    ‘Speaks for itself’: Luai move confirmed after fiery Benji presser

    Benji Marshall has fired back at the “made up” rumours surrounding Jarome Luai after the decision from Wests Tigers officials to let the co-captain leave and sign with rivals Parramatta for the 2027 season.

    Luai is in the second season in what was originally a five-year contract, but earlier this year signed with the PNG Chiefs for their inaugural 2028 campaign.

    It was originally expected that Luai would remain at Concord next year, but the Tigers have since released the five-eighth for 2027 and he is now set to join the Eels on a stop-gap deal, as confirmed by the club on Tuesday evening.

    Jarome Luai to Join Parramatta Eels in 2027

    The Parramatta Eels are delighted to announce that four-time NRL premiership-winning half Jarome Luai will join the Club for the 2027 NRL season.

    One of the game's most accomplished playmakers, Luai brings a wealth of experience and leadership to the Eels after establishing himself as one of the competition's premier halves.

    Luai has enjoyed success at the highest level throughout his career and has also represented New South Wales in State of Origin, and Samoa on the international stage. His competitive nature, football intelligence and ability to perform under pressure make him a significant addition to Parramatta's roster next year.

    Parramatta Eels General Manager of Football Mark O'Neill said Luai's arrival would provide an enormous boost to the Club both on and off the field.

    Match Preview: Desperate Tigers pose huge threat

    The One New Zealand Warriors face a huge challenge from a desperate Wests Tigers side determined to get its finals quest back on track at Campbelltown Sports Stadium in Sydney tonight. 

    Benji Marshall's men have struggled over the past couple of months and suffered a shock defeat to the Dragons last weekend.

    They were dealt a blow in the loss when skipper Api Koroisau injured his pectoral, with the hooker facing a month on the sidelines.

    The Wests Tigers sent shockwaves through the rugby league world earlier this week when they dropped a mid-season bombshell.

    On Thursday afternoon, reports emerged from CODE Sports that the club had granted five-eighth and co-captain Jarome Luai permission to depart the as early as the end of this season.

    “We’re all fine. Obviously its not ideal before a game but we’re all locked in and we won’t use that as an excuse tonight,” Adam Doueihi said on Fox League.

    Luai was supposed to lead Tigers back to the finals. He’s leaving after 18 months. What went wrong?

    When Jarome Luai flew to Port Moresby on a private jet and signed with the PNG Chiefs in April, the Wests Tigers took the loss of their $6 million star with good grace.

    It was an opportunity “too good to refuse” for Luai, admitted Tigers coach Benji Marshall, who waived the 10-day cooling-off period and set about planning for the future while vowing the club would make the most of their co-captain for the 18 months they had left with him.

    The team had at that point won five of their first seven games – three of the victories chalked up while Luai was absent with a knee injury – and were riding high on the NRL ladder.

    Wests Tigers captain Jarome Luai will miss at least one month of NRL action after injuring his knee last weekend.

    The NRL has handed a breach notice to Parramatta fullback Isaiah Iongi

    St George Illawarra player Ryan Couchman will face the NRL judiciary after his hip-drop-style tackle on Parramatta's J'Maine Hopgood ended the Eels forward's season.

    Jarome Luai will miss a month with his knee injury, but his Wests Tigers halves partner Adam Doueihi has been cleared of a hamstring issue and is on track to play in the club's next game.

    Wests Tigers Injury Report: Round 3

    The Wests Tigers can provide the following NRL injury update, after their Round 3 clash with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. 

    Jarome Luai (knee) has been ruled out for four weeks, after leaving the field late in the second half in Gosford.

    Adam Doueihi has been cleared of any serious injury after leaving the field in the final minutes of Saturday’s match.

    Jarome Luai will miss a month with his knee injury, but his Wests Tigers halves partner Adam Doueihi has been cleared of a hamstring issue and is on track to play in the club's next game.

    The Tigers' third season under Benji Marshall appeared to have been dealt a serious blow when both starting halves went down in Saturday's 20-16 loss to South Sydney.

    You only need two words to explain why Jarome Luai played his best game yet for the Wests Tigers in last weekend’s thumping victory over North Queensland: Adam Doueihi.

    Before the start of pre-season, coach Benji Marshall told Doueihi he would be the starting No.7 this year. Not only was he more than capable of steering the team around the park, the 27-year-old’s control and experience would free up Luai to become the carefree, running five-eighth he was at Penrith.

    “When I started coaching here as an assistant, I said to Adam at the time, ‘You could be one of the biggest, hybrid No.7s going around’,” Marshall said this week.
