Surgeon threatened ex, broke into house before she and her husband were killed, officials say

Newly obtained court documents accuse the Illinois surgeon charged with killing his ex-wife and her new husband of making chilling threats against Monique Tepe and entering the couple’s Ohio home weeks before they were found dead there.

A person identified in a probable cause affidavit as a witness told Columbus police that Michael McKee, 39, told Tepe that he could “kill her at any time and would find her and buy the house right next to her," the document says.

Tepe told the witness about the alleged threat — along with another statement the affidavit attributes to McKee: “She will always be his wife.”

Weeks Before She Was Killed, Monique Tepe Left Night Out Because She Was 'Upset About Something Involving Her Ex-Husband'

Monique Tepe had to excuse herself during a night out with friends because of a situation involving Michael McKee three weeks before she was killed, according to an affidavit

McKee was allegedly captured on neighborhood surveillance breaking into the Tepes' property on that same day in Columbus, per the affidavit

Investigators do not say if Monique and Spencer were aware of the situation at that time

Monique Tepe was still dealing with the fallout from her first marriage eight years after her divorce.

Just three weeks before she and her dentist husband Spencer Tepe were found dead in their Columbus, Ohio, home, Monique had to excuse herself during a night out with friends because of a situation involving ex-husband Michael McKee, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by PEOPLE.

A chance encounter with Rod Laver, a trifecta of on-court marriage proposals and a straight-sets passage into the Australian Open quarterfinals gave Carlos Alcaraz plenty to report when recapping his day to his family back home on Saturday.

The Spaniard reached his third straight Melbourne Park quarterfinal following a 7-6(6) 6-4 7-5 victory over Tommy Paul to keep his bid for a career Slam on track and if a good omen was needed before the clash, a meeting with the legendary Laver beneath the arena bearing his name was it.

Carlos Alcaraz serves up lesson with Australian Open dismissal of Paul

Carlos Alcaraz spent the final 52 minutes of his fourth-round match chasing down his prey, determined to convert his two-set lead into a straightforward win against Tommy Paul.

As he worked hard to secure the decisive break in set three, the Spaniard put together a flawless serving performance. He won 86% of his first‑serve points in the set, landing 76% of his first serves. He did not even come close to facing a break point, losing just five service points in total. The world No 1 closed out his win against the 19th seed with an unreturned serve. He will play the Australian Alex de Minaur in the quarter-finals.

BREAKING: Patriots into Super Bowl as big gamble backfires, Aussie ‘MVP’ stars in defeat

But less than five years after the legendary quarterback announced he would be leaving Foxborough, the Patriots are back in the Super Bowl yet again. They have a long-term answer at quarterback too.

Drake Maye was far from his best, but came up with big plays when it mattered most – including a few key gains with his legs – to help the Patriots to a 10-7 win over the Denver Broncos in snowy conditions.

AFC championship: Patriots robbed of defensive TD off Jarrett Stidham turnover, then Drake Maye scores one anyway

An officiating mistake cost the New England Patriots a defensive touchdown against the Denver Broncos on Sunday.

But Drake Maye deemed the error moot by running for a touchdown two plays later to get the Patriots on the scoreboard and cap a pivotal sequence in the AFC championship game.

The sequence started late in the second quarter as the Broncos held a 7-0 lead. Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who was playing for injured starter Bo Nix, faced pressure on third-and-3 and carelessly released the ball near Denver's 14-yard line.

Patriots linebacker Elijah Ponder picked the ball up and ran into the end zone for what looked like a New England touchdown. But officials blew the whistle as Ponder picked up the ball, killing the play.

Gene Steratore flip-flops on controversial Jarrett Stidham fumble call

Late in the second quarter of Sunday’s AFC Championship Game between the New England Patriots and Denver Broncos, a forward-pass controversy left the CBS broadcast crew confused and unable to give a clear explanation to fans watching at home.

Facing a third down with 3:09 left in the second quarter, Broncos quarterback Jarrett Stidham found himself in trouble and attempted to throw the ball away under duress, leading to a sequence that left everyone watching, including the officials on the field and the broadcasters in CBS’s booth, completely flummoxed.

Jim Nantz, Tony Romo, and Gene Steratore stumble through that clusterf–k of a sequence on the field.

Coco Gauff eased into the third round of Australian Open 2026 on Wednesday with a straight-sets win over Olga Danilovic 6-2 6-2 at Margaret Court Arena, the American and Serbian facing each other for the first time.

Danilovic came back from a set down to beat Venus Williams in the first round but was no match for No.3 seed Gauff, whose powerful groundstrokes, control and agility visibly unnerved her opponent.

'Near perfect' Gauff joins Sabalenka in third round

Coco Gauff's best Australian Open performance was a semi-final appearance in 2024

A "near perfect" Coco Gauff and world number one Aryna Sabalenka both blasted their way into the Australian Open third round with efficient victories.

French Open champion Gauff needed just 77 minutes to sweep aside Serbia's Olga Danilovic 6-2 6-2.

Two-time winner Sabalenka spent even less time on court, overpowering China's Bai Zhuoxuan 6-3 6-1 in 72 minutes.

The top 10 women's seeds all remain in the tournament on day four in Melbourne, with Russian eighth seed Mirra Andreeva also registering a 67-minute 6-0 6 dismantling of Greece's Maria Sakkari.

Danilovic ended American legend Venus Williams' Australian Open singles campaign in the first round but was no match for two-time major singles champion Gauff on Margaret Court Arena.

Sri Lanka into the T20 tri-series final thanks to Chameera

Pakistan await Sri Lanka in the T20 Tri-Series final after the latter's final-over victory in Rawalpindi

Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera has snaffled 4-20 and stifled Pakistan in the final over as Sri Lanka breezed into the final of the T20 tri-series with a six-run victory.

Pakistan, who had already qualified for Saturday's final with three successive wins, were held to 7-178 on Thursday with captain Salman Ali Agha's career-best unbeaten 63 going in vain.

Opening batter Kamil Mishra's 76 off 48 balls had earlier anchored Sri Lanka to 5-184 in a game they had to win in order to reach the final instead of Zimbabwe.

    Sri Lanka 184 for 5 (Mishara 76, Mendis, 40, Abrar 2-28) beat Pakistan 178 for 7 (Salman 63, Usman 33, Chameera 4-20, Malinga 2-54) by six runs

Dushmantha Chameera held his nerve in a clutch final over to ensure Sri Lanka did not throw away a win they had spent the rest of the evening working for. He conceded three runs in the final over, building on a magnificent opening spell to deny Pakistan victory by six runs in a 184-run chase.

The stakes were higher for Sri Lanka than they were for Pakistan, with a victory required for a place in the final, or it would be Zimbabwe playing that game on Saturday. And Sri Lanka played with a hunger they have rediscovered since they finally won a game on Pakistan soil on Tuesday. Kusal Mendis and Kamil Mishara's 36-ball 66-run stand got them off to a flier, with Mishara ending up with 76 off 48 balls, and cameos lower down the order got them to 184.
