Two people are in a serious condition in hospital after a building collapsed in inner Sydney.

Emergency services were called to a building on Wattle Street in Ultimo just before 11am on Monday after reports the back of a building behind a Shell service station had collapsed.

The building was part of a construction site, Fire and Rescue NSW has confirmed.

“A portion of that building has collapsed, and some of the debris has come down and fallen on some cars parked within the service station area,” Fire and Rescue NSW Acting Superintendent Peter Murray said.

Seven patients were assessed at the scene by paramedics, two of whom – one man in his 60s and another in his 30s – were taken to hospital in a serious condition, Ambulance NSW told nine.com.au.

Hegseth channels his inner Tarantino with fake Bible verse from Pulp Fiction

The defense secretary said his prayer drew on Ezekiel, but wording closely matches Quentin Tarantino dialogue

It was perhaps inevitable that a braggadocious Christian nationalist defense secretary elevated from his role as a weekend Fox News television host would pluck a fake Bible verse from a violent Hollywood blockbuster and present it at a Pentagon prayer session to rally the troops for the “holy war” in Iran.

Certainly among a glut of stories swirling around Pete Hegseth this week, including articles of impeachment brought against him by a group of ambitious Democratic lawmakers, the bizarre allegation that the Bible-thumping Hegseth was passing off a fire-and-brimstone script by Quentin Tarantino, an Oscar-winning writer, as the word of the Lord was far too compelling to ignore.

Naomi Osaka unleashes inner leopard with custom Nike "huntress" kit in victorious Indian Wells return

The 2018 champion made her first appearance since withdrawing at the Australian Open.

Naomi Osaka stepped out for her opening match with Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva on Friday evening at the BNP Paribas Open. Naturally, she came prepared with a new look for Indian Wells.

Taking Stadium 1, the 2018 champion rocked a leopard-inspired outfit. The head-to-toe ensemble included ear and mouth accessories, a rad pair of matching sneakers and a bag that incorporated the animal print into her custom logo.

But perhaps the most notable element of her latest kit was the intention behind the material on the dress.

“It’s a fabric that shifts when I move. So depending on the light, it will change colors,” she shared during an on-court interview.

Today, Naomi Osaka marks her grand return to Indian Wells—aka the BNP Paribas Open—in the California desert: The four-time Grand Slam winner, seeded 16th, is facing off against Andorra’s 97th-ranked Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva, marking Osaka’s first tournament since withdrawing from the Australian Open in January due to a persistent abdominal injury. “I’m feeling really inspired,” Osaka told Vogue days before the big match. “Indian Wells is one of those tournaments that has its own energy—the desert, the light, the crowd. It feels cinematic in a way. I’m excited to step back into that space and compete again.”

For years, Nick Chapman crossed a tract of land next to an old rail corridor when he walked his three children from their home in Haberfield to Kegworth Public School at Leichhardt, in Sydney’s inner west, in the 1990s.

Chapman, an environmental scientist, envisaged the weed-strewn strip beside the Hawthorne Canal as forming part of a “greenway” track slicing through Sydney’s dense inner suburbs. He was far from alone. Cyclists saw a crucial missing link in the city’s bike network, and environment groups imagined an urban biodiversity corridor.
