Trump says he had 'no idea' Anthropic's Amodei met with White House about Mythos

The White House said its meeting with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei was "productive and constructive" on Friday, the latest sign of a potential thaw in the standoff between the government and the leading artificial intelligence company.

But when President Donald Trump was asked about Amodei's visit on a runway in Phoenix, Ariz., he responded, "Who?" and then said he had "no idea."

Amodei met with Susie Wiles, the White House chief of staff, and other senior administration officials to talk about the company's powerful new Mythos model, which was announced earlier this month. U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent was one of the officials in attendance, according to a source familiar with the matter who asked not to be named because the meeting was private.

White House and Anthropic Hold ‘Productive’ Meeting, Aiming for a Compromise

Friday’s meeting at the White House followed the introduction of Anthropic’s powerful new artificial intelligence model, Mythos, which U.S. officials believe could be critical for security.

Julian E. Barnes and Tyler Pager reported from Washington and Sheera Frenkel reported from San Francisco.

Anthropic’s chief executive met with White House officials on Friday for discussions that both sides described as “productive,” as the Trump administration works to forge a compromise that would bring the artificial intelligence company’s technology back into the government, according to U.S. officials and others briefed on the matter.

Dario Amodei, Anthropic’s chief executive, met with the White House chief of staff, Susie Wiles, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and others at the White House, the people said.

CEO of blacklisted Anthropic is going to the White House

Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei visited the White House on Friday for a high-stakes meeting with the president’s top adviser, while his AI company battles the Trump administration in court for blacklisting its Claude AI model.

Amodei met with White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, two sources familiar with the meeting told CNN. Axios first reported on the meeting.

The meeting took place as the US government is trying to balance its hardline approach to Anthropic with the national security implications of turning its back on the company’s breakthrough technology – including its Mythos tool that can identify cybersecurity threats but also present a roadmap for hackers to attack companies or the government.

US Ticketmaster and Live Nation had an anticompetitive monopoly over big concert venues, jury finds

New York: A jury has found that concert giant Live Nation and its Ticketmaster subsidiary had a harmful monopoly over big concert venues, dealing the company a loss in a lawsuit over claims brought by dozens of US states and the District of Columbia.

A Manhattan federal jury deliberated for four days before reaching its decision Wednesday in the closely watched case, which gave fans the equivalent of a backstage pass to a business that dominates live entertainment in the US and beyond.

“It’s a great day for antitrust law,” a jubilant attorney, Jeffrey Kessler, said as he emerged from the courthouse.

Live Nation illegally monopolized ticketing market, jury in antitrust trial finds

A jury in a high-stakes antitrust trial found Wednesday that Live Nation and its subsidiary Ticketmaster illegally maintained monopoly power in the ticketing market.

Jurors delivered the verdict in federal court in New York City after around five weeks of trial, which featured testimony from dozens of witnesses. The jury began deliberating Friday.

The complaint, initially brought by the Justice Department and dozens of state attorneys general in 2024, claimed Live Nation monopolized the industry by controlling ticketing, concert booking, venues and promotions.

The lawsuit alleged that the company engaged in “anticompetitive conduct,” resulting in fans’ paying higher fees, artists’ having fewer options for touring and venues’ being coerced to use Ticketmaster.

Jarome Luai had his best game yet for Wests Tigers. These two words explain why

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them anytime.

You only need two words to explain why Jarome Luai played his best game yet for the Wests Tigers in last weekend’s thumping victory over North Queensland: Adam Doueihi.

Before the start of pre-season, coach Benji Marshall told Doueihi he would be the starting No.7 this year. Not only was he more than capable of steering the team around the park, the 27-year-old’s control and experience would free up Luai to become the carefree, running five-eighth he was at Penrith.

“When I started coaching here as an assistant, I said to Adam at the time, ‘You could be one of the biggest, hybrid No.7s going around’,” Marshall said this week.

Haas's Esteban Ocon has detailed the unusual fear he has after the first qualifying session of 2026.

Esteban Ocon has explained how he felt his head "is still about to explode" with all the demands placed on F1 drivers after Australian Grand Prix qualifying.

Ocon will line up 13th on the grid in Melbourne, one place behind team-mate Oliver Bearman, as the new energy demands on drivers were highlighted for the first time.

Reaction to the energy-harvesting requirements has been near-universal in its condemnation from the field, with even champions McLaren, powered by a class-leading Mercedes HPP, on the back foot.

Seth Had to Prove He Wasn't Hugh Grant at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics

Seth takes a minute to talk about his experience attending the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympic Games.

Fans in the U.S. saw a record-setting performance from Team USA.

It's time to honor the most (and least) notable performers in the Olympics.

Hanover, New Hampshire, might not be the first locale to come to mind in connection with the Winter Olympics, but it should.

In a world where pro athletes are coached to be as deliberately dull as possible in their public statements, the Olympics are a refreshing throwback to an era when athletes spoke their minds.

On the penultimate day of the Milan Cortina Olympics, plenty of medals were up for grabs.

Seth Meyers Has Priceless Reaction to Being Mistaken for Hugh Grant at Olympics

Seth Meyers detailed his experience at the 2026 Olympics, which included an awkward fan exchange where he was mistaken for Hugh Grant—but the TV host had a hilarious reaction to the mix-up.

Seth Meyers is just a man, standing in front of cameras, asking to be properly identified by fans.

After attending the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics, the late-night television host detailed his whirlwind experience at the Winter Games, which included a run-in with one person who thought he was Hugh Grant.

“I was walking around and Americans were stopping to say hello. Canadians were stopping to say hello. A lot of Scandinavians were stopping to say hello,” Seth explained on the Feb. 23 episode of Late Night with Seth Meyers. “A lot of people wanted pictures.”

"I'm not that spaced out…" : 22 years ago, Jack Nicholson made a legendary appearance that made cinematic history

In 2003, the Critics Choice Awards delivered a rarity: Best Actor split between Jack Nicholson and Daniel Day-Lewis. What followed was an acceptance scene that slipped its moorings, with Robin Williams shifting the mood from stately to unhinged. Laughter rippled into full throttle as the room realized it was watching something unrepeatable. The chemistry between two giants turned a routine thank you into awards lore, a moment that still echoes whenever ceremonies flirt with chaos.

The 2003 Critics Choice Awards promised poise, polish, and star power. On the Best Actor slate were Jack Nicholson for About Schmidt, Daniel Day-Lewis for Gangs of New York, and Robin Williams for One Hour Photo. The category took an unusual turn when the prize landed in a rare tie between Nicholson and Day-Lewis. It was the 8th edition of the show, yet what followed would make it feel utterly new.

Batman in 1983: The Movie We Almost Got Before Tim Burton Changed Everything

By the time .css-ak7tmt-Italic{font-style:italic;}Batman arrived in theaters in 1989, it felt inevitable. The black suit. The gothic skyline. Danny Elfman’s operatic score. Jack Nicholson’s Joker. Tim Burton’s vision was so dominant it rewired how pop culture saw the character.

But six years earlier, Batman was already this close to becoming a movie star.

In 1983, Warner Bros. commissioned a full feature screenplay titled The Batman, written by Tom Mankiewicz — the screenwriter behind Superman and several James Bond films. It was not a joke draft. It wasn’t campy leftovers from the Adam West era. It was a serious attempt to bring Batman back to the big screen.

Zoo Announces Sudden Death of 'Beloved' Animal

Grey’s Anatomy and Euphoria star Eric Dane has revealed he plans to keep acting after his diagnosis with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Dane, 53, appeared in an episode of NBC drama Brilliant Minds, his first on-screen role since announcing his diagnosis in April. His character was a firefighter struggling to share his ALS diagnosis with his wife. On Tuesday, Dane was a guest on a virtual panel hosted by the I AM ALS organization. “I’m fairly limited in what I can do physically as an actor, but I still have my brain, and I still have my speech, so I’m willing to just do about anything. I’ll take on any role,” Dane said. However, he said the neurodegenerative disease will limit his choices. “From here on out, it’s going to have to be ALS-centric. It’s going to be very difficult for me to play any other role. I’m fine with that. I’m grateful that I can still work in any capacity.” Dane said he had surprised himself with how well he was dealing with ALS. “I don’t think anybody would blame me if I went upstairs in my bedroom, crawled under the sheets, and spent the next two weeks crying,” he said. “And I was a little bit pleasantly surprised when I realized that I wasn’t built like that, because I thought, for sure, that was gonna be me.” The actor said he was keen to inspire other people, noting, “It’s imperative that I share my journey with as many people as I can because I don’t feel like my life is about me anymore.” There is currently no cure for ALS, which causes progressive degeneration of nerve cells in the spinal cord and brain.
