Shreveport honors World Autism Day by lighting the Bakowski Bridge Blue
SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Families and friends gathered at Shreveport’s Riverfront Amphitheater to watch the Bakowski Bridge of lights turn blue in support of autism awareness.
Shreveport City Council Chairwoman, Tabatha H. Taylor and local personality The Big Cheese helped lead the event. She is an advocate for autism acceptance and says while autistic individuals often experience loneliness, they are far from alone.
“Sometimes autism can be a lonely journey for some, but we want you to know that you’re not by yourself. So, as we collaborate with the rest of the world, we show you right here in Shreveport that this bridge right here is illuminated just for you,” she stated.
