James Bond studio heads urge patience over casting announcement

Executives from Amazon MGM are no closer to revealing who is lined up for the coveted role, saying, ‘We’re taking the time to do this with care and deep respect’

The new James Bond studio heads have attempted to calm fans about who will play the British spy in the new film.

Speaking at trade show CinemaCon in the US on Wednesday, executives from Amazon MGM studios – which bought the series rights as part of an $8.45bn (£6.9bn) deal in 2022 – indicated that an abundance of caution on their part meant the role was not yet cast.

“I know you’re all wondering when we’re going to announce who’s playing James Bond,” said Courtenay Valenti, Amazon MGM’s head of film. “Don’t get too excited. Please know that we’re taking the time to do this with care and deep respect. It is the dream of a lifetime for all of us to bring audiences this next chapter, and it’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.”

Amazon film boss addresses five-year wait for new James Bond: ‘That film is coming’

James Bond fans have been given a long-awaited update on the franchise – but we’re still in the dark as to who will be the next 007.

Having initially been slated for release in April 2020, No Time To Die was delayed by the pandemic and Daniel Craig’s final outing as Bond eventually arrived in cinemas in October 2021.

With speculation rife over who would be stepping into his shoes, Amazon made a controversial purchase of MGM Studios in January last year, taking control of the much-loved franchise.

Amazon MGM Studios’ head of film Courtenay Valenti has now offered an update on what’s going on behind the scenes, telling attendees at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday: “Now, I know you’re all wondering when we’re going to announce who’s playing James Bond.

James Bond Casting Process Teased by Amazon MGM: “A Responsibility We Don’t Take Lightly”

"Please know that we’re taking the time to do this with care and deep respect," film boss Courtenay Valenti told the audience at CinemaCon.

There might be no time to die, but there is time to find the perfect James Bond.

During Amazon MGM Studios‘ presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Wednesday, the studio’s head of film Courtenay Valenti gave a hint into the casting process for the forthcoming installment in the beloved spy franchise from director Denis Villeneuve.

“Now, I know you’re all wondering when we’re going to announce who’s playing James Bond,” the exec told the crowd. “Please know that we’re taking the time to do this with care and deep respect. It is the dream of a lifetime for all of us to bring audiences this next chapter, and it’s a responsibility we don’t take lightly.”

Di Giannantonio heads Bezzecchi after dramatic first qualifying in Brazil

The Q1 graduates steal the show, Marc Marquez takes third and Quartararo makes some magic to head Row 2

Fabio Di Giannantonio (Pertamina Enduro VR46 Racing Team) came out on top in a dramatic Q2 in Brazil, moving through from Q1 to head the grid despite a crash on a lap that would have put him even quicker. His 1:17.410 sees him secure pole ahead of fellow Q1 graduate Marco Bezzecchi (Aprilia Racing), with Marc Marquez (Ducati Lenovo Team) forced to settle for third after a crash on his first run. He was far from the only one.

A word up top for the rider in fourth too – with Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) putting in a stunner to qualify fourth and head Row 2 in the new V4-powered YZR-M1’s second full-time Grand Prix.

The VR46 rider edged out Aprilia’s Thai Grand Prix winner Marco Bezzecchi by just 0.070s, despite a late fall, after both battled through Qualifying 1 to reach Q2.

Reigning champion Marc Marquez was also among the five fallers but salvaged a front row for Ducati Lenovo.

Fabio Quartararo reproduced some of his qualifying magic to put Yamaha’s new V4 into fourth on the grid, ahead of Bezzecchi’s team-mate Jorge Martin and the fellow RS-GP of Ai Ogura.

Knicks' Jalen Brunson: Heads to locker room

Brunson went back to the locker room during Wednesday's game against Sacramento due to an apparent ankle injury, Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News reports.

Brunson limped off the floor and back toward the locker room with a suspected ankle injury. While he's sidelined, look for Miles McBride and Tyler Kolek to handle most of the point guard duties.

Jalen Brunson limps off court after twisting right ankle in major Knicks injury worry

The Knicks point guard came up limp with 7:45 left in the first quarter of Wednesday’s game against the Kings, when he twisted his right ankle while dribbling near the 3-point line.

There was no contact on the play — Brunson just tried to plant his foot and it turned.

He played a couple more possessions before being subbed out, then retreated to the locker room before the Knicks listed him as “questionable” to return.

It’s the same right ankle that sent Brunson into a month of recovery last season because of a sprain. Brunson sprained it again in November of this season and missed two games.
