Norwood maintained its composure to record its first win of the Hostplus SANFL League season, overcoming South Adelaide by 22 points at The Parade.

The Redlegs built their triumph on the back of a game-breaking seven goal third quarter, after both sides managed just six majors between them in a tight opening half.

South earned a dominant inside 50 advantage of 16-4 in the first term but the hosts’ back six held firm all night, led by an intercept marking masterclass from Aaron Francis and Pierce Seymour.

Norwood will be searching for its first Premiership points of the 2026 SANFL Men’s season when it takes on South Adelaide at Coopers Stadium on Friday night.

Playing both grand final teams from last season, Norwood has gone down to Sturt by five points at The Parade in Round 1, and Glenelg by eight points at the Bay on Good Friday in close defeats to kick off the season.

The Redlegs will be without star ruckman Harry Boyd, who will miss the Round 3 clash with the Panthers due to a hand injury.

Sturt started its premiership defence by holding on for a gritty five-point win against Norwood in an enteratining opening to the 2026 Hostplus SANFL League season at The Parade.

In front of a healthy crowd of 4424 at Woods Street, the Double Blues survived a late scare from the fast-finishing Redlegs, who proved they will be genuine challenger for this year’s flag.

Leading by as much as 23 points in the 12th minute of the final term, Sturt was suddenly overwhelmed by Jade Sheedy’s men, who clawed their way back into the contest.

    Round 1 Team Selections | Season 2026

Finally, the 2026 SANFL Hostplus season is here, and we couldn’t be more excited for the action to begin on Brighton Road! This weekend, the senior teams travel to Richmond Oval and Alberton Oval, fighting it out for their first win of the season.

In a jam-packed day of footy, the Bays reserves will take on Westies at Richmond Oval in a clash that will showcase new faces, fresh strategies, and plenty of challenges, tackled head-on in a classic battle between the Tigers and the Bloods.

Our League boys will face Port Adelaide on Saturday evening in a twilight clash at Alberton Oval. The senior side will feature six debutants taking the field, including two pulling on the black and gold for the first time. Earlier this year, the Bays welcomed Joel Thiele from Sturt and Will Patton from West Adelaide to the club, and we’re pumped to see them take on this weekend’s challenge in our gold strip.
