Dragons forward Luciano Leilua will join the Super League from next season after inking a three-year deal with Catalans.

The barnstorming edge forward requested an early release from St. George-Illawarra back before the June 30 transfer deadline, but that was denied.

Leilua had previously been linked to a move to the Broncos and Perth Bears.

Luciano Leilua confirms new club on long-term contract

St George Illawarra Dragons forward Luciano Leilua has confirmed he will move to the Catalans Dragons from the start of 2027 on a three-year deal.

The second-rower requested a release from the Dragons earlier this year before the June 30 deadline, but the club knocked him back, keeping him as part of the playing squad until the end of the season.

While he was at one point linked with a move to the Brisbane Broncos, and the Perth Bears were also said to be interested in his services, Leilua has confirmed he will make the move to the south of France with the Super League glamour club from the start of next year.

NRL star Luciano Leilua completes Super League transfer for 2027

St George-Illawarra Dragons forward Luciano Leilua has completed a move to Super League for 2027 after agreeing a long-term deal with Catalans Dragons.

Leilua has been linked with a move to Super League all summer, with Catalans emerging as his likely destination as far back as last month.

And the powerhouse forward will officially ply his trade in the competition for 2027 and beyond after agreeing to join Catalans on a three-year deal.

A product of the Dragons’ academy, his time with the NRL side is now coming to a close in the next few weeks. He will be the latest in a long line of St George players to move to Super League, with Castleford signing Damien Cook, Tyrell Sloan and Mat Feagai – and Wakefield signing Emre Guler, who has made an early move to Trinity.

Caitlyn Jenner says there's a 'simple' solution to end the WNBA's trans athlete debate

Fox News contributor Caitlyn Jenner joins 'Fox News @ Night' to react to former NBA player Royce White satirizing the WNBA's gender policies after declaring for the draft. Jenner slams the league's hypocrisy and calls to protect Title IX.

Caitlyn Jenner reacted to how the WNBA has navigated its latest controversy over whether transgender athletes would be eligible to play in the league.

The WNBA has lacked clarity on whether a transgender athlete would be able to play in the league. In the midst of it all, former NBA players Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White each launched bids to get into the WNBA.

WNBA condemns ‘bad-faith’ efforts to fuel transgender player debate

The WNBA on Wednesday criticized those trying to create a narrative about transgender women playing in the league.

“There are no immediate eligibility matters affecting the WNBA, and we strongly denounce the bad-faith efforts to use these topics to demean or marginalize others,” a league spokesperson said Wednesday in a statement, hours after an anti-hate task force met virtually and discussed a variety of topics, including social media vitriol and transgender athletes.

A person familiar with the discussion told Yahoo Sports that much of the meeting focused on the online hate and abuse directed at WNBA players.

The league’s collective bargaining agreement states that “only players who are women are eligible to play in the WNBA,” but it does not include any more specific language about gender identity or sex assigned at birth. Last Friday, two former NBA players, Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White, declared themselves eligible for the WNBA draft, saying they identify as women.

Mentoring: the missing link in industry fraud defence

Knowing credit is not the same as knowing how to be a broker, writes Purple Circle CEO Michael Stephens

Home loan fraud investigations circling our industry have rightly shaken confidence in mortgage broking. With banks reportedly sharing blacklists, and allegations of a multi-billion-dollar syndicate at the centre of it all, the question is no longer whether we have a problem. It's what we should do about it.

Plenty has been said about aggregator due diligence, reference checks and lender accreditation. Those conversations matter. But in my view, one of the most overlooked structural weaknesses in our industry sits much earlier in the chain: how new brokers – and particularly ex-bankers – are inducted into broking.

Why SMS authentication is exposing mortgage lenders to avoidable risk

Australia's mortgage lending sector sits on a vast repository of sensitive financial and customer identity data. From payslips and tax returns to bank statements and identification documents, brokers are custodians of the information cyber criminals value most. Yet many mortgage brokers still rely on usernames and passwords, or, at best, SMS-based multi-factor authentication (MFA), as their frontline security controls. A recent data breach highlights exactly why this approach is flawed.

The widely reported cyberattack on Australian fintech YouX in February of this year is a timely reminder that attackers do not always break in using sophisticated methods. Increasingly, they are simply logging in using compromised credentials. Whether through phishing, credential stuffing or social engineering, once an attacker can intercept a one-time SMS code, they can gain access to systems that hold highly sensitive customer data.

Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell has admitted the prospect of Toby Greene playing for the Hawks would be enticing after the club was urged to target the star Giants skipper.

Hawks coach responds to Cornes’ Toby Greene suggestion

Hawthorn coach Sam Mitchell admits he would love Toby Greene at his club.

But he fully understands the reality of the situation in attempting to lure a star captain away from his current club.

Last week, SEN’s Kane Cornes floated the potential for the Hawks to bring 32-year-old Greene, who is out of contract at season’s end, back to Melbourne for a last tilt at a flag

“You'll continually be on the hunt to improve your list and you like to dodge these questions, but I think Toby Greene is a nice option for free in terms of not giving up anything for him – a couple of years left, I think he serves a purpose for you,” Cornes said.
