AMD's Ryzen 9950X3D2 Launch Impact: What's Ahead in Gaming Next?

Advanced Micro Devices AMD yesterday unveiled the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 Dual Edition, a flagship desktop processor that represents a meaningful leap in its high-performance computing strategy. The launch is not just a routine product refresh, but it extends AMD’s leadership in cache innovation. It targets some of the most demanding computing workloads across development, content creation and gaming. At the core of this launch is a technological first: dual AMD 3D V-Cache across both chiplets. Earlier X3D processors placed stacked cache on only one chiplet, but this new design expands it to all 16 cores, delivering a massive 208MB of total cache. This launch is less about driving massive unit sales and more about enhancing AMD’s profitability and technological edge. By doubling down on cache innovation and targeting high-value workloads, AMD is positioning itself to capture premium revenue streams, expand into developer and AI-driven markets and reinforce its competitive moat in high-performance CPUs. In financial terms, the Ryzen 9 9950X3D2 is likely to contribute modestly to total revenue growth, but meaningfully to margins and brand strength, which are equally critical for long-term shareholder value. AMD is strengthening its gaming portfolio with the Ryzen 7 9850X3D, advanced Zen 5 architecture and AI-powered FidelityFX Super Resolution “Redstone.” Support from Valve and a future Xbox launch position AMD for strong gaming growth through 2027.Gaming revenues jumped 50% year over year to $843 million in the fourth quarter, driven by higher semi-custom sales and strong demand for AMD’s latest Radeon RX 9000 series GPUs. Revenues on a sequential basis plunged 35%. AMD now expects semi-custom SoC annual revenues to decline by a significant double-digit percentage in 2026, thereby hurting gaming revenues. AMD expects first-quarter 2026 revenues to decline 5% sequentially due to seasonal softness in Client, Gaming and Embedded segments. Revenues are expected to rise approximately 32% year over year, driven by Data Center and Client & Gaming, with modest Embedded growth. The Zacks Consensus Estimate for first-quarter 2026 revenues is pegged at $9.84 billion, suggesting 32.3% growth from the figure reported in the year-ago quarter.

The Bulls announced Donovan's decision Tuesday, saying they wanted the longtime coach to remain in Chicago but adding that they respected his choice.

Giddey’s Bulls coach gone after six-year reign as Chicago NBA clean-out continues

Billy Donovan stepped down as coach of the Chicago Bulls on Tuesday after the team missed the NBA playoffs for the fifth time in his six seasons in charge.

Donovan, who guided Florida to US college crowns in 2006 and 2007, went 226-256 with the Bulls after arriving in 2020, but had his worst season in Chicago in this past campaign, going 31-51.

“After a series of thoughtful and extensive discussions with ownership regarding the future of the organisation, I have decided to step away as the head coach of the Chicago Bulls, to allow the search process to unfold,” Donovan said in a statement released by the club.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 launch date leaks

Samsung's next bundle of foldable devices may have just gotten a launch date.

A new report by the Korea Economic Times (via 9to5google) claims that Samsung will hold its next Galaxy Unpacked event in London on July 22.

Galaxy Unpacked is Samsung's regular series of product announcement livestreams, usually devoted to flagship mobile devices. There's usually a Galaxy Unpacked event early in the year and another in the summer; the early one happened in February, and now it seems the later one will happen near the end of July, if this report is correct.

As for which devices will make their debut in July, expect a lot of foldables.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide Is Shorter, Wider, and Exactly What We Wanted

Samsung’s rumored Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide is poised to make a significant impact on the foldable smartphone market. By addressing persistent design challenges and emphasizing practicality and usability, this device could set a new standard for foldable technology. With a potential 4:3 aspect ratio and seamless display transitions, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide may shift the focus from experimental designs to a more user-centric approach, offering a refined experience for both tech enthusiasts and everyday users.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Wide’s rumored 4:3 aspect ratio stands out as a key feature. This wider, more rectangular design is expected to deliver a screen experience closer to that of a tablet, such as the iPad, making it ideal for multitasking and media consumption. Unlike the narrower displays of earlier foldable models, this aspect ratio could make activities like reading, typing and streaming more intuitive and comfortable. For users, this design promises fewer compromises in daily tasks, whether you’re drafting emails, editing documents, or enjoying your favorite shows.

NASA’s Artemis II Launch Mission Countdown Begins

The countdown for NASA’s Artemis II test flight is underway at the agency’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida, with members of the launch team arriving at their consoles inside the Rocco Petrone Launch Control Center. The onsite countdown clock started ticking down at 4:44 p.m. EDT to a targeted launch time of 6:24 p.m. on Wednesday, April 1. Artemis II is the first crewed launch of NASA’s SLS (Space Launch System) rocket and Orion spacecraft.

With countdown officially underway, engineers are powering up flight hardware, checking communication links, and preparing the rocket’s cryogenic systems for the precise fueling sequence required to load hundreds of thousands of gallons of super-cooled liquid hydrogen and liquid oxygen. At Launch Pad 39B, teams will begin filling the sound suppression system’s massive tank with water, which will unleash a protective deluge at liftoff to shield the vehicle from the roar of its own engines.

March 1, 2026 — Day two of the launch of a US-Israeli military operation against Iran

Hezbollah and Israel also trade strikes after the group said it launched missiles “in revenge” for killing of Iran’s leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

    • War with Iran: Explosions have been heard in cities including Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Doha, after Iran’s top official said Tehran “will not negotiate” with the US. President Donald Trump earlier warned of more US casualties after three Americans were killed.

    • Hezbollah joins conflict: Israel has vowed more strikes on Lebanon as the country and Hezbollah are trading blows. The group had said it attacked an Israeli base over the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

War widens as Israel and US pound Iran and Tehran and its allies hit back

The intensity of the attacks, the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and the lack of any apparent exit plan indicated the conflict would not end anytime soon. It was already having far-reaching consequences: Safe havens in the Mideast like Dubai have seen incoming fire; hundreds of thousands of airline passengers are stranded around the globe; oil prices shot up; and U.S. allies pledged to help stop Iranian missiles and drones.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth wouldn’t rule out U.S. troops on the ground in Iran, but declared the United States would not be dragged into an “endless” war. Hegseth held the Trump administration’s first news briefing Monday since Saturday’s strikes.
