IFD: Witnesses say three boys started blaze that displaced 12 people
Witnesses told investigators that three boys are responsible for a fire that left at least a dozen people without a place to live on June 23, according to a social media post from the Indianapolis Fire Department.
Just before 12:25 p.m., IFD received a call for help from the Villages at Mill Crossing. By the time firefighters arrived minutes later, thick smoke and fire had spread throughout a row of townhomes in the 3500 block of Mountain Laurel Place.
"A well coordinated, aggressive attack and search ensued," a representative for IFD wrote. The City of Lawrence Fire Department sent two companies for assistance.

INDIANAPOLIS (WKRC) – Juveniles setting off fireworks are believed to be responsible for sparking a fire at an apartment complex in Indiana on Tuesday.
According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, three juveniles are believed responsible for a fire that destroyed 12 apartment units at the Villages at Mill Crossing on Indianapolis’ northeast side after allegedly using fireworks to ignite an unlocked storage unit, according to the Indianapolis Fire Department.
Fire investigators said witnesses reported seeing the boys set the fire shortly before crews were dispatched at 12:24 p.m. to the apartment complex at 3516 Mountain Laurel Place.
When firefighters arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames spreading throughout the building. Working smoke alarms alerted residents, allowing occupants to evacuate safely before crews arrived.
