In the glistening waters of Tumon Bay, a traditional canoe catches the wind.

At its helm is boat builder Ron Acfalle, who has sailing in his blood.

"We came from the ocean," he says. "We didn't sprout from the ground."

Ron is an Indigenous Chamorro from Guam, a 50-kilometre-long island in the Western Pacific and an unincorporated territory of the United States.

He is reviving the lost art of canoe-building and sailing, practices once banned under colonial rule.

Guam likely to be destroyed in the case of military conflict according to US Report

A recent security assessment has found US military facilities on Guam, Yap and Saipan could be destroyed in a potential war between the US and China over Taiwan.

Chair of the Pacific Centre for Island Security, Robert Underwood says that Guam are left with little voice in these matters.

"In the process of conducting and militarising these areas, Guam and the northern Marianas are not consulted. In a sense, they're sort of handed memos. We're going to do this…you can't really stop it," Mr Underwood said.

As the US and Israel’s assault on Iran grinds on, the Trump administration has issued increasingly bellicose claims that American and Israeli forces are delivering ferocious blows to the Iranian regime.

The US secretary of defense, Pete Hegseth, warned of the “most intense” day of strikes yet on March 10. And Donald Trump followed with a claim that the war will end soon because there is “practically nothing left” in Iran for the US military to target.

Iran’s 'oil lifeline’ has been left untouched in the conflict. What happens if it's seized?

The prospect of a U.S. move to seize Kharg Island, a strategically vital hub often referred to as Iran's "oil lifeline," is considered extremely high risk, both from a geopolitical and economic standpoint.

The five-mile-long coral island, which is located about 15 miles off the coast of mainland Iran in the waters of the northern Persian Gulf, has been left untouched through nearly two weeks of U.S. and Israeli-led strikes against Iran.

The Trump administration has discussed seizing the island, according to an Axios report on March 7, citing four unnamed sources with knowledge of the discussions.

White House officials have previously said they expect oil prices to fall dramatically once Operation Epic Fury comes to an end, while White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt has said the president "wisely" keeps all options on the table.

Why Iran’s vital Kharg Island oil hub is still untouched by US-Israel bombers

While some argue for destroying the terminal through which 90% of Iran’s oil exports flow, others caution of a global market ‘tailspin’

Kharg Island – through which 90% of Iran’s oil exports flow – is arguably the country’s most sensitive economic target but the export terminal has so far remained untouched throughout the US-Israel bombing campaign.

Experts say bombing or capturing the site with US forces would be likely to cause a sustained increase to already surging oil prices, as it would amount to taking the entirety of Iran’s daily crude exports offline.

“We may see the $120 a barrel price we saw on Monday heading to the $150 if Kharg were attacked,” said Neil Quilliam, with the Chatham House thinktank. “It’s too vital for global energy markets”.

Iran's strategic oil island thrust into the spotlight as Middle East conflict escalates

Iran's Kharg Island, a small but strategically vital strip of land nestled in the waters of the northern Persian Gulf, has been left untouched by U.S. and Israeli forces even as the Middle East conflict enters its second week.

The coral island, which is located about 15 miles off the coast of mainland Iran, serves as the centerpiece for Iran's oil industry.

It is estimated that around 90% of the country's crude exports pass through it before tankers then travel through the Strait of Hormuz. The island is also said to have a loading capacity of roughly 7 million barrels per day.

Who are Island Boys' mom and dad? Alleged baby pics with Jeffrey Epstein raises questions; ‘all makes sense’ | Hindustan Times

The Island Boys are a TikTok duo which has twin brothers Franky and Alex Venegas who went viral as 'Kodiyakredd' and ‘Flyysoulja’. They are known for rocking tattoos, distinct hairstyles, and diamond teeth. In the past the Island Boys have beefed with the likes of Jake and Logan Paul but this time they have gone viral over alleged photos with Jeffrey Epstein.

This comes amid the Justice Department releasing the final tranche of documents linked to the late convicted child sex offender.

The photos were widely shared on X with the caption “It all makes sense now.”

Another person remarked, "Now we know why they are called the “Island Boys”. Two of these posts cumulatively garnered over seven million views at the time of writing. These images are fakes.

February 05: Epstein-Island Boys AI Hoax Puts Brand Safety in Focus

The Island Boys Epstein photo went viral, but fact-checkers confirmed it was an AI-generated image made in Midjourney. The hoax resurfaced as roughly 3 million pages of Epstein files drew intense attention online. For US investors, the episode highlights brand-safety risks, regulatory pressure on social platforms, and accountability for AI tools. We explain what happened, how misinformation spreads during document dumps, and what signals to monitor in earnings, guidance, and product updates. The focus is practical: protect capital when social media misinformation can move sentiment fast.

A widely shared Island Boys Epstein photo claimed to show the duo with Jeffrey Epstein. A fact check found it was an AI-generated image created in Midjourney and not an authentic photograph. Verification work flagged visual artifacts and a lack of provenance. Coverage traced the claim’s spread across multiple platforms. See the detailed debunk here: source.

Fact Check: No, this image doesn't show Epstein with Island Boys hip-hop duo

An image authentically shows convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein posing with twin brothers who would later form the Island Boys hip-hop duo.

On Feb. 2, 2026, an X user posted (archived) an image purportedly showing convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein posing for a years-old photo with the Island Boys hip-hop duo. The image allegedly showed Epstein with his arms around two boys internet users said were Alex Venegas, known as "Flyysoulja," and his twin brother Franky Venegas, who goes by "Kodiyakredd." Facebook users posted the image, as well.

The user's post, which circulated following a fresh release of Epstein case files, read, "It all makes sense now." The post displayed a single image comprised of four total images, including the Epstein image and several photos of the Venegas brothers.
