Prediction, pick for Julius Walker vs. Gerald Meerschaert at UFC Vegas 122
We’ve got a classic “prospect vs. veteran” matchup on our hands for Saturday night, as light heavyweights Julius Walker and Gerald Meerschaert collide at UFC Fight Night: Allen vs. Duncan inside the Meta APEX.
Walker (7–3, 1–3 UFC) is coming off back-to-back stoppage losses, capped by an eight-second KO to undefeated prospect Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev in June. Meerschaert (37–22, 12–14 UFC) has lost five straight fights, most recently dropping a unanimous decision to Jacob Malkoun in May.
Walker enters as a heavy -290 moneyline favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook. Meerschaert is a +235 underdog, with the fight total set at O/U 1.5 rounds.
Julius Walker’s UFC tenure has not gone according to plan. The Connecticut native, 27, has gone just 1–3 since his 2025 debut, a turbulent stretch punctuated by two stoppage losses in a row. In his last trip to the cage, he got starched by surging prospect Abdul-Rakhman Yakhyaev in eight seconds — the fastest finish in UFC light heavyweight history.
UFC Vegas 122: Julius Walker vs. Gerald Meerschaert Predictions & Odds
Another veteran-versus-young-fighter battle will be part of the UFC Vegas 122 card on Saturday, as Gerald Meerschaert faces Julius Walker inside the Meta APEX in Las Vegas.
Because of his five-fight losing streak, Meerschaert enters the clash as the betting underdog with +240 UFC odds. On the other hand, Walker, who’s on a two-fight losing skid, is going to be the -300 betting favorite.
I predict a TKO/KO win for Walker over Meerschaert because he’s younger, explosive, and more powerful puncher at this point in their careers. Meerschaert has shown his age during his last outing against Jacob Malkoun and has become more hittable.
