F1 star lights up Goodwood in Ford Supercar
Arvid Lindblad had his hands full in the Gen3 Ford Mustang
Jamie Whincup handed the reins of a Gen3 Ford Supercar to Formula 1 rookie Arvid Lindblad at Goodwood — and the teenager had his hands full.
Whincup and Triple Eight are making a cameo at the Goodwood Festival of Speed with a Gen3 Mustang.
The seven-time Supercars champion handed the Ford over to Racing Bulls F1 driver Lindblad, who performed a series of burnouts in front of the large crowd.
During the demonstration, Lindblad was nearly hit by Ellen Lohr’s DTM-spec Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The two cars made gentle contact.
‘Arvid got [the engine] up to about 120 [degrees], so hopefully it keeps going,” Whincup joked.

During a demonstration on Saturday, Lindblad performed a series of doughnuts in the Red Bull Ampol Racing Ford Mustang.
However, while that was happening, Ellen Lohr was released in her DTM-spec Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
With cold carbon brakes, Lohr struggled to slow down and came within centimetres of the preceding car.
Lohr stopped, but Lindblad grazed the front bumper of the famous Vodafone-backed Mercedes-Benz.
Speaking on Saturday, Lindblad said he had enjoyed the chance to drive the Supercar.
“It’s been amazing to see all the different cars – all so different from different generations of the sport, so many different years. It’s been really cool to see.
