Chuba Hubbard gets Panthers on the board, Carolina trails L.A. 14-7

Chuba Hubbard punched it in for a 1-yard touchdown to make the score 14-7, Rams, with 8:53 left in the second quarter.

The Panthers took just seven plays to go 65 yards, taking 3:23 off the clock on their first scoring drive of the day.

After throwing an interception on Carolina’s previous possession, Bryce Young connected on a 15-yard pass to Jalen Coker to push the Panthers into Rams territory. Then Young hit consecutive passes of 14 and 22 yards to Tetairoa McMillan to put the ball at Los Angeles’ 11-yard line.

Cobie Durant was flagged for defensive pass interference on third-and-2 from the L.A. 3 when he didn’t get his head turned around to play the ball on a pass in the end zone to Zavier Legette.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young lumbered his way to the podium earlier this week, taking short, slow steps. He showed no emotion, so you couldn't tell he was preparing for his first NFL playoff game any more than you could when he was benched last season.

Say what you want about Young's inconsistency in games, but he's consistent in everything he does before and after them.

Coach Dave Canales almost laughed on Thursday when asked if the top pick of the 2023 draft had done anything out of the ordinary preparing for Saturday's wild-card game against the Los Angeles Rams (12-5), the first playoff appearance for Carolina (8-9) since 2017 and the first at Bank of America Stadium since 2015.

I'm not sure if Sunderland will have anything left in the tank after their efforts against Manchester City on Thursday.

It was another example of why they have done so well – they defended brilliantly, but they were dangerous when they got the ball and they could have beaten City too.

Mind you, Tottenham are so drab at the moment that it probably won't matter too much if the Black Cats are low on energy.

Sunderland are always so well-organised at the back, while I don't think Spurs, in an attacking sense, have really clicked this season.

Tottenham will be exhausted as well so I don't see many goals in this one – in fact, I don't see any at all.

Fritz struggling with 'serious tendonitis' ahead of Australian Open

World number six Taylor Fritz says he is battling a knee issue ahead of the Australian Open, spending much of the off-season trying to fix the problem.

The American had a rock-solid 2025, winning in Eastbourne and Stuttgart and qualifying for the ATP Finals, despite dealing with tendonitis.

"I couldn't really (target) anything," he said on the ATP Tour website on what he worked on during the off-season.

"My goal was really just to try and rehab my knee. I still have pretty serious tendonitis and that's something that takes a really long time to get rid of."

Despite the inflammation lingering, the American said he does not feel it was serious enough yet to warrant a complete break from the tour.
