    SailGP: Practice racing canned, but big breeze for weekend's racing

    The Practice Racing scheduled for Friday at ITM NZ SailGP, was cancelled after a forecast of lightning – which didn't eventuate.

    In its place came a 15kt plus easterly (onshore) breeze, which was not sufficent to keep the clouds flying, and Auckland was clothed in a grey murk which reduced visibility to a few hundred metres, if that. Not the ideal conditions for 13 SailGP teams to be trying to limber up in the congested, landlocked venue.

    However three teams were allowed to go through "commissioning", leaving at varying stages of the day – essentially doing their own thing.

    The Kiwis to test their new port stern section setup, which was completed on Wednesday, following their collison with the Swiss after just 90seconds of racing in the first event of Season 6 in Fremantle. The Swiss were repaired overnight in Freo, sailed the next day, and so weren't entitled to commissioning time today.

    Speaking after her 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Queenslander Olivia Gadecki in the second round of the Brisbane International, top 10 sensation Mirra Andreeva revealed the recipe for success, that has made her the hottest prospect on the international stage.

    Andreeva Learning to Deal with Prodigy Pressure

    When Mirra Andreeva raked in Dubai and Indian Wells titles in the span of the month, at the age of 18, expectations and hype soared around the rising Russian. To be fair, it had been growing for a while. In 2023 Andreeva demonstrated her enormous potential by winning her debut main draw matches at Roland-Garros, Wimbledon and the US Open. A year later, she had become a major semifinalist in Paris, where she became the youngest player to reach the last four at a Grand Slam since Martina Hingis.

    You’d think she would have entered 2025 virtually immune to the hype, but Andreeva, now ranked No.9 in the world, says that she was hit by another wave last season, and she admitted that it did slow her roll.

    A sluggish start has been tipped for the warmer months after some of the heaviest spring rainfall in more than a decade.

With an estimated 310 million active users in 2025, Amazon has always been a prime quarry for scammers, hackers and other highly-targeted cybercrime activity.     Amazon is informing millions of its active users about impersonation scams involving someone illegally obtaining their personal information. 

    In a Nov. 24 email from Amazon obtained by Forbes, the company noted that in these impersonation scams, thieves are targeting Amazon users by reaching out to try and get "access to sensitive information like personal or financial information, or Amazon account details."

    Amazon warns customers of holidays cyberattacks as FBI sees $300M in thefts: ‘Account takeover fraud’

    Amazon is warning its over 300 million customers to watch out for cybercriminals who are out in force this holiday season impersonating reps from the e-commerce giant — as the FBI said online crooks have stolen nearly $300 million by taking over victims’ accounts so far this year.

    The largest online retailer in the world recently emailed customers about criminals trying to “get access to sensitive information like personal or financial information or Amazon account details,” according to Forbes. 

    The warning came as the FBI said since January, it’s received 5,100 complaints about “account takeover fraud” — in which criminals gain illicit access to accounts in order to rip them off — inflicting losses of over $262 million.
