Sam Darcy has left the field after collapsing on a lead, and is taken straight to the rooms

THE WESTERN Bulldogs are nervously waiting on further assessment of Sam Darcy's left knee after the star forward limped off the field early in the clash with Geelong.

Darcy attempted to change direction in the forward pocket during the second quarter at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night, and immediately fell to the ground holding the knee.

The 22-year-old lay on the turf for a few moments and was helped to his feet by trainers before walking off the ground under his own steam.

Western Bulldogs star Sam Darcy has suffered a knee injury at GMHBA Stadium against the Cats in a devastating blow to the club’s premiership hopes.

The giant forward fell to the ground clutching his left knee as he led out towards the ball during the second quarter. He didn’t make contact with anyone else in the process.

Bulldogs football manager Matthew Egan told Fox Footy at half-time that they would wait for scans on Saturday before declaring the extent of the injury.

“The mechanism didn’t look great, but we just can’t confirm everything,” Egan said.

Why Warriors should be extra careful bringing Steph Curry back from knee injury

With the Warriors three months into a 2025-26 NBA season now certain to land far short of their expectations, there should be zero doubt about how to proceed with Stephen Curry’s tender right knee.

With our All Access Daily newsletter, stay in the game with the latest updates on your beloved Bay Area and California sports teams!

“I think there's a good chance that he doesn't play ‘til after the break,” coach Steve Kerr told reporters Saturday before the Warriors and Lakers tipped off in Los Angeles.

That’s prudent. Curry has hobbled through various levels of discomfort since banging his right knee in November. He took another blow on Jan. 30 that so aggravated it he was forced from the game. He was diagnosed with “runner’s knee,” which generally requires at least three weeks to subside.

Fritz struggling with 'serious tendonitis' ahead of Australian Open

World number six Taylor Fritz says he is battling a knee issue ahead of the Australian Open, spending much of the off-season trying to fix the problem.

The American had a rock-solid 2025, winning in Eastbourne and Stuttgart and qualifying for the ATP Finals, despite dealing with tendonitis.

"I couldn't really (target) anything," he said on the ATP Tour website on what he worked on during the off-season.

"My goal was really just to try and rehab my knee. I still have pretty serious tendonitis and that's something that takes a really long time to get rid of."

Despite the inflammation lingering, the American said he does not feel it was serious enough yet to warrant a complete break from the tour.

ATLANTA — Falcons quarterback Michael Penix Jr. injured his right knee and was removed in the third quarter of Sunday's game against the Carolina Panthers.

Penix was hit on a third-down pass, which fell incomplete with 5:22 left in the quarter. He attempted to get back up but fell to the grass again and took off his helmet.

Penix was replaced by veteran Kirk Cousins in the subsequent Falcons offensive series. The second-year quarterback was 13-of-16 passing for 175 yards before leaving.

He suffered a bone bruise in his left knee against the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7 and missed Atlanta's next game against the Miami Dolphins. Cousins started in that game, a 34-10 loss.
