corners has revealed dozens of tomato paste and passata products that claim to be from Australia or Italy are actually from China.

About half of those are sourced from Xinjiang, an area known internationally for its use of forced labour.

The majority of Leggo's tomato paste products tested, in tins, cans, and bottles, were found to have misleading labels. The company, owned by US food giant Simplot, makes strong claims on its packaging that it sources from Australian farms.

Food fraud investigation reveals the disturbing truth behind the labels

Australians could be paying for food that is not what it claims to be.

A Four Corners investigation has uncovered products whose labels did not match independent scientific testing, raising serious questions about the integrity of Australia's food supply.

From cage-free eggs and Australian seafood to tomato products, spices and alcohol, the findings expose weaknesses in the systems designed to protect consumers.

The eight-month investigation collated thousands of food import inspection records, national food recalls, state regulatory records and international food fraud intelligence.

It found that, despite hundreds of contaminated or unsafe food products being detected at the border each year, including rice containing arsenic and cheese contaminated with listeria, only a fraction of imported food is inspected, and testing for dangerous contaminants has declined since 2019.

‘We had a date with destiny’: De la Fuente lauds Spain players after World Cup victory

Spain’s manager, Luis de la Fuente, hailed his players for fulfilling what he described as “their destiny” by winning a second World Cup final against 10-man Argentina.

The reigning champions were second best throughout but it took until the second period of extra time for Spain to find the breakthrough from the substitute, Ferran Torres. Nico Williams saw his goal disallowed in the first half of extra time, while Enzo Fernández became the sixth player – and third from Argentina – to be sent off in a World Cup final after the Chelsea midfielder was shown a second yellow card in the 93rd minute.

    ‘A connection I haven’t had before’: Ryan’s tribute to 150-game best mate

Defender and best mate Luke Ryan has shared his thoughts on Brennan Cox ahead of his 150th game for Fremantle

Ahead of Saturday’s clash with Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval, where Brennan Cox will celebrate his 150th AFL game for Fremantle, Ryan said watching his great mate grow and change over his journey has been as special as it has been fun.

Speaking to the Club, Ryan jokingly remarked that, despite the pair being taken in the later stages of the 2016 National Draft and relocating to WA, their now well-known friendship actually got off to a shaky start.

“It's actually funny because we actually didn't really like each other at the start,” Ryan joked.

Novak Djokovic has given a ballgirl the fright of her life at Wimbledon, pretending she stabbed him with a pair of scissors during his second-round match.

The seven-time champion was in the midst of a clinical straight-sets win over Stefanos Tsitsipas when he required a tag to be cut off his shirt.

Djokovic was sitting steadily while the young volunteer helped him with the issue, but couldn’t help himself and decided to prank her.

It led to a classic moment between the pair, with the girl jumping back in fright before covering her mouth in laughter when she realised Djokovic was joking.
