    Helicopter crashes in Chatsworth

    NBCLA anchor Colleen Williams announces that the helicopter that crashed in Chatsworth, California, on Tuesday afternoon belonged to NBC4 Los Angeles and Telemundo 52.

    Three people were killed and one person was hospitalized Tuesday night when a helicopter covering news for NBCLA and Telemundo 52 crashed in the Los Angeles community of Chatsworth.

    The crash was reported just before 7 p.m. in the 9100 block of North Mason Avenue in Chastworth, a neighborhood in northern Los Angeles, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

    NBCLA confirmed the helicopter was NewsChopper4, which is operated by Angel City Air, and was providing news coverage. Several TV news helicopters were in the west San Fernando Valley community reporting on a crash involving a Metro bus.

    Three people were killed Tuesday in a fiery crash when a US news media helicopter covering a deadly bus crash came down in a Los Angeles neighbourhood.

    Media in the city had scrambled to cover a deadly accident, after an SUV ploughed into a bus in the Chatsworth area, northwest of downtown, killing another three people and injuring many others in a city where news outlets routinely fly over large incidents.

    Reporters who were at the scene of the bus crash said there was a loud bang, with some saying they saw a helicopter come down around a block away, sending plumes of smoke into the air.

    Los Angeles crash: Helicopter crashes near site of deadly Chatsworth bus collision

    CHATSWORTH, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — At least three people were killed after an NBC4 news helicopter crashed near the scene of a deadly bus collision in Chatsworth on Tuesday evening, authorities said.

    The helicopter crashed between two commercial buildings in the 9100 block of Mason Avenue around 7 p.m., the Los Angeles Fire Department said. In addition to the three people who died at the scene, one person nearby was taken to the hospital after suffering an apparent panic attack.

    NBC4 confirmed on air shortly before 9 p.m. that the aircraft that crashed was the station's helicopter.

    An LAFD spokesperson said one of the people killed was a pedestrian on the ground. It's unclear whether the other victims were aboard the helicopter.

    John "Stinker" Clarke was left floating in rough seas after his boat capsized off the coast of Port Stephens last week.

    A multi-agency team spent hours battling strong winds and rising swells in the dark to find the 77-year-old fisherman.

    Mr Clarke was today reunited with the rescuers who helped save his life.

    A life jacket, an oar and a plastic bucket stopped "Stinker" from becoming a sinker, and today the 77-year-old was reunited with the rescuers who saved his life.

    John Clarke, known locally as "Stinker", thought he was heading out for a routine fish when he launched his tinnie off Port Stephens on June 24.

    ABC fishing star rescued from rough seas after boat capsizes

    A 77-year-old man is lucky to be alive after his boat capsized and smashed against rocks in waters north of Newcastle. 

    ABC fishing correspondent John "Stinker" Clarke was rescued off the coast of Port Stephens last night, clinging to debris amid 2.5 metre swells.

    It is understood Mr Clarke has been released from hospital, where he was treated for hypothermia.

    John Clarke, known to thousands of ABC radio listeners as "Stinker", has survived a harrowing ordeal in rough seas north of Newcastle.
