    A driver accused of killing a young man after ploughing into a group of pedestrians outside a Melbourne comic convention has faced court.

    Awer Dau, 33, faced court on Sunday evening charged with culpable driving causing death after allegedly hitting two pedestrians outside the Melbourne Showgrounds.

    A 20-year-old man from Keysborough died just after leaving the Supanova comic convention after being struck by the car, while another 20-year-old is being treated for significant lower body injuries.

    Mr Dau is scheduled to return to the Melbourne Magistrates' Court in September.

    A 33-year-old man has faced court accused of dangerous driving causing death after a young man was hit by a car and died outside the Supanova Comic Con & Gaming convention at the Melbourne Showgrounds.

    Search resumes for man missing from cruise liner, after woman from same ship drowns

    The search for a man missing after going overboard from a Carnival cruise ship near Moreton Island on Friday night resumed stretched into a second day at the weekend.

    The man, in his 70s, was a passenger on Carnival Splendor, which was sailing from the island towards Sydney.

    He was reported overboard north-east of Cape Moreton about 10.30pm on Friday, sparking an “intensive air and sea search involving multiple assets”, according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority.

    In an update on Saturday evening, AMSA said it had suspended the search operation.

    FREMANTLE coach Justin Longmuir believes the selflessness of his key forwards is a key reason for the team's strong start to the season as star goalkicker Josh Treacy takes his turn to capitalise on the scoreboard. 

    Treacy has booted eight goals in his past two games and 10 for the season, with the 23-year-old ranking No.1 in the AFL among forwards with 10 marks a game and cementing himself as one of the League's best key targets in his sixth season.

    Jamar McAllister of Plymouth tried his luck on a $10 scratch-off and won a $1 million top prize.

    McAllister bought his lucky 50X The Cash ticket from Ramseur Gas Co on Jordan Road in Ramseur.

    When McAllister arrived at lottery headquarters Monday to claim his prize, he had a decision to make. He could choose to receive his prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000. He chose the lump sum of $600,000 and, after required tax withholdings, took home $432,063.

    The 50X The Cash game debuted in February 2025 with six top prizes of $1 million. One $1 million prize remains to be claimed.

    Narrabeen man wins $4m

    A man from Narrabeen has won the entire division one prize of four million dollars ($4m) in this week’s Oz Lotto draw.

    As the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1675, the Narrabeen man secured the entire prize pool of $4m for himself. His winning 10-game QuickPick was purchased on The Lott website and drawn on Tuesday evening (24 March 2026, video below).

    Contacted and advised of his win by lottery officials yesterday morning (Wednesday, 25 March), the winner, who is believed to be in his early 30s, was unaware he had won the first prize.

    “Far out! I’m just in my car on my way to work. That’s amazing. I had no idea! I purchase tickets into Oz Lotto and Powerball now and then. This was just a QuickPick!

    Perth Lotto winner almost missed life-changing call

    A Lotto winner from Perth’s south almost missed the phone call of a lifetime, mistaking news of his $15 million jackpot for a cold call.

    The hospitality worker scored the entire division one prize in last week’s Oz Lotto draw after hurriedly buying a ticket during a busy day at work.

    The man, who is aged in his 40s, said he would usually have played his favourite numbers but instead bought a Slikpik.

    “I had customers knocking at the door so I just picked a ticket with random numbers as I was in a rush,” he said.

    “I didn’t even think to check my ticket after the draw since they weren’t my usual numbers.”

    Skinner urges Man Utd players to write history in 'magic' Champions League tie

    Marc Skinner expects both Manchester United and Bayern Munich to create "magic moments" in their Women's Champions League quarter-final tie, but he hopes his side can come out on top to make further history for the club.

    United will welcome the German champions to Old Trafford for the first leg on Wednesday, before the teams do battle again in Munich a week later.

    This is the Red Devils' debut season in the Champions League proper, having gone out in the qualifiers last term, and they have taken to the competition brilliantly.

    When I woke up this morning, I heated a chocolate chip cookie in my microwave, drank a virgin Arizona Piña Colada, and took a drag from my joint. It’s an odd mix of things to do as part of my morning routine (minus the wake and bake), but today was different. A chocolate chip cookie and an Arizona was all I could handle as I was stressing, eyeing the clock, awaiting Chainsaw Man’s final chapter. After two weeks of sending fans into a theory-crafting frenzy in anticipation of its final chapter—briefly crashing both Manga Plus and Shonen Jump when it arrived—Chainsaw Man is finally over. And now I’m left with a goofy grin on my face.

    Pep Guardiola said he does not expect Manchester City's Carabao Cup victory over Arsenal to have any impact on the title race and believes it could refocus Mikel Arteta's side ahead of its visit to the Etihad Stadium.

    City won 2-0 at Wembley on Sunday thanks to two second-half headers from Nico O'Reilly to earn Guardiola his fifth Carabao Cup success in 10 years.

    The two teams meet again in the Premier League on April 19.

I mean, the answer is obviously both, but did he send them out to play so conservatively, or did the occasion get to them? They have to get more men into the box when attacking in open play and trust their centre-backs to defend one on one.

    A Craven County man said years of playing the lottery paid off this week with a $2 million Powerball win.

    Dietrich Kilpatrick of Dover said he has bought Quick Pick tickets for nearly every drawing over the past decade. On Monday, he matched all five white balls to win $1 million, and the prize doubled to $2 million after the 2X multiplier was applied, according to the North Carolina Education Lottery.

    “I’ve been buying Quick Picks in every drawing for like 10 years,” Kilpatrick said.

    Kilpatrick, a retired farmer of 42 years, purchased the $3 ticket at JD Gas & Grocery on N.C. 55 in Dover. Lottery officials said his was the largest prize won nationally in that drawing.

    Craven County man’s persistence pays off with $2 million Powerball win

    Dietrich Kilpatrick of Dover said he has been in every Powerball drawing for years and on Monday his big moment arrived in the form of a $2 million win.

    “I’ve been buying Quick Picks in every drawing for like 10 years,” he said.

    Kilpatrick, a retired farmer of 42 years, bought his lucky $3 ticket from JD Gas & Grocery on N.C. 55 in Dover. The ticket matched the numbers on all five white balls to win $1 million. The prize doubled to $2 million when the 2X multiplier came up. The $2 million win was the largest prize won nationally in the drawing. The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 11.6 million.
