Bangladesh have completed one of the biggest upsets in Test cricket history, defeating Australia by nine wickets in Darwin.

“What a magical moment – the giant slayers have defeated Australia for the first time in Australia,” Brendon Julian said on Fox Cricket.

The entire Tigers team erupt in celebration as Monimul Haque hit the winning runs, securing the side’s first Test win on Aussie soil.

“This will be spoken about for many years to come,” David Warner said.

NRL on the verge of signing historic $5 billion broadcast deal

The NRL is one the verge of securing a history making broadcast deal that will deliver a record $5 billion bonanza to the game, as the ARL Commission prepares to discuss – and potentially ratify – the new deal.

Renewals occur unless cancelled as per full Terms and Conditions. Each payment, once made, is non-refundable, subject to law. Not in conjunction with any other offer. New customers only. Nine, Foxtel win NRL rights in massive Australian sport media deal

Nine and Foxtel are on the cusp of a multibillion-dollar agreement to keep airing the NRL in what could be the most expensive rights deal for an Australian sporting code in history.

The pending deal, which is set to run until 2034, could make the sport more valuable than the AFL, a longstanding goal of the Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter V’landys.

Sources familiar with the matter said the seven-year $5 billion deal included $150 million annually from Nine for the free-to-air TV rights, and Foxtel paying $520 million annually for the pay TV component.

While the deal is yet to be signed and it is unclear how much of the headline figure will be made up of free advertising, the pact stands to amount to about $700 million a year, including the rights to broadcast the game in New Zealand.

The Historic Pelé Record Lionel Messi Could Break At The 2026 FIFA World Cup

Lionel Messi already secured his place among the greatest players in World Cup history after leading Argentina to glory at Qatar 2022, but the Argentine captain could still break another legendary record at football’s biggest tournament.

The superstar is preparing for what is expected to be his sixth and final FIFA World Cup, an achievement historic on its own, but one that also presents him with the opportunity to surpass one of the last major records still belonging to Pelé.

And surprisingly, the record is not about goals, but rather a statistic that highlights the incredible ability both legends possess to influence matches on the biggest stage: World Cup assists.

Lionel Messi chases World Cup scoring record: How far is Cristiano Ronaldo from the highest mark?

Lionel Messi is gearing up for what could be the final World Cup campaign of his legendary career, and with it comes a golden opportunity to shatter Miroslav Klose’s historic record as the tournament’s all-time leading goal scorer. As Messi edges closer to the monumental milestone, fans worldwide are left wondering exactly where his eternal rival, Cristiano Ronaldo, stands in comparison.

To this day, the standard belongs exclusively to former German striker Klose. The clinical frontman racked up a staggering 14-year legacy, netting 16 goals across four consecutive tournament editions (2002, 2006, 2010, and 2014).

Messi enters the tournament with the German icon firmly in his crosshairs. The Argentine captain has accumulated 13 World Cup goals across four editions (2006, 2014, 2018, and 2022). Remarkably, his tally stands where it is despite a surprising scoreless campaign in 2010, when Argentina was unceremoniously dumped out of the tournament by Germany in the quarterfinals.

LeBron, Bronny James combine for first son-to-father assist in NBA history

LeBron James and Bronny James continue to share more time on the court together as the Los Angeles Lakers’ regular season comes to a close.

The James family set another unique milestone for the league as Bronny was credited with an assist to LeBron on Thursday, April 9, during the Lakers' game against the Golden State Warriors.

Bronny stole the ball with 51 seconds left in the first quarter and bounced the ball toward LeBron, who then crossed halfcourt and finished the play in transition with an uncontested dunk. It's the first son-to-father assist in NBA history.

The father-and-son duo completed a similar milestone on March 27, recording the first father-to-son assist the league has seen.

Sussan Ley and David Littleproud on Sunday announced an 11th hour patch up of the federal Coalition that the Liberal leader hopes will hold off an early challenge from Angus Taylor.

But on Sunday night it was doubtful whether re-forming the Coalition would prevent Taylor, the opposition defence spokesman, moving this week, with some sources putting a challenge to Ley’s leadership at 50-50 probability.

Liberal leadership hopeful Angus Taylor has endorsed the Coalition reunion as his allies weigh a move against Opposition Leader Sussan Ley this week with a woman as Taylor’s running mate.

Ley and Nationals leader David Littleproud backed down on Sunday from previously hardline stances as they revived the Liberal-National alliance after a bitter 17-day split that exposed the pair’s antagonistic relationship and clashes over policy.

As first reported by this masthead on Saturday, Littleproud agreed to a six-week suspension for rebel Nationals who crossed the floor over hate crimes laws introduced last month following the Bondi terror attack. Ley watered down the suspension from six months.

Ethiopia receives 12 historic artefacts held in Germany for 100 years

Twelve historical artefacts have been formally returned to Ethiopia after being kept by a German family for more than 100 years.

The artefacts, originally collected in the 1920s by Germany's then-envoy to Ethiopia Franz Weiss and his wife Hedwig, were handed over on Wednesday to the Institute of Ethiopian Studies at Addis Ababa University.

The collection included crowns, shields and paintings, all considered culturally and historically significant in Ethiopia.

"The artefacts still stand as a symbol of the long-standing and friendly relationship between Germany and Ethiopia," said Ferdinand von Weyhe, Germany's envoy to Ethiopia.

Professor Ramon Wyss, whose father was born during the family's diplomatic posting in Ethiopia, handed over the items at a ceremony attended by Tourism Minister Selamawit Kassa.

Returned artefacts to strengthen Ethiopia’s heritage, research, and tourism – Minister

Addis Ababa, November 19, 2025 (FMC) — Ethiopia’s Tourism Minister Selamawit Kassa said Wednesday that the return of Ethiopian artefacts from abroad offers a unique opportunity to preserve the country’s cultural heritage, support academic research, and attract both domestic and international visitors.

Twelve Ethiopian artefacts from the 1920s were returned to the Institute of Ethiopian Studies during a formal handover at Ras Makonnen Hall, Addis Ababa University, Wednesday. The collection, received by Dr. Yohannes Adigeh, Director of the Institute, includes crowns, decorated shields, a sword, paintings, and gifts once presented by Regent Ras Tafari Mekonnen, later Emperor Haile Selassie.

The ceremony was attended by Minister Selamawit Kassa, German Embassy officials, members of the Society of Friends of the Institute of Ethiopian Studies (SOFIS), and other dignitaries.

Ethiopia Receives Twelve Historical Artifacts from Germany, Marking a New Milestone in the Heritage Preservation, Academic Research and Cultural Tourism

On November 19, 2025, Ethiopia celebrated the return of 12 historical artifacts from Germany after having been kept in German collections for decades. The artifacts were formally handed over to the Institute of Ethiopian Studies at Addis Ababa University in a ceremony that was attended by high-ranking Ethiopian and German officials. This marks one important step in ongoing efforts to reclaim Ethiopia’s cultural heritage and underscores the growing importance of international collaboration in heritage preservation.

The artifacts, which include shields, two ceremonial crowns, and paintings—some presented by Regent Tafari Makonnen—are highly important to the history of Ethiopia. The items had been donated by Professor Ramon Wyss and his niece, Alice Wise, descendants of Fritz Weiss, Germany’s envoy to Ethiopia in the 1920s, as part of a repatriation process initiated in 2016. Such returns are important for reinforcing Ethiopia’s cultural identity and historical narrative.
