    The Lakers’ father-and-son duo played meaningful minutes together for the second straight game when the Lakers returned from a successful road trip to host the struggling Nets. Bronny James was on court with his father for nearly 4 1/2 minutes after they checked in together to start the second quarter.

    Lakers' LeBron James misses 3rd straight, sits out win vs. Wolves

    LOS ANGELES — Lakers star LeBron James remained out for Tuesday night's 120-106 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves because of left foot arthritis and a right hip contusion.

    James went through his pregame shooting routine at Crypto.com Arena prior to the Lakers' team walk-through and determined he needed more time to get treatment on his left foot before playing in a game, coach JJ Redick said.

    It was James' third straight missed game, the longest stretch the 23-year veteran has been out since he was sidelined the first 14 games of the season with sciatica in his lower back and down his right leg.

    Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James is available to play Thursday night against the Chicago Bulls, the team announced shortly before tip-off.

    James, 41, had missed the Lakers' last three games due to a right hip contusion and left foot arthritis. In the fourth quarter of last Thursday's game against the Denver Nuggets, James took a hard fall and landed on his left elbow. ESPN's Dave McMenamin later reported that head coach JJ Redick said James "was icing his left elbow after the game and that he was experiencing enough discomfort that it caused him to be unable to finish the game."

    LeBron James returns for Lakers after missing past 3 games because of injuries

    LOS ANGELES (AP) — LeBron James returned to the lineup for the Los Angeles Lakers on Thursday night against the Chicago Bulls after missing the past three games because of a right hip contusion and arthritis in his left foot.

    James, 41, is averaging 21.4 points, 5.6 rebounds and seven assists in 44 games this season, his 23rd in the NBA. He had been a game-time decision to play against the Bulls but was confirmed to be available before tip-off.

    The Lakers won all three games without James, including impressive victories over the New York Knicks on Saturday and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday. Los Angeles is 40-25 and came into the night fourth in the Western Conference with a chance to move ahead of the idle Houston Rockets, who have the same record.

    The NBA announced its starters for next month's All-Star Game on Monday — and, for the first time in a generation, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James wasn't listed among them.

    His teammate Luka Doncic led the Western Conference voting and was joined by Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic, Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama and Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry. Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo topped the voting in the East and will be joined by New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, Philadelphia 76ers guard Tyrese Maxey, Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham and Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown.

    LOS ANGELES (AP) Luka Doncic scored 34 points, LeBron James had 24, and the Los Angeles Lakers snapped their three-game losing streak with a 125-101 win over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday night.

    Nick Smith Jr. had 21 off the bench for the Lakers, who had dropped four of six and all by at least 13 points, including a 23-point demolition at the hands of Houston on Christmas Day in their previous game.

    DeMar DeRozan had 22 for the Kings, who have won consecutive games just once this season. Maxime Raynaud finished with 16, as Sacramento had six players in double figures.

    After two-plus days of stewing over the no-show against the Rockets, including a team meeting on Saturday and a rare Sunday morning shootaround, the Lakers found themselves in the second quarter, with Doncic scoring 15 of his 24 first-half points in the period for a 68-53 halftime lead.

    The Sacramento Kings defeated the Dallas Mavericks 113-107 last night. It was one of their best performances of the season considering how much of the youth led Sacramento to victory. This is the type of roster losing teams like the Kings should be trotting out there on a nightly basis.

    Maxime Raynaud, rookie, started at center and played 27 minutes. Keon Ellis, 26, started and led the Kings with 32 minutes. Rookie Dylan Cardwell led the bench unit in minutes played, 20:58. And rookie wing Nique Clifford got his own 20 minutes off the bench. Some of the young Kings played better than others, but just getting them all on the court is enough to make me stop complaining on this website for one day.

    Former NBA player and head coach Sam Mitchell says one of the Los Angeles Lakers' big issues is LeBron James suffering from the "main character syndrome."

    At 41 years old, in a couple of days, LeBron is the oldest player currently in the NBA. And although there is no doubt that he can still play at a high level, he is no longer the dominant player he once was and as such, is no longer the best player on his team.
