Kings Announce Russell Westbrook News Before Mavericks Game

Sacramento Kings guard Russell Westbrook has been a solid veteran presence in his first year with the organization. Unfortunately for the Kings, it has not translated into much success, as the team owns a 13‑47 record and sits at the bottom of the Western Conference.

The franchise appears headed toward a full rebuild, leaving Westbrook with little meaningful team success to play for. Even so, he has unquestionably outperformed his $3.6 million veteran‑minimum salary.

The 37‑year‑old is averaging 15.3 points, 5.5 rebounds and 6.3 assists while shooting 43.1% from the field and 33.8% from beyond the arc across 56 games. He has remained effective late into his career because his pace, physicality and ability to pressure the rim still create advantages that few guards can consistently generate on the offensive end.

3 storylines to follow as the Dallas Mavericks host the Sacramento Kings

Still down Cooper Flagg, Dallas tries to put together a win-streak against an injured Sacramento Kings

Don’t worry – we’ll all get through this one together.

After a tight game in Indiana and a dicey last-minute flight to Brooklyn, the Dallas Mavericks head back home to host the Sacramento Kings on Thursday night. Your feelings about this matchup depends entirely on your current operating theory of the Mavericks: if you’re team tank, this is a nail-biter, one of several dice-rolls that will have a material impact on Dallas’ lottery odds in the coming offseason. If you’re team let’s-get-out-there-and-try-our-best, this is likely a breezy contest, as few teams in the Association have the moxie to truly out-bad this Kings squad.

HOUSTON — — Reed Sheppard made a career-high seven 3-pointers and scored 28 points, Alperen Sengun had 26 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists, and the Houston Rockets beat the Sacramento Kings 128-97 on Wednesday night.

Kevin Durant added 21 points for the Rockets in their most-lopsided victory of the season. Houston has won two in row since blowing an 18-point lead in the fourth quarter at New York on Saturday.

Russell Westbrook scored 22 points for Sacramento, but 17 came in the first quarter. DeMar DeRozan added 15 on a night he moved ahead of Paul Pierce into 20th place on the NBA's career scoring list.

The Kings were coming off a victory over Memphis that snapped their franchise-record 16-game losing streak.

Rockets' Alperen Sengun: Delivers triple-double vs Kings

Sengun generated 26 points (9-13 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 7-8 FT), 13 rebounds, 11 assists, two steals and three blocks across 32 minutes of Wednesday's 128-97 win over Sacramento.

Sengun stuffed the stat sheet Wednesday night, notching his third triple-double of the season while also racking up five combined steals-plus-blocks. Although scoring efficiency hasn't been an issue for Sengun recently, he has been quiet as a scorer. Sengun averaged 15.0 points in the eight games leading up to Wednesday. He's averaging 20.5 points per game this season.

Kings superstar’s MVP reminder in stellar first half in 40-point Bullets rout: NBL Wrap

Sydney Kings star Kendric Davis gave MVP voters one last exhilarating performance to think about as the classy guard powered his side to a thrashing 40-point win over the Brisbane Bullets on Friday night.

Davis had an unstoppable 27 points to half time before finishing with 31 points, shooting 13/15 and having eight assists as the 26-year-old sat out the fourth quarter with the game wrapped up.

But the 117-77 victory didn’t come with ease as the bottom-placed Bullets lifted to a nine-point advantage early in their final outing of the season, held on their home court at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre.

Sydney have locked away the NBL's regular season championship and Kendric Davis did his MVP chances no harm with a 27-point first-half outburst in their 117-77 win over last-placed Brisbane.

Davis delivered 31 points for the game as he led the Kings to the eventual 40-point win to complete a 24-9 season in top spot, outscoring the Bullets 91 to 44 after quarter-time.

"It was unacceptable": Rillie pulls no punches

No matter the short turnaround or the absence of two key players, John Rillie refused to lean on excuses after Perth’s loss to Sydney. In his eyes, the Kings simply wanted it more.

There was also the absence of Ben Henshall with an ankle issue and Dylan Windler battling a heel injury, while David Duke Jr was just in his second game back from an elbow setback. Still, Rillie refused to hide behind personnel challenges after his side led 29 to 28 at quarter-time before fading.

"Absolutely not (make excuses) because everyone's always looking for opportunity and when your opportunity comes now it's a great test," Rillie said.

The Sacramento Kings (12-41) will look to turn around an 11-game losing skid when hosting the Cleveland Cavaliers (31-21) on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at Golden 1 Center. This contest is at 10 p.m. ET on FDSOH and NBCS-CA.

The Cavaliers are a double-digit favorite against the Kings when the Cavaliers and the Kings square off. The Cavaliers are favored by 14.5 points. The game's over/under is set at 234.5.

Kings' Zach LaVine: Ruled out Saturday

LaVine (finger) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Cavaliers.

LaVine is dealing with right finger soreness and won't suit up in the second half of this back-to-back set. The veteran swingman's absence should open up more minutes for Nique Clifford, Malik Monk and Devin Carter. LaVine's next chance to play will come on the road against the Pelicans on Monday.

Clippers vs Kings Prediction, Picks & Best Bets for Tonight’s NBA Game

Both the Los Angeles Clippers and Sacramento Kings remade their rosters at the trade deadline, and now the division rivals will face off tonight.

The Clippers flipped James Harden into Darius Garland. While the Kings brought in Garland’s former teammate, De’Andre Hunter. But my Clippers vs. Kings predictions are based on the old guard having a big impact in this game.

Those and more NBA picks for this Pacific Division clash set to tip off at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento at 10 p.m. ET on Friday, February 6.

There are plenty of new faces in new places in this matchup, but I’m betting on an old face who has found the fountain of youth recently.

Clippers Injury Report vs. Kings: Will Darius Garland & Ben Mathurin Play?

The Los Angeles Clippers did a hard pivot at the trade deadline, much to everyone's surprise. If you had told any Clippers fan a week ago that the team would no longer have James Harden and Ivica Zubac after the trade deadline, very few would have believed you. But this is the reality of the NBA. Things move fast, and teams have to adjust on the fly.

Another reality of the NBA is that games come at you fast. Even before Clippers fans can wrap their heads around the blockbuster trades, the team is already taking the court. At 10 pm EST, the Clippers take on the Kings in Sacramento in their first post-deadline game. Unfortunately, however, fans have to wait a little longer before they can see their new men in action.

Perhaps even more disappointing than the fact the Kings basically stood pat at the trade deadline is the fact that there’s still 30 games left of this disaster of a season.  Tonight the Kings face the L.A. Clippers who made some big moves of their own, but will likely be a bit shorthanded as their new additions won’t be available just yet.  Tonight’s game is on Prime Video, so at least for one night, the entire country has to share in our misery.

The Kings are back in action following Scott Perry’s biggest move since he rejoined the organization. Of course, I’m referencing the trade that landed the Kings De’Andre Hunter for Dennis Schroder, Keon Ellis, and a 2nd round pick (routed to Chicago so they would eat Dario Saric’s contract). We went deep on this trade in the latest episode of The Kings Herald Show, so if you want to hear Jerry Reynolds discuss the move, give that a listen.

Grizzlies vs Kings Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

The short-handed Memphis Grizzlies visit Golden 1 Center for a Western Conference matchup with the Sacramento Kings tonight.

Cam Spencer has provided a spark off the Memphis bench, and my Grizzlies vs. Kings predictions expect plenty of assists from the former UConn Huskies star.

Cam Spencer is handling primary facilitator duties for the Memphis Grizzlies and doesn’t need a ceiling game to reach six assists.

He’s averaging six helpers over his last five games, and after yesterday’s major trade, Memphis is thin on bodies for tonight’s matchup with the Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento’s defense has allowed 119 points per game during its nine-game losing streak, creating terrific assist-friendly conditions for Spencer.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are trading De'Andre Hunter to the Sacramento Kings for Dennis Schroder and Keon Ellis, sources told ESPN.

The three-team deal includes the Chicago Bulls acquiring Kings forward Dario Saric and two future second-round picks, sources said.

The Cavaliers turn Hunter's salary slot into depth at point guard with Schroder and a top defender on the market with Ellis. The Cavaliers also save about $50 million in salary and luxury tax bills this season because of the transaction and drop their tax bill from $164 million to $120 million, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Cavaliers reportedly acquire Keon Ellis, Dennis Schroder from Kings in exchange for De'Andre Hunter

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired guards Keon Ellis and Dennis Schröder from the Sacramento Kings in exchange for De'Andre Hunter, ESPN's Shams Charania reports.

Hunter, 28, was dealt to the Cavaliers before last season's NBA trade deadline from the Atlanta Hawks for a package that included Caris LeVert, Georges Niang, three second-round picks and two swaps. However, he fell out of head coach Kenny Atkinson's rotation in recent weeks.

Cavs and Lakers discussing De’Andre Hunter trade framework with third team involvement

CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cavs appear to be moving closer to a significant trade, with De’Andre Hunter potentially headed to the Los Angeles Lakers in a deal that would address both basketball fit and financial flexibility for the wine and gold.

On the latest Wine and Gold Talk podcast, cleveland.com beat reporter Chris Fedor dropped a bombshell regarding discussions between the two teams: “My sources tell me that the Cavs and the Lakers have discussed a general framework surrounding De’Andre Hunter for Rui Hachimura and Dalton Knecht and then bringing in a third team.”

This potential trade represents much more than a simple player swap. For Cleveland, it addresses multiple needs simultaneously – most importantly, providing crucial financial breathing room for a team currently squeezed by the NBA’s punitive second apron tax penalties.

Kings' Domantas Sabonis returns after 27-game absence

You have reached ESPN's Australian edition. Stay on current site or go to US version.

SACRAMENTO — Sacramento Kings All-Star forward Domantas Sabonis returned on Friday night against the Washington Wizards after a 27-game absence because of a partially torn meniscus in his left knee.

Sabonis came off the bench, entering with 5:11 left in the first quarter. He averaged 17.2 points and 12.3 rebounds in his first 11 games this season.

Sabonis was officially listed as questionable. His return capped a two-month recovery process, as Sabonis opted against surgery and carefully rehabbed his knee.

Sabonis is in his fifth season with the Kings and remains a name to watch as the Feb. 5 trade deadline nears. He has three years and $136.3 million left on his contract, and the rebuilding Kings, under new general manager Scott Perry, have been open to discussing trades for all their veterans with high-priced deals, league sources said.

NBA Kings' Domantas Sabonis set to return from injury Friday – Yahoo Sports Australia

Sacramento Kings forward Domantas Sabonis is set to return from injury on Friday night against the Washington Wizards, according to ESPN's Anthony Slater. Sabonis has been sidelined with a partial meniscus tear for the last 27 games.

Sabonis last played on Nov. 16, and in his 11 games this season, he's averaged 17.2 points, 12.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists. The three-time All-Star ultimately opted against surgery and rehabbed carefully, per Slater.

Trade speculation has surrounded Sabonis and the Kings in general, and that will only ratchet up as the deadline looms less than three weeks away. Sabonis signed a four-year, $186 million contract before the 2024-25 season, and has three years and $136.3 million remaining.

Kings' Domantas Sabonis expected to return as trade rumors heat up

The Sacramento Kings could see the return of their All-Star power forward Jan. 16 in their Friday night game against the Washington Wizards.

Kings forward Domantas Sabonis is officially listed as questionable on the NBA's Injury Report, but the team expects that he will suit up and play against the Wizards, according to ESPN.

Sabonis, a three-time All-Star, has missed the previous 27 games for the Kings with a partially torn meniscus.

He only appeared in 11 games so far this season, averaging 17.2 points and 12.3 rebounds.

In recent days, Sabonis was seen participating in shootaround during practices. Signs indicate he'll rejoin the court with the Kings soon. And at a good time, too.

MMBets Game of the Week: PAC-12 After Dark, but Make it the NBA

Tonight, your Dallas Mavericks are on National TV to face off against the Sacramento Kings in Wine Country. It’s a battle between two flailing teams, as the Mavs (13-23) have lost four out of five. Meanwhile, the Kings (8-28) haven’t won since beating the Mavericks last year. With an outrageous start time and two bad basketball teams, there is no chance this game will be normal. Thus, it’s the perfect time to refire our MMBets Game of the Week series. Before we get to this week’s picks, let’s review the results from last time.

David has once again done all of the work for the group project. Meanwhile, Tyler has lost 19 of his last 23 wagers in this article. That hit rate of just 17.4% is horrific. However, it is still almost as good as Brandon Williams’ three-point percentage this season (18.8%), so maybe we can draw inspiration from that one.

Mavericks vs. Kings NBA Picks for Tuesday, January 6: Target Flagg and the Brow?

Two teams currently outside of the Western Conference playoff picture throw down Tuesday night, as the 13-23 Mavericks visit Sacramento to take on the 8-28 Kings. The game tips at 11:00 p.m. ET on Peacock.

Below, we'll preview the game and break down three of the top Mavericks vs. Kings NBA Picks on PrizePicks for today, including for Mavericks F/C Anthony Davis and Mavericks F Cooper Flagg.

The Kings have already ruled out F Keegan Murray (ankle), his third missed game over the last seven matchups. After appearing in at least 76 games in each of his first three seasons in the NBA, Murray has played just 19 in 2025-26.
