'Part of me would miss him a lot': McRae waits on Pendles call

Collingwood will need to wait till season's end to hear what its champion is doing next

COLLINGWOOD coach Craig McRae can understand rival clubs targeting Scott Pendlebury as the Magpies legend prepares to leave a call on his future until the end of the season.

After missing Sunday's win over West Coast, Pendlebury will be joined by fellow premiership hero Jordan De Goey in returning to face Hawthorn at the MCG on Saturday night.

Debuting in 2006, Pendlebury is giving thought to playing on into a 22nd AFL season in 2027, even if it is at another club.

Essendon and Gold Coast have shown interest in recruiting Pendlebury as effectively an on-field coach.

Golden Sunset? Gold Coast ponders Pendlebury for Hodge-like role

Gold Coast have expressed interest in recruiting Collingwood great Scott Pendlebury for a Luke Hodge-style role on the field next year.

Essendon also have inquired about whether Pendlebury would be interested in playing with and mentoring their young list next year, as the AFL’s games record holder weighs up his next move, industry sources familiar with Pendlebury’s discussions have confirmed.

The Suns, who have slumped from a 7-3 start this season to be 8-13 and out of finals contention, are primarily interested in Pendlebury as a player next year, rather than as an assistant coach, though he harbours coaching ambitions and could easily move from playing to (assistant) coaching if he chooses to leave the Magpies.

Essendon’s bold play to lure Pendlebury for great’s final chapter

Essendon has reportedly made a bold play to convince Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury to finish his career at Tullamarine.

It comes as the 38-year-old has reportedly told the Pies he wants to play on again in 2027.

The Magpies are reportedly still on the fence about whether to offer Pendlebury a contract given his age, but he is seemingly keen to go into a 22nd AFL campaign.

And while AFL reporter Cal Twomey says a move to Essendon won’t come to fruition, it highlights the current lateral thinking at the Bombers as they attempt to add experience and leadership to their list.

‘Racquet and a lot of heart’: Djokovic claims longest-ever Wimbledon quarter-final

Seven-time Wimbledon champion Novak Djokovic has added another chapter to his legendary story, outlasting Felix Auger-Aliassime across five-plus hours on centre court to lock in a semi-final rematch with world No.1 Jannik Sinner.

    At 39, Djokovic is 14 years Auger-Aliassime’s senior, but his hopes for a record-extending 25th grand slam trophy are alive after a pulsating 7-6 (12-10), 3-6, 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (10-4) triumph.

The extraordinary contest broke the record as the longest quarter-final in tournament history at five hours and 15 minutes, and finished six minutes inside the tournament’s 11pm curfew.

Djokovic faced defeat serving at 4-4, 0-30 in the final set, but strung together the next four points to edge back in front, then played a magnificent super tie-breaker where he simply refused to miss as he finally wore Auger-Aliassime down.

Djokovic surpasses Federer after 315-minute Wimbledon war

Novak Djokovic reached an eighth straight Wimbledon semi-final after grinding down Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime 7-6(10) 3-6 6-3 6-7(4) 7-6(10-4) in an epic battle on Wednesday to set up a showdown with reigning champion Jannik Sinner.

Having surpassed Roger Federer for most match victories at the All England Club with his 106th win in the last round, the 39-year-old eclipsed the Swiss again by becoming the first man to reach the last four eight straight times.

Djokovic got there by coming through the longest quarter-final in Wimbledon history, at five hours and 15 minutes, with a gutsy display against a determined opponent who proved hard to break down for much of the contest.

Aussie television host Carrie Bickmore has shared an update on her condition, following an accidental head-knock that forced her to undergo surgery.

Netflix and 50 Cent’s harrowing new series looks back at the disgraced music mogul’s rise to fame and fall from grace

The controversial Netflix docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning had already been called a “shameful hitpiece” by the disgraced mogul’s lawyers after a trailer was released on Monday.

Now after all four episodes have been dropped on Netflix, it’s been called “grimly necessary” and a “relentless” portrait of “a terrifying individual” by critics.

The series, produced by Combs’s longtime rival Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, chronicles his rise to fame and details some of the allegations made against him over the years.

Diddy hits out at 'shameful' and 'illegal' Netflix documentary

Lawyers for Sean "Diddy" Combs have hit out at a new Netflix documentary produced by rapper 50 Cent, which they say is "a shameful hit piece" that "relied on stolen footage".

The four-part documentary, titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning, was released on Tuesday and is billed as a "staggering examination" of the hip-hop mogul, who was convicted on prostitution-related charges earlier this year.

It includes what Netflix described as "explosive" footage of Combs filmed in the days before his arrest, including a phone conversation with his lawyers.

The director said she obtained the footage legally, but Combs' spokesman said it was "fundamentally unfair, and illegal" to use his private footage.
