LOTS of talking points and goals to enjoy on Sportscene later.

Tomorrow, we have Falkirk v Rangers at noon. Can Danny Roh's side make it a clean sweep for the top three?

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin told BBC Scotland: "I think we probably stole the points in the end. First half
, we were relatively comfortable and Livingston didn’t really carry any threat.
We were on top in the game and had one or two half-chances and Will Ferry
    scores a really good goal.

"I was relaxed and didn’t see the start to the second half
coming. Two really poor goals from our point of view.

Scottish Premiership: Hearts leave it late to sink Motherwell as Celtic keep up the heat

Late double sees Hearts win 3-1, Celtic beat St Mirren 1-0

Celtic leapfrogged rivals Rangers to move second in the Premiership with a narrow 1-0 win over St Mirren but Hearts stayed clear at the top as two late goals saw them past Motherwell 3-1.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s first-half strike was enough at Celtic Park, while Rangers head to Falkirk on Sunday and can reduce Hearts’ lead to one point again with victory.

Oxlade-Chamberlain was on target after 15 minutes, having had a goal chalked off for offside before that, and it was fairly comfortable for Celtic in the first half without creating too many clear-cut chances, though St Mirren did look a threat on the break.

The controversial late penalty that helped Hearts in title race

Hearts won on a dramatic afternoon in the Scottish Premiership as Derek McInnes’ side came from behind to beat Motherwell. The Tynecastle side went behind but the late penalty helped maintain the Jambos spot at the top of the table, even if it looked as if Motherwell were unlucky not to leave with something.

The major talking point came after Stephen Welsh was penalised for a foul in the box on Kabore.

Matthew MacDermid was instructed by his colleague on VAR Steven McLean to watch the sequence of play before pointing to the spot. Lawrence Shankland netted to make it 2-1 in the 87th minute.

Dundee change things up again with Charlie Reilly and Billy Koumetio on for the last few minutes.

As we head into the 90th minute, the signal goes up for a further seven minutes of stoppage time.

James Forrest cushions an Anthony Ralston delivery back across the face of goal but there are no takers in green and white.

A free-kick is touched to Benjamin Nygren and the Swede's 30-yard dig swerves just wide of the top corner.

Ryan Astley is sent packing for taking out Yang Hyun-Jun as the Celtic winger tries to burst clear.

Celtic have started to do what they were doing in the first half.

Hearts stumble in title fight despite Shankland and Braga strikes against Livi

Lawrence Shankland and Claudio Braga used their heads at one end to help Hearts back to the top.

But, as the boys at the other couldn’t keep theirs, the lead was contained to just a solitary point as Derek McInnes’ let two painfully slither away.

Having fallen behind in the standings for the first time in 189 days due to Rangers’ win the previous day, scrutiny turned straight onto the Tynecastle response.

Facing the team at the foot of the table, it felt like one McInnes men really needed to win to re-stamp a proper authority at the summit.

The fact they didn’t was a bitter disappointment. Chuck in the additional fact that they were also in front and in position to do so just added to their frustration.

Hearts‘ stars were probably tucked up in bed when soon-to-retire Derek Chisora lost on points to Deontay Wilder late on Saturday night.

They’d already been dropped to second place for the first time in seven months by Rangers’ win against Dundee United earlier in the day.

Hearts & Celtic in seismic showdown, Olsen primed for Rangers debut

It is an indication of the importance of Sunday's game that Scottish Premiership leaders Hearts and second-top reigning champions Celtic have both been scrambling to acquire new signings to bolster their starting line-ups at Tynecastle.

Not surprising considering the consensus is that January recruitment could be the telling factor in what is now a three-horse race for the title.

Doubly so for Hearts considering they have lost possibly their two most key players in captain Lawrence Shankland and midfield dynamo Cammy Devlin to lengthy spells on the sidelines.

They also have another influential midfielder, Beni Baningime, suspended for Celtic's visit.

WE CAN'T AFFORD TO LOSE: Martin O'Neill admits it will be 'a long way back' for Celtic in title face if Hearts beat them in Tynecastle showdown

Martin O’Neill admits it will be ‘a long way back’ for Celtic in the title race if they lose Sunday's top-of-the-table showdown with Hearts.

Derek McInnes’ men are currently six points clear of both Old Firm sides in the race to win the Premiership, and defeat at Tynecastle would leave the defending champions facing a nine-point deficit.

With in-form Rangers facing Dundee at Ibrox at the same time on Sunday, the battle for the Premiership crown is going into overdrive this weekend.

‘It’s going to be very big, no question about it,’ said  73-year-old manager O'Neill. ‘If we get beaten, it’s a long way back for us. It’s a bit of a trek at the minute, so we would go out to try and win the game if we can.

Hearts: McInnes eyes more signings who can 'make the difference'

Derek McInnes has hinted at further January signings after Hearts secured a pre-contract deal for Uganda forward Rogers Mato to join in the summer.

The 22-year-old, who was subject of a rejected 350,000 euro offer from Hearts, has agreed a three-year contract to move to Tynecastle in the summer when his FK Vardar deal expires.

It remains to be seen if Premiership leaders Hearts will renew their attempts to buy Mato this month, but McInnes, who has already added Jordi Altena and Islam Chesnokov since the window opened, says the club are equipped to land players who can "make the difference".

Hearts agree pre-contract with Uganda forward Mato

Heart of Midlothian insist Rogers Mato will definitely join them this summer despite the Uganda forward's current club, Vardar, claiming they have accepted an £870,000 offer from Kansas City for the 22-year-old.

It comes a day after the Scottish Premiership leaders announced that Mato had agreed a three-year contract to join them as a free agent in July.

Now North Macedonian top-flight leaders Vardar have proclaimed that he instead "will play against Messi, Suarez, Giroud, Lloris, Busquets" in Major League Soccer.

They admit that Kansas and Mato have still to agree personal terms but say he can expect a monthly salary of £35,000, plus bonuses.
