    A public memorial will be held for the late 702 ABC Sydney presenter James Valentine on Friday, May 29 in Sydney.

    The event at Town Hall is open to the public with registrations to be released in waves. 

    Valentine died aged 64 in April, two years after being diagnosed with cancer. 

    A public memorial for beloved ABC presenter and musician James Valentine will be held on May 29 at Sydney Town Hall. 

    Valentine died aged 64 last month using voluntary assisted dying, two years after being diagnosed with cancer. 

    The celebration of life is open to the public with registrations to be released in a series of waves.

    A public memorial will be held at Sydney’s Town Hall in May for musician, author and ABC Sydney radio presenter James Valentine, who died last month aged 64.

    The ABC announced the much-loved Sydney personality’s memorial will be on May 29. Public registrations will be available in waves on 702 Sydney Radio’s website, and the memorial is slated to be broadcast on the same station from 12.30pm to 2pm.

    Richard Glover, who worked alongside Valentine on the airwaves for 25 years, will host the memorial.

    Valentine’s death on April 23 following a two-year cancer battle was deeply felt across Sydney. It sparked days of warm tributes by fellow broadcasters and listeners on ABC radio, and prompted discussions about his decision to hold a living wake and choose voluntary assisted dying (VAD).
