Stats Rundown: 3 numbers from the Mavericks loss to the Clippers

The Dallas Mavericks continue to lose, this time in a 138-131 overtime thriller to the Los Angeles Clippers.

Darius Garland had a savant performance, pouring in 41 points and 11 assists. Kawhi Leonard also had a great performance, scoring 34 points on just 22 shots.

The Mavericks almost pulled off the upset, but were eventually overwhelmed by the more talented team.

The Clippers were absolutely red hot from three all game, and consistently relied on outside shooting to outpace the Mavericks.

Garland and Leonard combined to be 13-of-21 from three, and the duo made the same amount of threes as the entire Mavericks team combined.

BHP cashes in on ‘metal of the future’

Worldwide demand for electrification, renewable energy, and the digital infrastructure needed to power AI has made copper, often labelled the “metal of the future,” the biggest earner at global mining giant BHP.

The world’s biggest miner hit the milestone in the half-year to December after a four-year drive to boost copper production saw red metal comprise the largest share of BHP’s underlying earnings, previously dominated by the resource giant’s output of iron ore from its Pilbara operations in Western Australia.

BHP is the world’s largest copper producer. The strong performance of its key mine in Chile, Escondida, and contributions from other mines in Chile and South Australia, resulted in the miner increasing its copper guidance to between 1.9 and 2 megatonnes.

Update on John Cena vs. Gunther at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event

John Cena will have all the time he wants at Saturday Night’s Main Event.

Our own Bryan Alvarez wrote to his subscribers on X that with Cena vs. Gunther scheduled to open the show, and the event having no set runtime, Cena will have as much time as he needs.

“At this point, there is no set runtime for Saturday Night’s Main Event, so everyone will get all the time they need. Cena vs. Gunther is currently scheduled to open the show and Cena will get as much time as he wants.”

Dave Meltzer also addressed Cena vs. Gunther opening the show in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, noting that since the show is airing only on Peacock in the United States, and not NBC, they are not confined to a hard out at 10 p.m. Eastern, as they were for Goldberg’s retirement match in July.
