An Unusual-Looking Raccoon Nicknamed Jimothy Is Winning Hearts Across the Internet for His Short, Round Body
The creature, affectionately nicknamed “Jimothy,” likely has a congenital spine condition that has given him a short, round body. Otherwise, experts say the animal seems to be healthy as he scampers around Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood.
Kiana Hall, a 33-year-old marketing specialist, is responsible for Jimothy’s recent fame. She was out for an evening walk with her husband on July 13 when she spotted an animal moving beneath a car. At first, she expected it to be a cat but quickly realized she was wrong.
“I was pretty surprised and confused, because the body shape didn’t look like anything I was familiar with,” Hall tells NBC’s Kimmy Yam on Today. “He turned around and I saw that masked pattern on the front of his face, and that’s when I realized he was a raccoon.”
