Lakers' Jake LaRavia: Leaves for locker room

LaRavia exited to the locker room in the fourth quarter of Tuesday's Game 2 against the Rockets due to an apparent right leg issue, Khobi Price of The California Post reports.

LaRavia was seemingly trying to stay off his right foot as he limped to the locker room with 5:05 remaining in the fourth quarter. It's unclear exactly what he is dealing with, though it wouldn't be surprising if the 24-year-old doesn't return in the final minutes of Tuesday's contest.

There haven't been many surprises in the first week of the 2026 NBA postseason. The No. 7 and 8 teams in each conference advanced through the play-in tournament. In the first weekend of the true playoffs, home teams won seven of the eight Game 1s — and by an average of 17.7 points. Only one game all weekend was decided by single digits.

But that single-digit game was a semi-surprise, as the fourth-seeded Los Angeles Lakers defeated the fifth-seeded Houston Rockets. Even with Houston's leading scorer, Kevin Durant, missing Game 1, the Lakers were underdogs at home because they were missing their top two scorers in Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.

Three Oscars and a Best Director trophy did not inoculate hurt locker from sharp professional critique: veterans and former explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) personnel say the film’s image of bomb technicians as adrenaline-seeking loners misstates how the work is actually done.

Verified facts: Brian Castner, former U. S. Air Force EOD officer who deployed to Iraq, has publicly criticized the film’s portrayal of bomb disposal as reckless and improvisational. Castner and other EOD professionals describe the real practice as driven by procedure, repetition, and use of robotics before any human approach. Tech. Sgt. Jeremy Phillips, a team leader in Iraq’s eastern Maysan province, characterized the film’s central character as a “run and gun cowboy type, ” a profile he said the services are not seeking. Brian Mockenhaupt, a former U. S. Army infantryman, argued the film stacks improbable incidents into a single deployment, creating a sense of nonstop chaos that veterans say does not reflect typical operations.

Lakers' Luka Doncic: Heads to locker room

Warriors' Jimmy Butler: Helped to locker room Monday

Butler (knee) was helped to the locker room in the third quarter of Monday's game against the Heat due to an apparent right knee injury, Danny Emerman of SFStandard.com reports.

Butler went up to catch a pass and landed awkwardly on his right leg, with his knee caving in before he went down. The star forward appeared to be in a significant amount of pain and required assistance getting to the back. In the likely event he's unable to return, he'll finish with 17 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 5-5 FT), four assists, three rebounds and two steals in 21 minutes.

Warriors' Jimmy Butler helped off court with knee injury, unable to put weight on right leg

Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler left Monday's game against the Miami Heat with a knee injury that left him in significant pain and in need of help off the court.

The injury took place in the third quarter after Butler caught a contested pass in the paint. Butler landed awkwardly on his right leg and fell to the ground after contact from Davion Mitchell that drew a foul.

Butler writhed on the court and clutched his right knee after sustaining the injury. Warriors coach Steve Kerr called a timeout to check on Butler as Butler screamed in pain on the baseline.
