A Diabolical Law & Order: SVU Villain Returns In Harrowing Rollins And Carisi Episode — Read Recap

The 'Rollisi' evening that "Law & Order: SVU" stars Kelli Giddish and Peter Scanavino recently teased to TVLine unfolds at the very start of this week's episode. And, as the actors warned, it starts sweet but goes sideways — fast.

This week's "SVU" also marks the return of Henry Mesner, the young psychopath (played by Ethan Cutkosky) who's been messing with Rollins and/or Carisi since Season 14. And if you think there's a coincidence that he happens to show up in the 'Rollisi' torture episode, I'm willing to bet you haven't been watching this show very long.

Rollins rushes down the stairs into the dining room of an upscale restaurant. Carisi, who's waiting for her at a table, rises as she hurries in. She apologizes for being late — she lost track of time at work — but he just smiles at her. "Sounds to me like you're finally back in a job that makes you happy," he says, and she agrees that she is… and that the position feels "permanent." Carisi is sport coat-free and the kids are at his mother's house in Staten Island, so it's time to celebrate! "Happy second anniversary," he says, clinking his wine glass to hers.

Calls for cricket law change after $420,000 star forced to 'retire' under rarely-seen rule in BBL

Former Australia batsman Brad Hodge has suggested a name change to cricket's retirement law to lessen the stigma attached to slow batters being forced off the field in T20s. Fans have been debating whether it should be legal to forcibly 'retire out' a batter after it happened to Mohammad Rizwan of the Melbourne Renegades on Monday night.

Rizwan had reached 26 off 23 balls in the Renegades' batting innings against the Sydney Thunder in the BBL, but the coaching staff felt he wasn't scoring quickly enough. Captain Will Sutherland signalled from the bench for Rizwan to leave the field, with Sutherland walking on to replace him in the hope of scoring more freely.

Disaster strikes Will Sutherland after retiring Mohammad Rizwan in BBL loss to Thunder

The Melbourne Renegades’ finals hopes are hanging by a thread after a dramatic loss to Big Bash battlers Sydney Thunder at Engie Stadium on Monday night.

A late Chris Green assault powered the Thunder to a thrilling four-wicket upset win, the No.8 coming in at 6-95 after his side lost 3-15 in eight balls in pursuit of a rain-adjusted target of 140.

With all the pressure on his shoulders, Green bludgeoned three sixes in as many balls from Gurinder Sandhu (4-42), the Renegades’ best bowler to that point.

It swung the game dramatically back in favour of the Thunder, who would have been consigned to the wooden spoon with a loss to the Renegades.

Green, Maddinson power Thunder to victory after Renegades retire Rizwan out

Sydney Thunder 140 for 6 (Green 34*, Billings 33, Maddinson 30*, Sandhu 4-42) beat Melbourne Renegades 170 for 8 (Hassan 46, Brown 35, Agar 2-23) by four wickets (DLS)

Mohammad Rizwan's tough BBL debut season continued after being retired out in his 300th T20 match, having batted sluggishly in Melbourne Renegades' costly loss to Sydney Thunder.

The tactical gamble – a decision made by the coaching staff – did not really have the desired effect. Renegades only made a further 16 runs after Rizwan – who had hit 26 off 23 balls – walked off the field at the end of the 18th over.

Averaging 20.14 and striking at exactly 100 in his seven previous innings this season, Rizwan again struggled for fluency on a seaming Engie Stadium surface. He is only the third batter in BBL history to be retired out without an injury, following on the heels of Nic Maddinson in Thunder's recent match against Hobart Hurricanes in a tactic that is starting to become more prevalent in T20 cricket.

A rural jobs law without a guarantee

Mandeshri Devi, 60, from Mahanth Maniyari village in Muzaffarpur district, and her two daughters-in-law, work as daily-wage labourers. Her two sons earn a living as masons. The family depends on the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) for work, a large-scale rural employment programme that guarantees up to 100 days of wage work per household.

“We barely get 30 to 40 days of work in a year, even though we are entitled to 100 days,” she says. “Still, the ₹20,000–25,000 we earn through MGNREGA is a big relief for our family.”

Now, Mandeshri Devi is protesting in Muzaffarpur, Bihar, along with hundreds of other workers. They say work has stopped since the centre introduced the Viksit Bharat — Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB–G RAM G) Bill, which replaces MGNREGA. Another protester, Rinku Devi, says she has not been paid wages for work she completed three months ago. “Now, there is no work either,” she adds.

Karnataka Cabinet to challenge VB-G RAM G in court, announces minister Patil, says 'won't accept Act'

The Karnataka Cabinet has decided to not accept the Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) Act, 2025 and challenge it in the court of law, Karnataka Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister HK Patil announced on Thursday, 8 January. The Cabinet also decided to go to the “people's court” against the “repealing” of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).

“It is unanimously decided not to accept the (VB-G RAM G) Act and to challenge the same in the court of law. The Act tramples upon the legitimate rights of Panchayats as vested by the Constitution and is against the spirit of the 73rd and 74th amendments to the Constitution. The bottom-up planning approach, as per local requirements, has been compromised,” HK Patil said.

AAP govt misleading people on G Ram G Act: BJP’s Jakhar

As part of a public awareness campaign launched by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission – Gramin (VB-G RAM G) Act, a public interaction programme was organised on Friday at Pona village in Jagraon. Addressing the gathering, BJP state president Sunil Jakhar said the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was misleading the people and diverting their attention while the Congress was merely trying to save itself. He asserted that it was only the BJP that was talking about the interests of the state.

Jakhar said the ruling AAP government was deliberately spreading misinformation about the Act to divert public attention from real issues while the Congress was opposing the scheme only to protect its political existence and unite itself on this pretext. In contrast, he said, the BJP was the only political party at present working sincerely for the welfare of Punjab.
